Video: Olby … apologizes?

Via Inside Cable News, which is getting HuffPo-lanched right now so I’m going to post the clip here in case they go down. What crisis of conscience brought the Murrow of our time to this lowly state? Regret over his endless Nazi allusions? Remorse for his corrosive soft Trutherism? Shame, perhaps, at his humiliating sycophancy towards prominent Democrats? Of course not. Each of those things stands him in good stead with his nutroots audience. Calling the wife of a guy who just copped to cheating on her with prostitutes a “ho,” however, does not, and since he was on vacation at the time anyway, he’s not really apologizing for himself so much as for his staff. The great man does not err but the mortals who surround him, alas, occasionally do.

Besides, people whose opinions he respects were beginning to talk.

Where is the apology for him being on the air at all?

lorien1973 on July 24, 2007 at 11:39 AM

An All-American POS.

Griz on July 24, 2007 at 11:39 AM

Why is it so hard for someone to apologize when that same someone can so easily demand that every patriotic American apologize for holding the interests of their own nation above the whiny mewing, rantings, and babblings of others?

MadisonConservative on July 24, 2007 at 11:40 AM

When is he going to apologize for being just plain mean.

terryannonline on July 24, 2007 at 11:42 AM

A trite question: why is he on the air? Who watches him?

Does MSNBC have an aversion to good ratings?

Professor Blather on July 24, 2007 at 11:44 AM

The evil Bushitler must have blackmailed him to say this.

There is no freedom of speech left after years of the cruel Bush-Cheney tyranny, as Olbydouche has repeasted asserted.

How are we to know if Bushitler didnl;t force Olbydouche;s underlings to insult the woman in the first place?

The endless regress of nutrootism.

Free to tell you there is no freedom.

Olby, the Duke of Hurl.

profitsbeard on July 24, 2007 at 11:45 AM

That’s the way it goes sometimes – As David St. Hubbins said, “We had to apologize for him with our set.”

jhkotter on July 24, 2007 at 11:46 AM

Ah. An apology for other people’s actions. I can’t imagine this ‘deity’ apologizing for himself.

Spirit of 1776 on July 24, 2007 at 11:47 AM

I question the timing of this apology…sir.

saltydogg14 on July 24, 2007 at 11:50 AM

I have no love for Olberman. But, I think having him on air, on camera, telling the world what the lefties really think is probably a net positive for us. It turns off moderates and the people in the middle as his ratings demonstrate. I have more problems with the hidden and much more subtle liberal bias at CBS, NPR, or on MSNBC’s allegedly non-editorial news coverage. Also, in this case he was correct to apologize. His apology did not have any anti-Bush hysteria and it wasn’t a non-apology apology. His program made a serious error with regards to how they handled Mrs. Vitter and he actually owned up to it. I’m content to leave it at that.

Professor Blather on July 24, 2007 at 11:44 AM

Good questions. What are his ratings anyway?

Harpoon on July 24, 2007 at 11:53 AM

What a jerk !

2theright on July 24, 2007 at 11:54 AM

Its too bad Bill Gates has any involvement with this sorry excuse for a news network. What next: the daily KOZ?

To me, MSNBC is about the same as Air America and Al Frankin. Does MSNBC even have an audience? They sure suck.

saiga on July 24, 2007 at 11:54 AM

D0WNT0WN on July 24, 2007 at 11:53 AM

I agree. Entirely. I just can’t figure out why MSNBC thinks its a good idea.

Unless, perhaps, they’re in on the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy?

Rove, you magnificent … oh, never mind.

Professor Blather on July 24, 2007 at 11:55 AM

Is that guy still on the air? Well, I guess so long as those three people are still watching they’ll find some excuse to keep his show on. Or is it His show on?

srhoades on July 24, 2007 at 11:58 AM

There seems to be plenty of these jokers on TV these days. Donny Douch, this guy, the view, and others. The fairness doctrine is BS.

saiga on July 24, 2007 at 11:59 AM

I’m truly taken aback by that. I had no idea that Moonbats were capable of feeling shame, or that any of them had even an inkling of decency.

A good start!

an apology for an attack on a Republican? he’s getting weak

jediwebdude on July 24, 2007 at 12:01 PM

“UnreserveDIVely”???

rivlax on July 24, 2007 at 12:04 PM

“This is the finger I write my apologies with.”

World B. Free on July 24, 2007 at 12:06 PM

A Win-Win for Olbermann. He gets to appear gracious by offering an apology, without having to take any responsibility for the remark. Too good for his Ego to pass up.

Dork B. on July 24, 2007 at 12:07 PM

http://www.mediabistro.com/tvnewser/original/q207ranker.pdf

Has the rankings

Olbermann has about 631,000 viewers in the 2Q of 2007
O’Reilly as about 3.33 million viewers (you have to add the repeat, many anti-fox do not count the two together)

Over 500 times more viewers.

At least Keith beats Donny Deutsch.

right2bright on July 24, 2007 at 12:14 PM

Over 500 times more viewers.”

Is that the same math Democrats are using to show how affordable universal health care coverage is?

jhkotter on July 24, 2007 at 12:18 PM

I can’t believe he apologized for THAT. I think it was just a way for him to get in another dig at a Republican (caught up in a prostitution scandal).

I don’t understand how ESPN sports news gives him any credibility for political analysis anyway.

ThackerAgency on July 24, 2007 at 12:22 PM

And that’s why Slobbermann was off that night. He didn’t say it, so he doesn’t have to resign.

JinxMcHue on July 24, 2007 at 12:22 PM

I DEMAND HIS RESIGNATION!!

Worth a shot…

Mazztek on July 24, 2007 at 12:29 PM

Is this freak Jewish…if so he’s a disgrace to all Jews…he’s a waste of air time…and doesn’t get any of my time…what’s he gonna do when danny p leaves ESPN….????

areseaoh on July 24, 2007 at 12:32 PM

jhkotter on July 24, 2007 at 12:18 PM

What’s a couple of zero’s, a zero is a zero, and Keith is a zero.

There must have been something wrong with my calculator…me.

right2bright on July 24, 2007 at 12:34 PM

I’ve always considered Olberdunce a sorry human being.

fogw on July 24, 2007 at 12:34 PM

I’ve always considered Olberdunce a sorry human being.

fogw on July 24, 2007 at 12:34 PM

You consider him human?

srhoades on July 24, 2007 at 12:36 PM

Of course he had to issue the apology. He had the offenders taken out and shot. His Olbernipotence can do that you know.

Kowboy on July 24, 2007 at 12:44 PM

“UnreserveDIVely”???

rivlax on July 24, 2007 at 12:04 PM

I heard that too… Real profesional of him huh!

So are these two “guest” going to get fired?

Gwillie on July 24, 2007 at 12:55 PM

Does this mean he thinks Hillary is a “ho” too for standing by Bill?

Nethicus on July 24, 2007 at 12:59 PM

After watching that I feel as if I owe myself an apology for making myself watch it.

soulsirkus on July 24, 2007 at 1:01 PM

“Over 500 times more viewers.”

jhkotter on July 24, 2007 at 12:18 PM

Yeah, the Dems learned that math from Baghdad Bob.

Bad Candy on July 24, 2007 at 1:27 PM

When he apologized to “you, the viewer”, instead of “you, the viewers”, he must’ve meant it literally. I knew his ratings were low, but wow!

revolutionismyname on July 24, 2007 at 2:03 PM

When do we get an apology for Keith being Keith?

Kini on July 24, 2007 at 2:33 PM

Allison Stewart was unavailable for comment

Wade on July 24, 2007 at 3:09 PM

KO throws Alison Stewart under the bus!

mlong on July 24, 2007 at 3:35 PM

I still don’t care about the apology here… because the issue is so unimportant, when considering all that he should apologize for… My problem is still with the comments. I have no use for Vitter or his wife, but she was hardly dressed like “ho” or revealing in any way at all. I’ve seen plenty more revealing outfits on women working in offices and retail stores, and just about anywhere. She looked very normal. I suppose if I were fashion critic John Edwards I might mock the animal print as being “so 80s” or something, but certainly not ho-ish… and the comments certainly shouldn’t come from someone dressed even more revealingly (if you recall the broad who made the comments).

RightWinged on July 24, 2007 at 3:37 PM

Good apology, although coming from someone other than the perpetrator, I’m not sure it means anything.

As others have asked, where is the apology by that tv show for his offensive presence?

Jaibones on July 24, 2007 at 3:59 PM

That there’s one product made in the USA I wouldn’t mind seeing outsourced to China…

SilverStar830 on July 24, 2007 at 6:31 PM

I’ve always considered Olberdunce Olberdouche a sorry human being.

fogw on July 24, 2007 at 12:34 PM

Fixed that for ya, try harder next time.

omnipotent on July 24, 2007 at 6:35 PM

How can a failed, ESPN jock-sniffer be held accountable for any critical thinking? The jockstrap cuts off oxygen. The lack of oxygen affects thinking. It’s simple.

I think that all Socialists should be muzzled with jockstraps.

Works for me.
