Yesterday’s dog thread, the kitty being put on fire by the two teenaged girls, this thread, the turtle being tortured, some comments…are a great reminder why I shouldn’t apologize for liking animals better than people. It’s difficult to acknowledge but sadly true. Says a lot about our underdeveloped state after all these millions, possibly billions of years.

I can’t bring myself to watch this, even though it’s just advertisement and not real. I think seeing this kind of stuff is damaging to the psyche–and desensitising to children and people like Mike Vick, who revel in watching the pain and anguish of animals as they suffer and die. Too sickening to contemplate right now… I have two rescue dogs right now, and have seen the handiwork of these beastly people.

We lost my Welsh corgi after over 15 years with us; we now have a cat after a long campaign by the youngest daughter. I have learned that cats are amazing creatures, and are indeed quite intelligent. However, I still miss my corgi. No cat can compare.

And yes I found both dog and cat ads disturbing.

There was video of the “recovered” bits and pieces of bills on the morning shows today. The owner followed the dog around for a day and collected the little “treasure piles”, washed out the bills, blow-dried them, taped them back together and took them to the bank. There was one $100 bill that they only recovered two corners of, so it’s non-negotiable.

It was ‘see’-able without the sound.
I think that this may keep drunken males (humans) from doing the same. In this way, it’s a public service announcement.

It’s no surprise that AP is a cat fancier. They are stupid and don’t require much of anything from their owners. I like cats (and I’m against sterilizing them) because they help to feed the coyotes in our area.

Honestly, I don’t think sensitivity is an issue here. Neither do I think it is fair to compare kids being shot in the street. If anyone thinks it’s ok to injure animals or people, they are sick. Period. Humans at the top of the food chain–how could it possibly make anyone feel good or look good to torment/harm something that is defenseless or powerless? Killing an animal to eat is one thing, but killing it for pleasure is, as AP said yesterday, unspeakable. You can’t be pro-life and ok with this kind of behavior. Just another stupid car worship ad but with a modern lesson in the value of a car being more important than life.

Sorry to be so serious. I wanted to be lighter, but I just can’t after reading the Vick stuff yesterday…wish I could be on his jury.

We did roughly this same thing with an electric fencer hooked up to my ’39 Chevys door handles. Didn’t work for dogs but it did wonders for those who thought they might want to see inside when the owner wasn’t around….!

I knew a guy who hooked his battery to a hubcap to discourage a dog that repeatedly peed on his wheels… a lot of yelping, but no death.
