When the founder of your religion is a demon possessed, mass-murdering, plagerizing, pedophile, I can see how humor would be given short shrift in the Muslim world.

Actually I disagree. You’d think that would make Muslims are pretty funny bunch … always having to deal with that history. At the very least, it ought to make Muslim jokes more common. That there is comedy gold.

These people are variously sad, tragic, and/or infuriating. I don’t mean to denigrate their transgressions by laughing at them, but I also can’t help seeing the absurdity of their situations.

Dubya HAD to say that b.s. about islam being the R.o.P. because had he told the truth about islam, we’d have lost all of our allies in the M.E., we’d have no bases from which to invade Afghanistan, the Afghans would not have defeated the taliban but instead would have joined them. Pakistan could have taken sides with A.Q. and given them a few nukes to play with. Saudi Arabia would’ve cut off our oil supply, we’d be sitting in long lines for 10 dollar a gallon gas. Maybe Saddam would’ve used it to unite the muslim world behind him and make him the Caliph as Iraq is the historical seat of the Caliphate, or maybe the muslim world would have united behind Osama and made HIM the Caliph. Then we’d hafta just nuke the whole M.E. and THAT would get Pres. Bush banned from HotAir!

That was pretty much the same argument I used in President Bush’s defense. But I’ve had a problem with the Muslim groups his administration and the State Dept. chose as “moderates” and have not been able to figure out if they are simply naive or if they had some secret reason for dealing with the groups they chose. Kind of like the revelation that the Dubai ports deal was supposed to be a big spy operation. Everything else gets leaked, but not that?

That’s a good point,Tony. I had not considered that, but you’re absolutely correct. It’s easy for me to forget that we do have allies over there and I am grateful that we do. I was venting a bit in that post… that was me being Christian Rage Boy!

He sits down and the table in his brealfast nook and opens up his newspaper. “Hmm, the mujahdeen killed an American soldier today, very good.” But then he sees the Danish Mohammed cartoon: Suddenly you hear that high pitched music and the camera zooms in on his eyes rurning green! His t-shirt start to tear open, he stands up 7 feet tall and roars “RRRAAAAAHHHH!!! HULK SMASH CARTOON!” He smashed the table, turns and runs and crashes through the door, he runs (in slow motion or course) to the newspaper’s office building, crashes through the door and growls “HULK SMASH PAPER IN THE NAME ALLAH!
