Why are so many terrorists, such as the ones who recently tried to attack London and Glasgow, doctors? Part 2 of Erick’s interview with former jihadist, Dr. Tawfik Hamid, may provide an answer: Dr. Ayman al-Zawahiri uses Middle East medical schools to recruit jihadists.

I could listen to Dr. Hamid for hours. Thank you for this Vent. I only wish it were longer…
Does anyone know where we could listen to more of his remarks?

What a phenomenal analogy: Not using power is like a doctor using antibiotics in half-doses. It does not cure the infection at all and it only assists in creating resistant strains.

That’s the part I liked as well. And it is strange the way America conducts war as though it’s ashamed at being so powerful.
I’m glad we don’t go around conquering other nations, but if we don’t have the stomach to protect our own country, it won’t be ours for much longer.

It just confirms what I’ve always thought. Thanks for this information. Well done.
I hope if we ever wage war again with Congress’ approval that we wage war to WIN the war. I also don’t understand why we don’t have a good propaganda machine in the Muslim world touting the good that we do. All they ever hear is the apology for Abu Graib, the apology for ‘torture’, the mantra that Islam is a ‘religion of peace’ (made up by western media to show it is ‘better’).

Feminists, are you listening?
Interesting lesson about the violence over the cartoons of Mohammed, which occured not when the cartoons came out, but when the apology for them was issued.
I’ve come to believe that the president’s apology for Abu Ghraib was a huge mistake.
In muslim culture, apology is not considered a sincere act of contrition, but an admission of weakness, and like other such admissions, only provokes them to further violence.
Apologizing for acts against or offensive to muslims is like using water on a fire – a grease fire.

Their not going to listen because it doesn’t fit their America is the source of all evil agenda.

That is a brilliant analogy. Dr. Hamid is smarter individually that our entire Federal government collectively.

Yea, but is that really so hard?

This was the mind-set involved when we went into Iraq. We were so leary of upsetting people back home and around the world (ala U.N.). Hence the small foot print. The downfall of our plan to free Iraq quickly.
That is still the biggest fear of our leaders today. Can you imagine the outcry if we destroy Iran’s nuke abilities or bombed the crap out of the Afgan/Paki border.

Good stuff! The libs will never get this and pretend they never heard it.

Dhimmicraps if you have an ear, hear this man!

I second Bab’s request; it seemed like just when the good doctor was on a roll, the interview was cut short.
So true. Also, appeasement and apology only embolden the aggressor, or the case of the cartoons, the aggrieved.

Dr. Hamid’s analysis is dead on target. How much is his expertise is being used or consulted by our government, if at all?
Kini on July 24, 2007 at 3:12 PM
Interesting. Zarwahiri is a product of the teaching, not the creator of it. I’ve known this all along, but never really conceptualized it.
Half power doesn’t work? Did he just justify the “kill them all” ideology?

Dr. Hamid has provided an expert diagnosis followed by an effective prescription. What remains to be seen is if our leadership will take their medicine.
I believe there are two major concepts that are foundational to success in this war:
1. Commit to a 20+ year presence in the region, Iraq and Afghanistan in particular, and eliminate any further public debate of withdrawal prior to that time frame. This would give those who help us the reassurance that we won’t abandon them to the forces of evil, which should be a further incentive to help. It also tells our enemy they will have a very long time to wait us out.
2. Whenever and wherever we use our military might, we must use overwhelming force to achieve the objective as quickly as possible without stopping short. History proves this is the most effective path to peace. It will also give our enemy pause (those who still remain that is).
Is it even possible to achieve this in today’s political climate?
kjspeedial on July 24, 2007 at 4:01 PM
Timely. As we’re sitting down “to talk” to Iran. Should be bombs away.
warriorlawyer on July 24, 2007 at 7:38 PM
He did. He’s a doctor and I would believe most doctors would cut the entire cancer out and not just part of it. It is a cancer, wouldn’t you agree?

Its noteworthy that just about everyone who considers themselves to be an “ex-terrorist” or “ex-jihadist” – such as Walid Shoebat, Kamal Saleem, Zach Anani, Hasaan Butt and others – claim the very thing that leftist pundits scoff at, i.e. that terrorists hate us for our freedoms, and that Islam has a unique theology inherent to it which requires waging war until the Day of Judgement.

Thanks for the doing interview Stak.
As usual, Hamid adds some thoughts I’ve never heard from anyone else. I’d like to see more of him and less of Ibrahim “honest Abe” Hooper in the media when a story needs some “perspective”.

BLIP TV just doesn’t work in Firefox very often, if at all. IE works fine.
Very few comments from post one and two, partly because of this issue.( plus somewhat weak headlines & partly because one needs to focus intently to understand him, his accent -(ok I do))

I hope you continue these even tho the comment count is low.
This islamafascist training and brainwashing description is so succinct on a small group of HUGE problems. It is also what some of us are so painfully aware.
A credible story from a past terrorist close to #2 in AQ, this is told in a way that anyone can understand, right?
SO, why does the left side of the aisle refuse to hear, and or believe, what is so obviously THE issue(s) of the century?
Thx Stak, Bryan and all.
