Hannibal Smith is 100% right. The people that run G4 are West Coast Lefty millionaires that happily use their advertising-sponsored TV show to push their sociopolitical agenda onto American males aged 16-34 by hiring nothing but West Coast Lefty wannabe millioniare writers, editors, and hosts.

So when will a Republican with money be smart enough to fund a competing TV show that targets the potentially more affluent (and, some would argue, larger) politically conservative/libertarian audience?

Republicans did great on terrestrial talk radio, but that's for Baby Boomers with their errectile dysfunctions and osteoporosis. When are Republican millionaires gonna figure out how to make money off TV/Internet advertising, take an educated risk with their considerable fortunes, and put up the money to create a new media market that could sustain for the next few decades?

Many have said it, but these aren’t debates, they’re stage(d) auditions.

yep.

i was wondering why they didn't put the "don't ask don't tell" question to the candidates, since that was the clinton whitehouse's policy.

When you party celebrates infanticide then logic dictates that liberal
politicians only have children as props. So, they where all thinking, hey whose prop is that? Should I smile? Where is planned parenthood on this?

Big S:
P.S. Both Rudy and Fred have hosted radio call-in programs, which are really just the old-fashioned version of youtube. I would not bet against them in the “interactive debate” format.

I agree - both Rudy and Fred (if he ever gets around to declaring) have more human appeal than most, if not all, of the Dem field, and have shown the ability to think on their feet. The only Dem I'd fear in this area is Obama, owing to his ultra-slick delivery, but if Clinton, Inc. does their job, no Republican will ever debate him.

But of course the real joke here is that there's nothing "interactive" about the YouTube gimmick. As Rush and countless others (including, I think, our own gracious host here at Hot Air) have said, it's all about CNN being able to disclaim responsibility for airing ridiculous questions and (when September comes) wacky moonbat talking points. "Hey, we're just channeling the voice of 'The People!'"

Many have said it, but these aren't debates, they're stage(d) auditions. And if the voting public is merging with the American Idol viewership, we're in trouble.

Sorry, I know it was kind of off-topic. I just saw the clip and I had to let off some steam. G4 isn't an inherently political channel - they're what's left of the TechTV channel before they were re-targeted to the MTV crowd. Now there's very little "tech" involved, unless you care what Maxim models think about XBox games. And they show re-runs of COPS and "The Man Show." Huh?

Back on topic, cute youtube remix. Can't wait to see what kinds of wacky moonbat questions are submitted, and let through by CNN, for the Repub version.

Isn't Rudy's entire domestic agenda basically premised on using database technology to track just about everything, in real time, in order to help accomplish government goals in both the immediate short term, as well as the long term? Sure, maybe he doesn't know the nitty gritty details about how such things work, but he gets the importance of having information available at one's fingertips at any time it is needed. Isn't that what the "technology" they speak of is all about?

P.S. Both Rudy and Fred have hosted radio call-in programs, which are really just the old-fashioned version of youtube. I would not bet against them in the "interactive debate" format.

Ok, so I was watching the "G4" channel (hey, Ninja Warrior was about to come on) and the scrawny faux-geek host and the empty-headed big-chest girl was talking to a socially awkward woman writer from Wired.com, and some scruffy, smug hipster pr!ck from some tech site about the YouTube debates. Chesty asks about the Republican YT debate coming up in September, and Host Guy opines something useless, followed by Scruffy who effects his most condescending sneer and says he "can't wait" to see Rudy and Co. choke and lose face because "Republicans don't understand technology," "haven't embraced the Web," etc etc. Host Guy drools a bit and closes with a breathless "me too!"

Last I checked, every candidate has a website, most have blogs, Fred's blog is great and actually written by him, they're using MySpace and other networking sites, and the Dem blogs & sites are nothing special. But nope, down in the Valley or wherever this latte-slurping net.faker hangs out, "Republican" is just some bizarro species from the non-coastal areas, somewhere around where Children of the Corn took place. Thanks a lot, scruff-boy, for reminding me why I've been unable to read Slashdot for the last four years.
