Hardball Catfight Video: Melanie Morgan v. Naomi Wolf on Traitors, Cleavage

posted at 4:37 pm on July 21, 2007 by see-dubya

Whoa, Nellie. After some really bizarre discussion of Hillary’s wardrobe, Naomi Wolf hauls off and takes a big ol’ rhetorical swing at Melanie Morgan about four minutes in.

Wolf smiles and nods the whole time, and she sounds like an arch-feminist Mr. Rogers gently calling Morgan “Stalinist” and “un-American” for her thoughts on NYT editor Bill Keller’s culpability for treason. She’s utterly dishonest as well, pretending that Morgan and others claimed Keller ought to stand trial for his opinions–when in fact her accusations arose out of the New York Times publication of classified data that stood to affect the course of the war and assist terrorists in evading capture.

I’m not a Democratic consultant. I just advised Gore on matters. That doesn’t mean I’m consulting for Democrats. I’m just consulting for Democrats!

Boy, if you oppose Stalinist plots, you must be a Stalinist!

Man, I need a video camera to do some comedy work. We need more skits about full-dress Nazis accusing other people of being Nazis for interrupting them.

Merovign on July 21, 2007 at 5:02 PM

What an impressive display of intellectual dishonesty! Wolf twisted and twirled as much as she could and I’d for one love a straight answer out of her – is it or is it not treasonous to publish classified battlefield intelligence during war time?

That was the other guest’s sole point – and every thing Wolf said was simply attacking her own straw man.

Is that woman annoying or what? First, she’s one of those people whose intelligence is obviously nowhere near where they think it is; she may think she’s brilliant, but if that conversation was any indication, she’s not as smart as she pretends.

Second – why, dear God, why … do so many liberals have that high, weak, breathy, snobbish, snooty tone to their voice in everything they say? Why? Seriously – is it genetic?

A final question, for any liberal: could you please give me ONE example of behavior that IS DEFINITELY treason … and which should be punished as treason?

Can anybody help with that last one? Because apparently the new meme is that calling treasonous behavior what it is means you’re in favor of a Stalinist dictatorship.

Oh, never mind. These are the same people that think I’m a racist bigot for suggesting that our borders should be treated like, you know, borders.

WOW. For any conservative, any republican, even any mushy moderate or right leaning independent who was demoralized over immigration or had soured on the war this is the cure for what ails you. Watching that clip and looking into the face of Ms. Wolf was like staring into the abyss. I realize people want to vote for something and not just against something but I’m pretty sure that 50.1% of the electorate would vote against that. Fox and conservative radio needs to have her on as often as possible. Don’t even attack her. Compliment her, tell her how lovely she looks today and how wonderful it is to have such an articulate liberal guest. Let her speak as much as possible. She can do for Hillary what she did for Gore.

Some lessons I’ve learned since childhood.

Oppressors (Marxist Democrats) accuse their victims of oppression.

When you see a Democrat talking head,, or any Democrat leader for that matter, talking,, it is safe assume the truth is the opposite of what ever they say.

There are some very good men and women conservative Republicans in this country. Unfortunately,, they are allowing themselves to be whipped by much smaller minded, much weaker and lesser men and women.

I love how Naomi Wolf defends her assertions be throwing up the “read the constitution” line. They should have asked her what she thinks of the 2nd amendment if she’s such a constitutional scholar.

All that double talk, deflecting and projecting and she did it with a strait face. That takes skill to piss all over your host and co-guests and not change your pantamiter or inflection.

Naomi Wolf speaks like a well trained communist. Selective hearing, blurring statements of others, unblinking in the face of facts. Her body language speaks volumes of her disdain and condescension of those who dare to challenge her “opinion”. How dare they!

No, Miss Wolf seems not to care for our system of government or the safety of our beloved troops. She, I think, would feel more at home in Russia.

Legions on July 21, 2007 at 6:53 PM

Why is it crazy for Melanie Morgan to say that she’d be okay if someone convicted of treason were executed? Is the death penalty now by default to be considered a crazy position by MSNBC hosts and their more vapid guests?

I really wish Melanie had been able to make that point. Instead, unfortunately, she let them gang her into a position of defending the execution of Bill Keller. Bill Keller is completely irrelevant. Melanie’s talking about a principal, the punishment of treason, not some kind of death wish on Bill Keller, for crying out loud.

And could Naomi Wolf have possibly been more condescending? She’s the genius, by the way, who wrote in her foolish book The Beauty Myth that 150,000 women died each year from anorexia. Christine Hoff Sommers check out her citations and later found that the real figure was 100-400. Not 100,000-400,000, mind you, but 100-400, period.

Naomi Wolf posited a veritable Holocaust of anorexic women and didn’t even think twice about its obvious ridiculousness because it served her agenda. What a joke that woman is.

It’s amazing how history repeats itself and the treasonous “Peace Democrats” of 2007 disgust me.

If it were up to Liberal “Peace Democrats” of 1864 the North would have given up. The Liberal “Peace Democrats” wanted to let the South shave their “rights” and throw in the white towel.

The 1864 Liberal “Peace Democrats” wanted to let slavery be legal, because they didn’t think the war was “worth it”, etc…

President Lincoln had the majority of American against him. The majority of Americans wanted Lincoln to give up and just let the South secede and allow slavery.

The Liberal “Peace Democrats” were so crazy in their disagreement with the Civil War that Lincoln had to arrest more than 13,000 Americans and suspend Habeus Corpus!!!

Far-Left Liberals think Bush is a freaking “Fascist”!!!?? What would they have thought of Abraham Lincoln?

Liberal far Left Democrats would have been having a crap fit in 1864.

http://www.civil-liberties.com/pages/did_lincoln.htm

Quote:

Did President Lincoln suspend the U.S. Constitution?

Answer: No

Did President Lincoln suspend Habeas Corpus?

Answer: Yes, in 1861 and 1862

Was Habeas Corpus ever restored?

Answer: Yes, in 1866.
==================================================

Liberal Democrats under Abraham Lincoln did the same thing as Liberal Democrats today are doing under Bush to undermine the Iraq War.

This is the 1864 Democrat Party platform:

Democratic Party Platform

http://www.sonofthesouth.net/democratic-party-platform.htm

Quote:
========================================================
Democratic Party Platform

By 1864, the Country had grown weary of the long and bloody Civil War.

Hundreds of thousands of the countries’ best and bravest young men had fallen on the fields of Bull Run, Antietam, Shiloh, and countless more. Many began to think that the war was not worth it, and the price of freedom too great.

The Republican Presidential Candidate Abraham Lincoln thought no price was too great for the abolition of slavery and the creation of a society in which a man was not judged by the color of his skin. Unfortunately, after four long years of war, Lincoln’s support was dropping fast, and people were looking for a way out of the war.
=====================================================

Quote:
======================================================
Quote:
The Democratic Platform:
The 1864 Democratic Platform began with the words:

Resolved, that in the future, as in the past, we will adhere with unswerving fidelity to the Union under the Constitution, as the only solid foundation of our strength, security, and happiness as a people, and as a framework of government equally conducive to the welfare and prosperity of all the States, both Northern and Southern.

Nast wrapped these words around an image of their true meaning, showing men and dogs hunting down runaway slaves. The image to your left presents this portion of the illustration above.
===================================================

Quote:
=======================================================
Quote:
The Chicago Platform further reads:

that the aim and object of the Democratic party are to preserve the federal Union and the rights of the States unimpaired

Nast’s Illustration then points out that the “Rights of the States Unimpaired” was a nice way of saying, “States may Continue to practice Slavery, with all its associated brutality, unencumbered by the Federal Government”.

The illustration shows a slave auction. At the slave auction, a black family is being sold.

The Mother is being sold separately from the child and Husband.

Clearly, the family was being split apart and sold separately. In the second image, a black man is shown tied to a tree and being brutally beaten by two men with whips. Other slaves are forced to watch the brutality, I suppose as a warning to them. All this was accepted practice in the United States of the 1850′s and 1860′s. The Democratic Platform of 1864 was strongly supporting continuing this practice as “Business as Usual”.
========================================================

Liberal “Peace Democrats” wanted to give up on the Civil War, shrug their shoulders & continue to allow slavery, and Liberal Democrats want to give up today shrug their shoulders and let Iraq plunge into worse chaos.

Abraham Lincoln would have been deomonized by Liberal “Peace Democrats” of today. And their would be alot their treasonous asses locked up.

It’s not spouting an opinion when you’re leaking government information!

Seriously, would that line have worked on Novak’s defense? He wasn’t leaking Plame’s name (though it’s hard to argue that she’d been kept a secret); he was only giving an opinion.

In fact, it fits more accurately here.

People wanted to know why a man, a former ambassador who kept his position for such a short time was sent over there in the first place. Novak’s opinion is that it was because of his wife.

The GOP is worthless so long as it doesn’t serve this country’s interests, and it has long since proven that it does that almost no better than the Democrats, and that sucks. Cling to your party, April, and I’ll cling to my God, my Country, and my Constitution. Good luck with your choice.

But “crazy as Cindy Sheehan”? Come on.

see-dubya on July 22, 2007 at 2:30 AM

Listen, she and her ilk is what causes us to lose. Many of her followers refuse to believe it but most of America is moderate.

She and Sheehan represent the far spectrum of either side and I am telling you, most Americans just don’t go for this. And they certainly do not want to hear and witness people, especially Republicans, walking in lock step while throwing out buzz words like treason or talking about people being put to death because they think they should be.

C’mon, what makes her any different than the fools who think the President and Cheney belong in jail or should be arrested for treason – like Sheehan?

They are nuts and they are ruining this country, period.

AprilOrit on July 22, 2007 at 4:20 AM

I agree with Melonie.

Bill Keller, if convicted of treason, should be executed. And his boss, Pinch Sulzberger, too!

Note the emphasis on if they *are* convicted of treason.

The punishment for treason as specified in 18 USC 2381 *IS* the death penalty or a $10,000 fine and 10 years in prison.

In this respect Melanie is absolutely correct.

However, Keller, et. al., also violated another federal law, the Espionage Act by publishing ILLEGALLY OBTAINED CLASSIFIED MATERIALS. Why these disloyal pissants aren’t making smaller rocks out of larger ones already, I don’t know.

georgej on July 22, 2007 at 5:53 AM

Adam Gadhan is the only person charged with treason in something like 60 years so its not as if the White House throws the charge around lightly. The New York Times’ circulation will continue on its death spiral as they continue to lose money. They’re overinvested in ideology.

sleestak on July 22, 2007 at 8:36 AM

This is such a central. crucial matter in the war – treason/freedom of speech – and my gut has always told me that the utter failure to engage it will be George W. Bush’s greatest mistake.

Liberals are essentially demanding that treason no longer be considered a crime. Indeed, they want it to be worn by all as a badge of honor. If we say “OK, we’ll never get a prosecution anyway, even when al-Qaeda is handed national security secrets by the New York Times” we set a suicidal precedent. Whatever the next big war is, if liberals succeed with this “nothing is treasonous” campaign, I doubt the nation will survive it.

The reason liberals who commit treason by facilitating Islamist victory scream so loud about “our right to criticize government” is exactly because they know they are committing treason but can easily hide behind the 1st Amendment, since no one on the Right has the guts anymore to speak the truth or to act upon it. It is so refreshing to hear Melanie Morgan mince no words. Would that our president were so brave about identifying the traitors amonst us.

The fact that AP had exchanged e-mails with you doesn’t mean techno_barbarian is wrong.

doriangrey on July 22, 2007 at 2:29 PM

I love you, Melanie Morgan! She was right on the money with her quote and her steadfastness after that Al Gore earthtones consultant tried to misrepresent her and the US Constitution. Should those slugs who disclose secrets to the public face prosecution up to and including execution for treason? Absolutely! When this country had balls, everyone on the street would have expected as much. Now this idiotic ‘peace is patriotic’ kind of BS is floating around and people don’t realize what it really takes to keep a free country. Dissent is just fine up to when you release secret documents or disclose secret programs – then it is treason. If these @$$holes from the NY Crimes really believed what they said, they should be willing to die for their ideals.

Abu Daboo Doo on July 22, 2007 at 2:48 PM

Am I the only one sick of liberals whining that the Bush administration calls war dissenters “un-American” or “un-patriotic” (because he’s never said those things, while in the same interview, these libs think it’s perfectly acceptable to call their conservative debate opponents those exact names!

Oh, God, yes! It’s infuriating, yet dizzying in it’s genius. Identifying someone as unAmerican or questioning their patriotism are now tactics reserved exclusively for the left, which gets to use such attacks with impunity whilst decrying the right for ever daring to try it themselves.

Bonus points for the fact that most of the left’s whining is completey unsubstantiated. The President and the congressional Republicans are far too timid to call a spade a spade, yet the left acts like their patriotism has been under attack all this time. If only.

Head-spinning.

Kensington on July 22, 2007 at 2:59 PM

To be critical of the war is democracy in action. To be critical of the way this admin has handled many things (immigration) is patriotism.

AprilOrit on July 22, 2007 at 2:16 AM

What strawman nonsense. No one on the right, including Melanie Morgan, says that criticism is inherently unpatriotic or innappropriate.

Consider, however, that it is possible to be critical without committing treason. This was a discussion of genuinely treasonous activity, not mere criticism.

Finally, whilst you’re trumpeting your patriotic criticism, can I share with you something else that is patriotic, something that’s rarely tried by you folks on the left? Patriotism.

Kensington on July 22, 2007 at 3:04 PM

Treason, punishable by death – it all belongs in the movies…LOL.

AprilOrit on July 22, 2007 at 11:51 AM

April honey, we ARE at WAR! If some leak happened to get my son killed while he was in Iraq, yes, I would concider that treason. I would make sure that person was found guilty of murder. Loose lips sink ships. I feel too much information is put out for the public. It sould be like when my mother recieved letters from my dad during WWII with holes and black parts. Let our soldiers do what they have been trained for. I wish Naeomi could walk a mile in a soldier shoes in Iraq, she would change her tune.

ChrisIansNana on July 22, 2007 at 4:18 PM

If I see Illegal Alien Day Laborers sexually assaultng Naomi Wolf, at that exact moment, my name will become………………………….John Doe.

Ha ha , no need to worry about that, she is hardly their type, they tend to gravitate toward blondes, I now I live in Manhattan, as does she…LOL. They would not give her a second look upo here.

AprilOrit on July 22, 2007 at 11:53 AM

Uh, wrong! The preference for an illegal alien day laborer is the same as every other man, which is (are you ready)… WOMEN! Want proof? It’s called Univision, or Telemundo. Why else would my wife (she is American Indian, Spanish and Scandinavian, but is quite dark- she looks Greek or Persian) have been on the receiving end of so much unwanted attention from the illegals when we were high school students? It’s flat out arrogant and stupid to think that because you live in New York, you are the Authority. Surely us fly-over, mouth breathing, cousin lovers couldn’t know anything about illegal immigrants-after all, only the vast agriculture fields of downtown Manhattan could attract an illegal.

Normally, I don’t go off like this, but I am so tired of stupid after watching that clip (Noami Wolf is a window licker- How can she get paid for her opinions?), I need to let off some steam.

Hmmm, that iisn’t what I meant at all. You are assuming way too much…LOL.

AprilOrit on July 22, 2007 at 5:14 PM

Heh Heh WHAT?!? You call that cleavage? Looks like she just dropped her eyeliner pencil to me. Ok if you say so, but the real attention getter is the Code Pink blazer. This is the reason for the whole fashion aspect of the story. Its another way for HC to pander. She is trying to be all things to all people. CODE STINK !!

sonnyspats1 on July 22, 2007 at 5:15 PM

My grandparents have a house in Leesburg, VA/Loudoun Co, I know all about it, really. In the 60s they had a place in Herndon.

well mz. wolf certainly wasn’t smiling at the end when she realized what had been handed to her on a platter…

wryteacher on July 22, 2007 at 6:28 PM

Let me see if I understand the “wolf” logic here: It’s not un-American to oppose our mission in Iraq, but it is un-American to oppose those who oppose our mission in Iraq. Did I get that right?

ritethinker on July 22, 2007 at 7:13 PM

“premature evacuation”?

Coronagold on July 22, 2007 at 7:41 PM

Naomi Wolf. Never heard of her. Wish I hadn’t now!

CrimsonFisted on July 22, 2007 at 9:18 PM

Melanie Morgan makes very good points and right on target. Naomi Wolf consistently goes back to freedom of speech and does not make a distinction to leaking classified information – classic propaganda by the Left – and the biggest weakness this nation has.

Namoi Wolf regurgitates the propaganda and party line of the left without regard to facts or the national intersts of the United States. Don’t confuse her with the facts, she does not seem interested.

saved on July 23, 2007 at 10:20 AM

Oh, it’s so “un-American” to “smear” people who choose to publish classified information!

When Dems do it, it’s “asking hard questions.” God only knows what it would be called if Republicans were to do it.

morganfrost on July 23, 2007 at 11:31 AM

Naomi skunk Should retitle her book.

” I wish for the death of America and will facilitate it
myself when I can “

Texyank on July 23, 2007 at 11:36 AM

I’m sorry but publishing illegally obtained secret information during time of war is T-R-E-A-S-O-N! It directly supports the enemy and endangers our men on the battlefield in time of war. Not only did the NYT endanger our troops aborad but they endangered our civilians here at home. Remember the enemy deliberately targets civilians.

Publishing illegally obtained secret information is **NOT** an opinion.

And hell yeah they should get the death penalty. The punishment behind a law shows how ‘serious’ you are about the law and I think we should be deadly serious when it comes to endangering our men (and civilians at home) during time of war.

Protesting, and expressing your opinion all you want – but support the enemy and endanger our troops and civilian weather on the battlefield or at home and you should expect to be taken down hard.

CrazyFool on July 23, 2007 at 12:03 PM

CrazyFool on July 23, 2007 at 12:03 PM

I could not agree more. If our country continues to allow top secret programs and information to be released by the likes of the New York times, we might as well surrender which of course is what the communist left wants.

AprilOrit is so wrong on this issue it boggles the mind.
