Why “Islamic Rage Boy” Isn’t Funny

When you stop and think about it, Christopher Orlet’s premise is a good one. I’m a Christian and yet I find Christians like Fred Phelps and his “God Hates Fags” crew to be hilarious. Ted Haggard? Comedy gold. Or if I’m in the mood for less slapstick buffoonery, the Episcopal church provides plenty of bittersweet laughs. So if I can laugh at and tell jokes about Christian leaders, why can’t Muslims do the same to their own leaders? Or even certain of their clueless followers, like the ubiquitous Islamic Rage Boy?
Orlet thinks it may have something to do with an Islamic ban on most humor and jokes. That would explain a lot, not least of which why CAIR’s Ibrahim Hooper comes off like such a humorless prig in his BBC debate with one of Islamic Rage Boy’s creators.

if you have ever met a muslim you will find that Mullahs are the object of much mockery, having dinner with a muslim extended family once people were discussing the family and religion etc and they would make fun of the mullahs etc, reminded me of chaucer. The more orthodox amoung them wouldnt laugh so openly, but then do any orthodox people laugh at their religions?

It seems to me that people don’t like to have their belief mocked. So if so many muslims can’t stand to have rage boy mocked what does that tell us?

No sense of humor? Little wonder they’re so cranky.

How can you not giggle at a “religion” that makes men and women stay fully dressed during sex? Lighten up there Mooslams!

That was all well and good, but I could have saved him a half of a page with one sentence.
Muslims don’t find it funny because Muslim teachings encourages serious psychological character flaws in it’s followers.

I’ve a muslim friend and it’s true…she has a very hard time laughing at anything even remotely joshing about islam. Occasionally she’ll come up with something, but for the most part there just don’t seem to be the jokes about islam like there are about Christianity, Judiasm, et al.
Bob's Kid on July 21, 2007 at 9:46 AM
actualy the whole Moslem non humour thing is a defense mechanism…
Humour, and especialy sarcasm, has to have a bit of truth in it to bight… just like “you might be a redneck” type of joke, they are based on some example that we’ve seen, or heard about…
So, if they open the door to humour about Islam, where it is against LAW to dis the religion… it’ll start the whole house of cards sliding down…
What we really need is a true Anti Jihad Comedy Tour… Andrew Dice Clay type of comedians talking Islam… have to have huge security… But…

When the founder of your religion is a demon possessed, mass-murdering, plagerizing, pedophile, I can see how humor would be given short shrift in the Muslim world.
Like Jesus said, you know a tree by its fruit. In Islam what’s there to laugh at? The women are treated worse than cattle so you KNOW the homefront is an agry one. Men have multiple wives so that adds to the anger at home. The people have been cowed for centuries so all that’s left in the gene pool are the crazies and the cowards. Not much to laugh at.

We owe muslims nothing! No explanations, and no apologies. They are the ones who owe the world an explanation. And dialog? give me a break. How many of you who are parents would dialog ( i.e. – try to gain an empathetic understanding of things from thier perspective in order to understand the root cause… ) with your kids if they were continously engaging in unacceptable, dangerous behavior?
The civilised world, especially Western culture, is the adults in this scenario. We make the rules, we set the boundaries ( which, unfortunately have become more and more secular – that’s just my opinion ). Souds arrogant to a Libtard, but it’s reality.
If so-called moderate muslims want to talk, fine. Let’s talk about their complicity, their disregard for the actions of their radical brothers. Let’s talk about what they should be doing to help us send these bastards to hell.
But crying foul when your religion is rightfully disrepected because its adherants claim heavenly mandate to blow up our cities? Grow up! My religion is disrespected by secular elites in my own country every single day. And my religion has been responsible for just about every good and noble thing that takes place on this earth.
Ann Coulter got a lot of greif when she said that we should invade their countries, remove their leaders, and convert them to christianity. But she rightfully pointd out that within two weeks of 9/11, steps one and two were official US policy. I agree with Ann – I always do. That’s why I was disheartened when W said that Islam is a “Religion of Peace”. Totally inappropriate and not what the nation needed to hear. He said that to be PC, and to avoid flaming barbarian violence. If Islam is indeed a religion of peace, it is not our burden to prove it – we are NOT obligated to be apologists for Islam. Rather, it’s up to Islam to prove to the world that they can be civilised adults, and not just a bunch of homicidal maniacs and crying, baby Rage Boys.

My wife is an assistant restaurant manager at a franchise store. As such, she sometimes gets farmed out to other restaurants that need help.
At one store the manager was Muslim. One time when she was helping at this store, he asked, ” what are you having for supper tonight when you get home?” My wife told hime porkchops.
He chuckled and said, “I will pray for your porkchops!”
She related this to me and I almost busted a gut laughing.
After that she said the “porkchop joke” was a constant thing of amusement between them whenever she had to work there.
Maybe Islamic Rage boy needs a porkchop.

I don’t find Rage boy funny, either. In fact, he is so boringly like EVERY Muslim that he is shockingly average. Average isn’t funny!

See-dubya, I have really enjoyed your commentary and analysis in the past, and I am confident, in the future. But I will respectfully choose to disagree with you on this issue.
I’m a Christian too, and I found nothing “hilarious” or “funny” about the unfortunate Phelps or Haggard situation.
ColtsFan on July 21, 2007 at 11:39 AM
Dubya HAD to say that b.s. about islam being the R.o.P. because had he told the truth about islam, we’d have lost all of our allies in the M.E., we’d have no bases from which to invade Afghanistan, the Afghans would not have defeated the taliban but instead would have joined them. Pakistan could have taken sides with A.Q. and given them a few nukes to play with. Saudi Arabia would’ve cut off our oil supply, we’d be sitting in long lines for 10 dollar a gallon gas. Maybe Saddam would’ve used it to unite the muslim world behind him and make him the Caliph as Iraq is the historical seat of the Caliphate, or maybe the muslim world would have united behind Osama and made HIM the Caliph. Then we’d hafta just nuke the whole M.E. and THAT would get Pres. Bush banned from HotAir!

Just imagine if Bruce Banner had converted to islam!
He sits down and the table in his brealfast nook and opens up his newspaper. “Hmm, the mujahdeen killed an American soldier today, very good.” But then he sees the Danish Mohammed cartoon: Suddenly you hear that high pitched music and the camera zooms in on his eyes rurning green! His t-shirt start to tear open, he stands up 7 feet tall and roars “RRRAAAAAHHHH!!! HULK SMASH CARTOON!” He smashed the table, turns and runs and crashes through the door, he runs (in slow motion or course) to the newspaper’s office building, crashes through the door and growls “HULK SMASH PAPER IN THE NAME ALLAH! RRRRAAAAHHHH LA LA LA LA LA LA LA LA LA!!”
Tony737 on July 21, 2007 at 11:55 AM
oooops! That should say “breaKfast” and “oF course” … damn these tiny buttons!
Tony737 on July 21, 2007 at 11:58 AM
That’s a good point,Tony. I had not considered that, but you’re absolutely correct. It’s easy for me to forget that we do have allies over there and I am grateful that we do. I was venting a bit in that post… that was me being Christian Rage Boy!

God hates Fags = not following the Bible (read the new testament all those who would poo-poo on that comment, and even in the old there was always a way out, so hate can’t be in there. Think of those that hate bush, they give him no way out)
Hiring male hookers = Not following the Bible
I keeeel you = Following the Koran

Good article.
Moderate Islam Is No Islam
“There is no such thing as moderate Islam. There is no such thing as secular Islam or a secular Muslim. It’s the nature of the faith to deny any separation of religion and the state or religion and society. There are numerous sects within Islam. One and all are extremes and not in the least amenable to change. Keep in mind that Islam claims that it is the perfect eternal faith for mankind. Splits have occurred and will continue to occur in Islam. Yet, reformation has not happened in nearly 1400 years and is not going to happen. Islam is carved in granite, just the way it is. No change. Allah’s book is sealed. “

Agree with your money quote, IrishEi. That statement still resonates in my mind.
I think the composite picture of Rage Boy is actually more complimentary of him than the photograph.

Christians can have a sense of humor because they know they have a savior. For a Muslim, there is nothing between them and Hell except their own obedience to a cruel set of laws, Sharia. I’d be pretty grumpy too.

To clarify, Colts Fan (11:39)–
These people are variously sad, tragic, and/or infuriating. I don’t mean to denigrate their transgressions by laughing at them, but I also can’t help seeing the absurdity of their situations.

Actually I disagree. You’d think that would make Muslims are pretty funny bunch … always having to deal with that history. At the very least, it ought to make Muslim jokes more common. That there is comedy gold.

As a committed Christian, I am accustomed to having both my beliefs and my Redeemer mocked. The difference between my faith and all others, is that Jesus has has promised to take care of both those who believe Him and those who mock Him. It’s not my problem.

How can you expect a muslim to have a sense of humor like everybody else? Muslims are like Travis Bickle in Taxi Driver.
They don’t like the world around them, they develop a sociopathic asexual pathology, yet they are jealous of what they see, they don’t have any friends, they don’t get along with anybody other than other taxi drivers, that incubates a rage, they arm themselves to the teeth, and then they go out to kill somebody for a just cause. Except instead of being angry at bad people, as Travis was, they are filled with rage for the good.
We look and laugh at Rage Boy. And Rage Boy lifts his gun and says, “You talkin’ to me?”

When Mel Brooks made fun of the Nazis’ and then Hogan’s Heroes appeared on network television, some people were aghast that the horror of the party would be forgotten and become popularized. Instead, this approach proved that it can expose how ridiculous the dreaded subject is faster than the best debating minds on the planet. “Sands of Time” is an example of targeting some of the basic ideals of Islam and exposing them as the self serving, idiotic, barbaric acts of hypocrites. Sorry to say that no one in Hollywood has the guts to produce anything like this.
