It used to be so much simpler in the old days. Back then, all you had to do was sing “Yo-We-Ya, Yo-Wah”, while marching in single file behind the Wicked Witch of the West.

Anyone notice how skinny these dudes are compared to U.S. inmates? And I’m not just talking about black dudes who spent all day lifting weights in the yard, I’m talking about fat guys, etc.

Seems like we Americans have to HUNT to find skinny people like Nicole Ritchie, Calista Flockhart, Mary-Kate Olsen, but in my experience (after four trips to the Philippines), you have hunt even harder to find FAT people in the Philippines. I had an interesting experience in southern China. I spent a summer in Guanzhou. In that place EVERYBODY is thin. You can go all day long in a city of 9 million (we’re talkin’ New York size) and not see ONE fat person. Across the harbor in Hong Kong you’ll find fat people all over the place. The same genetic make up exists for both groups of people so the difference comes all from diet and lifestyle. The Western diet just ain’t that great for ya. I constantly battle my weight. I’ve lost 20 lbs with the help of WeightWatchers Online (I’ve got a lot more to go) but I’ve had to re-educate myself how to eat. It’s humbling but also revealing. I can see why we in the States gain so much weight. The deck is really stacked against us from several different directions.

I’d say that it’s pretty clear you’ve never been to the Philippines. I hate to have to be the one to break it to you, but okay, here goes — yes, we Americans REALLY ARE FATTER than people in other countries.
