Video: A. Whitney Brown salutes our “morally retarded” troops, still isn’t funny

posted at 3:42 pm on July 23, 2007 by Allahpundit

Via LGF, which had to go all the way back to this morning to find a troop-hating post in the dKos archives as filthy as “Killitary” — which, for the record, was a pro-troop troop-hating post. This one would be a career killer if there was a career left to kill; as it is, although it’s clearly not a joke, it’ll magically become one once it starts making the rounds and the requisite outrage is mustered. I guess the new, not-at-all-O’Reilly-inspired pre-electoral housecleaning operation hasn’t gotten going in earnest yet.

Imagine how many episodes of SNL he could have brought to a screeching halt in the 16 years since he’s been gone if only Lorne had kept him around. For of all sad words of tongue or pen…

Update: Brown has clarified his remarks in the comments at dKos by indictating, yup, he meant every word.

I don’t know, sounds more like he’s mocking the constant cacophony of “I support the troops”. And he’s got a point, people say “I support the troops” so often it’s become a meaningless platitude along the lines of “Think of the children”.

corbettw on July 23, 2007 at 3:47 PM

Remember when funny meant funny?

I don’t need to, nor would I want to, click on the image to hear what kind of loony leftist bull@$#% that this pinheaded Brown might say. I remember this droning bore from his SNL days, and I couldn’t stand him then, either.

That was absolutely sickening.

kayawanee on July 23, 2007 at 3:53 PM

I would like to see that slimey little creep locked in a room with a “cowardly” or “queer” Marine.

It really is sad what our country is capable of producing.

By the way, since he hasn’t worked in years (aside from that stuff he does down in the Village at last call)what paychecks are having 35% deducted?

peacenprosperity on July 23, 2007 at 3:53 PM

I love that is seems like the Daily Krazy is swirming finally over all the garbage they have spewed over there.

They are anti american. Anti Semetic and just pure and outright hatemongers.

And they have the ears of the current party in charge of congress.

Time to let the American people know just what they got in the last election

William Amos on July 23, 2007 at 3:55 PM

Typical of the “intellectual” left to miss the obvious: It’s because of the “killitary” that you have the right to spout off your idiotic beliefs.

I just finished reading “Shooter” by and about the top Marine Corps sniper in Iraq. He said when the statue of Saddam was pulled down, some stupid Euro-trash anti-war protester shoved a calendar in his face with pictures of dead children and screamed “See what you did?!” He replied “What kind of a sick bastard makes a calender out of dead children?” Then a mob of Iraqis who were happy to be liberated was about to beat this anti-war moron to death and the author had to stop them. He saved the life of this ungrateful idiot then explained to the Iraqis that “This is democracy, everybody has the right to voice their opinion.” So they left the protester alone and she didn’t even thank him. As I said above, TYPICAL.

Tony737 on July 23, 2007 at 3:56 PM

He’s like Michael Moore with lung cancer after a round of chemo. But, like Moore he understands how to disguise self promotion and left wing hatred as comedic social commentary. Now millions of people will remember that A. Whitney Brown is still alive and his agent will return his phone calls for the first time in 6 years. Mission accomplished.

MarkB on July 23, 2007 at 4:02 PM

That about sums up the left’s meaning of I support the troops. One of the comments that threw me, he pays 35% in taxes which has added up to “hundreds of dollars”? WTF!

This video will be gone soon, real soon.

swami on July 23, 2007 at 4:04 PM

I hope someone makes a copy of this video, it’ll be scrubbed soon.

Bad Candy on July 23, 2007 at 4:06 PM

Holy crap! At least A. Whitney Brown shows his true colors. He shows that he knows alot of words, but can only use them to formulate one-dimensional concepts: killing = bad; Bush lied, kids died; free healthcare for all.

Next time he applies for a job, I hope the employer tells him, “hey, Taco Bell has its standards…”

stonemeister on July 23, 2007 at 4:09 PM

Wow. He’s even an ass in the comments to a mother who lost her son in Iraq.

frankj on July 23, 2007 at 4:10 PM

The loon probably wants a respectful fact based argument to refute his screed. No.

No respect from him, no respect to him. A fact based argument just buys into his frame of reference. No!

This looks like the same trail the Truthers blazed.

TunaTalon on July 23, 2007 at 4:10 PM

While watching some one crash and burn is painful, A. Whitney Brown also has a lot to do with self destruction. Fortunately he won’t be able to use the worn out excuses of “I was drunk” or “I was taken out of context”. He was a non-factor on SNL, and looks like a non-factor in real life as well.

Rode Werk on July 23, 2007 at 4:15 PM

Yossarian on July 23, 2007 at 3:56 PM

Exactly. Given the number of total losers employed by SNL over the years, how bad do you have to be to get rejected? I don’t recall ever hearing this schmuck’s name before, and I’m old enough to remember watching Belushi every Saturday.

Jaibones on July 23, 2007 at 4:16 PM

If you hate America, it will only follow that you will hate the American military, too. This country is full of Americans who hold America in utter contempt, and the reason is – the Socialist control of our education system. The Socialists have targeted our children for decades – and their hatred for this country is now being manifested, in all of its glory – by adults who they have re-educated. This has been the plan – target the children – so that America will rot from within. Remember the Nazi, Hitler Youth. Remember the Communist, Young Pioneers. The children are ALWAYS the target.

To all of you parents who have children in school – take responsibility for their education. Question them. Question what they’ve learned – every day. Talk to their teachers. Attend school board meetings. Be heard. Our children are the future of this Nation, and if they become Socialists, by parental default – then our Nation, as we know it, is lost. Only your active involvement can stop the re-education camps – now known as schools.

Paging Bill O’Reilly! Kos has a clip he wants you to highlight on national TV!

forest on July 23, 2007 at 4:33 PM

Give the guy a break. He probably just wanted to spit on our troops but knew he’d get a first class butt whuppin if he tried it so he had to do it from the safety of the internet. Luckily for him the internet is a refuge for no talent hacks so he got his chance.

Benaiah on July 23, 2007 at 4:41 PM

One more thing. I detest the talking point that the US military is killing innocent Iraqi’s. This is one small step away from labeling the troops baby killers.

I despise people like this clown.

swami on July 23, 2007 at 4:41 PM

I watched about 30 seconds of that… what a creep. If this country could swap 50 sanctimonious, pseudo-intellectual pricks like Brown for one average Army corporal, we’d be ahead of the game morally, spiritually, and, I suspect, intellectually as well.

corbettw on July 23, 2007 at 3:47 PM

I can kinda see this, but I think that level of satire is probably lost on ol’ A. Whitney. To say nothing of the KosKidz.

Lurking Vet on July 23, 2007 at 5:07 PM

this is a typical dkos entry. here’s another taste: What does “support the troops” mean?

the a whitney brown diary will be dodged as “satire”, but you can see in the link above that progressives go to great strain to make it very dry and unambiguous for us: progressives hate the troops.

but the weird thing is that if you google “progressives hate the troops”, here’s what you get:

Raising Kaine:: Webb Amendment Fails/Republicans Hate Our Troops

PoliPundit.com » Hippy Scum Hate US Troops

Reality Based Nation – “Every Democrat in the country needs to repeat the mantra at every turn: ‘The Republicans hate the troops!’”

Reality Based Nation – “Republicans hate the troops. By John Christian Plummer. Why do the Bush righties hate the troops?

Why Does the Bush Administration Hate Our Troops?

BuzzFlash.net – “why does bush hate our troops?”

Nathan Newman: Why Does Bush Hate Our Troops?

JM Bell Militant Progressive – “Republicans in general, and Bush in particular, actually hate the troops and want them to die

Cobalt6:: Republicans Hate Our Troops…duh

that’s the first page and a half of hits, uninterrupted. except by bits like this and this in which progressives whine instead about the mean ol’ republicans stigmatizing them as opposing the troops!

jummy on July 23, 2007 at 5:08 PM

I forgot this guy existed. Just another old SNL D lister that hates the USA, military and Bush. Vietnam Comedy Syndrome warmed up for the war on terror. I would rate him right under C. Chase imitating President Ford by simply bumping into something or falling down.

It would be fun to see him try and hold up in the studio next to Dennis Miller.

Hening on July 23, 2007 at 5:12 PM

jummy, that is weird, but we keep seeing reports of conservative sites getting scrubbed or knocked down from searches.

Bad Candy on July 23, 2007 at 5:15 PM

And I do that not only because I’m a patriotic American, although I am, but also because they take 35% out of my check every week and if I don’t pay it I will end up in jail.
That is what I mean by ‘I support our troops’. I mean I am involuntarily, under threat of prison, forced to pay for their support. Now do I resent that?

Who’s he trying to fool here? Unless he’s been mowing lawns on the side, Whitney Brown hasn’t had work in years.

jummy on July 23, 2007 at 5:19 PM

There’s that, and there’s also the fact that Google/YouTube itself filters to their own bias. About a year ago I Googled Congressional Scorecard, and the hits were evenly distributed among left- and right-leaning sites. About a month ago I did the same thing, and at least 95% of the hits in the first 7 pages were hard-left groups. The most prominent example is that the NRA was either the second or third hit in the original search, and was NOWHERE in the second.

I guarantee that NRA memebers look up their congressional scorecard at least as often as the Latin American Working Group, but currently you cannot find the NRA scorecard through Google. I’m weaning myself completely off of it, so should everyone. No Google, no Wiki.

imshocked on July 23, 2007 at 9:23 PM

This is just another example of a leftard who is able to state his hatred of America and the military because of the freedom that he enjoys due to our military. In other words, he is just an a$$.

However, I must respond to OSU and other people who also believe this.

This country is full of Americans who hold America in utter contempt, and the reason is – the Socialist control of our education system.

OhEssYouCowboys on July 23, 2007 at 4:33 PM

I have been teaching high school for twenty years and can assure you OSU that not all teachers are what you think. I suggest every year to my senior students to consider serving for four years in the military before going to college. I tell them that very few eighteen year olds know what they truly want to do with their lives and that serving in the military will give them more time to mature and will also teach them habits that will make them more successful in college. I say this from experience because this is what I did. Every day I am thankful for my military experience because of what it taught me about duty, honor, and country. Without that experience I seriously doubt that I would have the success in life that I have enjoyed. Believe it or not there are many other teachers in public education who feel this way as well. You just don’t hear as much about us because we do not do idiotic things in the classroom that put us in the news:)

dawgyear on July 23, 2007 at 9:27 PM

Check out what Whitney’s saying in the comments now!

I sincerely apologize for any offense you might
have taken. It was not my intent to defame or offend anyone who might sign a piece of paper saying they are available to kill whoever their marginally superior officer tells them to, wherever they are sent, for 1200 dollars a month. Such people are not responsible for the people they kill, or the people that are killed by those they feed, support, or maintain. On the contrary, they are in fact, larger than life, and immune to criticism, reproach, or correction. In short, they are all heroes. Why? Because they are, that’s why. I’m sorry you took any other message from it.

I tried to email this to tips, but I keep getting kicked back.

I guess people like him are lucky they can hide behind a computer screen because I’d drop him where he stood if I ever ran into him or others like him. My patience runs out on jack asses like this when they bring the family into it. I find that turds like this aren’t quite so confrontational when they get face to face with the people they are badmouthing.

Also you know, I hate to say this, but I have never really payed very much attention to the DK. I am a firm believer in the “know your enemy” concept, but I just cannot stomache their B.S. Today I really read the posts and I am stunned to see how ignorant the readers are of DK. It really is a sad and pathetic commentary on the education system in the U.S. Are these people legally allowed to breed?

A. Whitney Brown is just another liberal coward who feels the need to mask his lack of self esteem by insulting those who cause him to feel like the little girl that he is.

It’s one of the more obvious cases, as with other comedians such as Bill Maher. It’s well known that these class clowns are drawn to cracking jokes in an attempt to avoid actually being themselves.

It wouldn’t matter if these fools felt 100% sure that our country was in the right, or that a fight was absolutely necessary for our survival. Even if they felt war was justified, you wouldn’t see them signing up to protect their own families, let alone their country.

It must suck to be a full grown man and still want to hide under the bed. Trashing the brave would be the only way to live with yourself.

A reply from Baghdad

I’m reading this from Baghdad, shortly before I leave my FOB for a little jaunt into the red zone. And I have to say, I find your point refreshingly honest.

Of course, being a soldier (actually a sailor, but we’re all soldiers now) I think your words are factually incorrect and morally bankrupt, but refreshing nonetheless. I understand that a lot of people oppose this war, and I’m fine with that. What makes me angry is when people use “I support our troops” as a fig leaf for opposing everything we do. “Support our troops, Bring them Home!” strikes me as one of the most craven, hypocritical bromides to ever bubble up from an activist committee or political focus group.

Your diatribe is dishonest because it ascribes evil motive and intent to one party (the US military) without evidence or proof while ignoring the empirical evidence of evil motive and intent given to us every day by Al-Qaeda and the other fascists we fight, people who deliberately target civilians. It also attacks the military strategy we’ve enacted to oppose the fascists without offering an alternative, which I see as the greatest flaw of the anti-war movement.

But I like the fact you’re honestly anti-military. I respect an open opponent more than one who pretends to embrace me only to hide the raising of the knife.

LT Nichols

Somebody posted it for you. Here it is cut & pasted before it disappears from the thread over there…

From An Aquaintance… (0 / 0)
To you, he’s a “morally retarded idiot”, among other hateful things. To me, he is one of millions of men and women over time whom have helped provide and preserve your right to publicly spew your vitriolic diatribe. He read your diary entry and watched your video. His response is unedited and exactly as written. He conveyed his desire it be posted here:

I’m new here, that’s true, but Dk was recommended to me by another friend (to remain unnamed) who has been a member here for about 2 years. I was a fence sitter, registered Independant and voting for the “best man/woman for the job” for all my adult life, and I feel it’s time for me to choose a side now as there is too much to lose via poor choices. I have availed myself to the left and the right in an effort to make this difficult decision in time to re-register and vote along party lines for the first time. I have to say, at first I thought Dk was pretty awesome. I still think it is, but not so much anymore. I have delved into the heart of Daily Kos and looked closely at many of these diary’s, some by people of notierity, and most by just average people.

What I’ve seen is a great deal of is hate, anti-semetism, complete kookieness, and an air of ‘self-loathing’ or something to that effect. I can’t quite put my finger on it. In any event, I have to say, my friend who steered me here meant well, and it’s not all loons around these parts, but many of the diarys I read here leave a bad taste in my mouth. Yours is one of them.

It’s true, you are entitled to your opinion, like am I and everyone else. It’s an inherent right to have an opinion, it’s a constitutional right protected by those you spit on to espouse it publicly. You squander your right to speak out, with your vitriol. That’s my opinion.

Godspeed to all our military men and women.

I reset my password and was able to post it, but thanks to ‘an aquaintance’ for the help.
