I never voted for him, but here’s a thought. If he’s in DC, there’s one less aging lunatic geriatric here – and there are quite a few.

I’m tellin ya, someone needs to cut and splice these speeches together. Best campaign ads ever!

You’d think using his speeches against him would work, but that’s just not the case. Last year, Big Daddy’s challenger had a radio ad in heavy rotation featuring one of his speeches at Marshall University. Hardly a ripple in the ocean that is Byrd Country, though.

It’s one of those ‘one man’s trash is another’s treasure’ situations in many ways. His gift is our curse. He’s the only one that can walk in both worlds. He’s Ghost Rider.

Also casting pearls before swine, comes to mind.

Clear up this plague and then preach to us about the dogfighting plague, hypocrite!

I was only disappointed that he didn’t propose a bill calling for capital punishment in cases such as what we’ve been hearing about in the past few days. I’d support it whole-heartedly. The world would be a better place without this football player lowlife, (Vick?), assuming he’s guilty of the crimes that have been alleged. I’d execute him myself, given the opportunity.

Yep, gotcha on the outhouse bit, but read it all and still didn’t find any reason for the word knuckledragger, which was more than a little derogatory, but thanks ever so much for your hard work since it was so frustrating for you.

Agreed that we should relinquish the hijack so that’s all here too.

Of course, that goes along with my deepest and most heartfelt sympathies for the poor saps who don’t vote the racist clownshoe back in every time they get a chance.

That fell into the swamp, so I tried again, a little more directly this time:

And no, I’m most certainly not disputing that WV is a pretty state and that there are, undoubtedly, many wonderful people living there, I’m just making the perfectly logical observation that a majority of its voting population have the ethics and morals of Julius Streicher or the IQ of wet pocket lint.

That one burned down, then fell into the swamp. OK, so third time’s a charm; I tried again, only this time Massachusetts and Virginia had been thrown into the mix as well:

Only the ones voting for the immoral idiots which, it would appear, is a majority of the voting population of those two States. As is the case with WV.

I didn’t have much luck explaining the “outhouse metaphor” either, which for some reason meant something entirely different to you than it did to me, which was simply a way of pointing out his penchant for earmarking his name onto every conceivable structure, big and small, for his own aggrandizement. Undeterred, I tried to explain that one too:

I was referring to his penchant for using taxpayers’ funds to erect “Robert K Byrd Memorial [Insert Name of Structure Here]” monuments to himself everywhere.

If you’d like, I’ll change “outhouse” to “jacuzzi.” Wouldn’t want to step on your toes, after all, and the point still stands.

And then, after all of the above, you come back at me with this:

You can dislike Byrd all you want. I just don’t think calling the whole state “knuckledraggers” in outhouses is all that necessary.

What exactly did I not read? I read every word you wrote. I said you can dislike him all you want, which you’ve made clear you will regardless of his endless apologies. Byrd is not my dad or my pal so you can despise him all you wish and I couldn’t care less. As a conservative republican I don’t agree with him a lot either. I just didn’t like the stereotypical statements you used to put the whole state in a box, which was my only point.
