Mother Sheehan: Democrats are the party of war, slavery, and nuclear holocaust

posted at 4:46 pm on July 23, 2007 by Allahpundit

I feel … a strange new respect. What was it Maureen Dowd said she had again?

Ah, yes. Absolute moral authority:

The Democrats are the party of slavery and were the party that started every war in the 20th century, except the other Bush debacle. The Federal Reserve, permanent federal income taxes, not one but two World Wars, Japanese concentration camps, and not one but two atom bombs dropped on the innocent citizens of Japan — all brought to us via the Democrats.

That discordant reference to the Federal Reserve makes me wonder: assuming she doesn’t run for president herself, might St. Cindy’s endorsement next fall produce the ultimate moronic convergence?

When she turns against a party, she goes all the way.

Slublog on July 23, 2007 at 4:48 PM

I especially love how the wars they started are in past tense but she says “they *are* the party of slavery.”

Alex K on July 23, 2007 at 4:50 PM

“The Democrats are the party of slavery and were the party that started every war in the 20th century, except the other Bush debacle.”

The endless critics of Bob Dole’s “Democrat Wars” line from 1976 could not be reached for comment.

That right there is some serious crazy.

Absolute moral authority does not mean absolute grammaticalistic authority.

There has always been a thin line of love/hate between the Democrats. Think Zel Miller! “The Party has changed, not me!”

Like finding a botfly larvae infestation that quickly encroaches on the underlying grey matter, for instance? Pure speculation on my part. Just curious. That’s all.

The Democrats are the party…that started every war in the 20th century…

They’re the ones who shot Archduke Ferdinand? I knew it!

I’ll expect Michael Moore to shed new light on this old affair in his next cinematic shocker, Fahrenheit 1914.

Hmmm, I’m sure I should say something, but Hmmm is all I can think of. This is definitional one case where “the enemy of my enemy is not my friend”.

doriangrey on July 23, 2007 at 4:59 PM

There are a number of threads on DU today calling for all mentions of Mother Sheehan to be banned once she announces that she’s running against Pelosi. It reminds me of a class on Witch Trials that I once took. Accusations of witchcraft were usually tolerated until they reached too far up the social hierarchy.

Hey, John Cougar Mellencamp thinks FDR may have caused Pearl Harbor, so why not? ;)

Ed Driscoll on July 23, 2007 at 5:01 PM

Good Heavens! She’s either off her meds or has been taking extra doses.

Brat on July 23, 2007 at 5:01 PM

Is Mother Sheehan actually part of the grand machiavellian plot brilliantly orchestrated by The Evil Karl Rove that is designed to split the Democratic Party?

aunursa on July 23, 2007 at 5:03 PM

What I’m looking forward to is the name of the party she’s going to start. She can’t just make some namby-pamby “Independent” run against Pelosi. It’s going to have to be bold and contain words like “Truth” and “Freedom” and “Justice” and “Peace” and “People’s” and “Starchild”. Well…maybe not “Starchild”.

eeyore on July 23, 2007 at 5:04 PM

I wonder who writes these things for her. She isn’t smart enough to know all of that.

DaveS on July 23, 2007 at 5:06 PM

rw on July 23, 2007 at 5:00 PM

At least some of the individuals officiating over the Salem witch trials later recanted and made public apologies. Think THAT will ever happen with the liberals? There’d have to be a shred of decency/integrity left somewhere-in-there. My prediction? Not in MY lifetime.

Thomas the Wraith on July 23, 2007 at 5:09 PM

1. Last I checked, the Japanese attacked us. The Democrats did not start World War II.

2. She doesn’t much care for anybody anymore, does she?

All of us mere mortals can never ascend to her level of absolute moral superiority.

Hawkins1701 on July 23, 2007 at 5:10 PM

I’ll expect Michael Moore to shed new light on this old affair in his next cinematic shocker, Fahrenheit 1914.

Watching the fat bastich on Harball right now. The Sheehans and Moores of this country are going to drag the Dems so far left in the next election, if the surge is moderately successful it could be a lot more interesting than it looks today.

“Japanese concentration camps”

You might have expected her to mention the GERMAN concentration camps, where millions of Jews were burned alive, but then…

this is one moonbat who believes Jews killed her son, so the German concentration camps just dont count.

Like I said, its Chomsky or a Chomsky disciple at work here. CIndy herself is too stuuupid to have ever read a history book in her life.

Heartache on heartache….
“They flee from me who once did seek me out.” (apologies to The Prime of Miss Jean Brody)

Mother Sheehan is now being cast-out by those who once gave her shelter, who used Ms. Sheehan’s grief to pursue their political agendas – that being a most charitable pov – and now she is striking back: a mother scorned. Pathetique.
I say, let’s not focus on the wounded decoy. I agree with Rush in having real pity for the woman.

Two nuclear bombs were dropped on civilians by a Democrat…

SoulGlo on July 23, 2007 at 5:24 PM

That’s obviously true, but not a very complete picture. There were obviously civilians killed at Hiroshima and Nagasaki. And causing spectacular damage that would undermine the Japanese will to fight was a conscious strategic objective.

That said, Hiroshima was selected because, in addition to being large enough to demonstrate the full capabilities of the bomb, it was also the headquarters of the 2nd General Army, responsible for the overall defense of southern Japan, and a regional logistics and industrial center.

Nagasaki was a major port city and a significant producer of both ships and a wide variety of ordnance. (Kokura, the original target for the bomb ultimately dropped on Nagasaki, was one of Japan’s largest military arsenals, producing tens of thousands of rifles, aviation bombs, and many other forms of ordnance used against US forces.)

If civilians were the only targets, Kyoto would have been bombed (in fact, it was actively rejected as a suitable target). Shocking the Japanese leadership and people was definitely part of the nuclear bombing plan, but the targets were chosen for sound strategic reasons, not for cruel intent.

Blacklake on July 23, 2007 at 5:52 PM

Heh!
Now not so fast about them World Wars. If she meant that Democrats, that is to say, socialist fascists started the Wars, then she does correctly identify the NAZI Party. Thus she’s saying the Democrats are the Socialist Fascist War-Mongering Party of Slavery.
Ahh. Not much to tweak, except maybe the Socialist Fascist Surrendering-Monkey Uber-Taxing Party of Slavery.
When do we get to hear the NYT’s announcement that Sheehan has been a conservative Republican all along?
Did someone already mention that? Sorry.

naliaka on July 23, 2007 at 6:02 PM

moronic convergence?

Without a doubt and it makes perfect sense.
A Sheehan endorsement of Ron Paul? Why not?

The wavelengths are practically the same. Cindy’s all chewed up and spat out by the liberals anyway, so no friends there anymore.

Ron Paul’s absurd foreign policy and possibly economics, ostracized as loony by the right, dove tails quite nicely.

Historically known as Madison’s war, with A. Back then, it was called the Democratic-Republican party methinks (at least, I think that’s what Jefferson called it).

NightmareOnKStreet on July 23, 2007 at 8:54 PM

That discordant reference to the Federal Reserve makes me wonder: assuming she doesn’t run for president herself, might St. Cindy’s endorsement next fall produce the ultimate moronic convergence?

That convergence can very be well underway. Momma Moonbat has been romantically linked to Lew Rockwell – who is also a supporter of the Paulian cult leader – and both have a strong position calling for the elimination of the Fed and the return to the gold standard. Rockwell is also someone who says the NAU is just around the corner – so expect the Momma Moonbat pick up this meme as well and use her ‘absolute moral authority’ to promote it.

This just proves that politics is circular. The fringes wrap right around so far that their positions are almost identical.

Athos on July 23, 2007 at 9:10 PM

I’m somewhat embarrassed to find that my opposition to the Federal Reserve is shared by Ron Paul and Cindy. I’m at least allowed to argue that Ron Paul may be right about something. I suspect Cindy’s opposition is just raging incoherence.
