Jail time for UK Mohammed cartoon protestors

posted at 11:30 am on July 18, 2007 by Bryan

Six years and four years. Deportation ought to follow, but it won’t. You have to read deep into the Beeb’s account to find out that they weren’t jailed for “protesting,” but for inciting murder.

Four men have been jailed for their part in protests outside the Danish embassy in London, against cartoons satirising the Prophet Muhammad.

Mizanur Rahman, 24, Umran Javed, 27, and Abdul Muhid, 24, were each jailed for six years for soliciting to murder after telling a crowd to bomb the UK.

A fourth man, Abdul Saleem, 32, was jailed for four years for stirring up racial hatred at the protest in 2006.

The men, from London and Birmingham, were convicted at the Old Bailey.

Judge Brian Barker said their words had been designed to encourage murder and terrorism.

Their very justifiable prison time is already a cause celebre.

Outside the sentencing hearing, a group of around 40 demonstrators waved placards with slogans including “Muslims Under Siege”.

Over/under on how long it takes some group of miscreants to stage an attack on the prison to free these guys?

Just to get it into the record here, here’s what earned them prison time:

Rahman, from Palmers Green, north London, was filmed at the rally talking over a loudspeaker and calling for UK soldiers to be brought back from Iraq in body bags.

He said: “We want to see their blood running in the streets of Baghdad.

“We want to see the Mujahideen shoot down their planes the way we shoot down birds. We want to see their tanks burn in the way we burn their flags.”

Javed, from Birmingham, was filmed by police shouting: “Bomb, bomb Denmark. Bomb, bomb USA.”

Father-of-five and BT engineer Saleem was cleared of soliciting murder at his trial in February, but convicted of stirring up racial hatred.

Saleem, from Poplar, east London, chanted, “7/7 on its way” and “Europe, you will pay with your blood”.

Finally, Abdul Muhid, 24, said to be the leader of the demonstration, chanted “Bomb, bomb the UK” and waved placards with slogans such as “Annihilate those who insult Islam”.

I found this story on Jihad Watch, which notes how the Beeb treats its references to Mohammed.

This report will hopefully become very common and sentencing these hateful people is just, and past due.
There seems to be no end to the ‘youths’ and ‘offenders’. ( i.e. islamofascist terrorists)

I doubt it. They’ll go after civilian targets for attack, a prison is out of their league.

zane on July 18, 2007 at 11:57 AM

Bryan,

I am somewhat surprised that these miscreants-haters-blood thirsty thugs were actually prosecuted at all.

I also won’t expect them to actually serve their full sentence in prison. Whether it is the result of protests, or Parliament writing some bill which would retroactively release them and make their actions protected under the law, or whether surrendering to outrage by leftists, Muslims, and even to Jihadi threats of violence, I expect these thugs free and reenacting their rant in short order.

I also expect them to be made out to be folk heroes, poster boys for “The Religion of Peace,” for justice, for freedom, and as a thumb in the eye for the Great Satan and her minions, the little Satans, such as Great Britain, Europe, Australia, and the West.

The center of an active volcano.

Mars on the next Mars probe, with a one way ticket to the planet’s surface, armed with their prayer rugs, their Q’ran, and their hatred.

Alpha Centuri.

The middle of a shark infested area in the Pacific.

Right smack in the middle of Antartica, armed, again, with their paryer rugs, their Q’ran, and their hatred.

Bill Maher’s mansion.

Nancy Pelosi’s headquarters.

Harry Reid’s headquarters.

Michael Moore’s home.

Just a few ideas.

Repatriate them to a Muslim paradise.

Why waste money feeding these crocodiles?

Parachute them into Darfur on the wrong side.

This “waste the infidels treasure through legal harassment” is a tactic of the slo-mo jihad.

To bankrupt us with lawsuits if they cannot do it through overbreeding on the dole.

Deport them or execute them.

Don’t feed the maniacs.

At the risk of getting thrown off of here. I’m just gonna say what I feel, The ONLY way to end this crap with the Muslim extremists. is….

Homosexual behavior is now raised to the level of sainthood in the United States of America, so Muslims who wish to engage in homosexual behavior are actually good, while the US, and heterosexuals, especially heterosexual males, especially Christians and Jews, let alone those heathen, idolaters, the Hindus, are bad and justly targeted by “The Religion of Peace.”

Don’t really think its the behavior that’s worshiped per se. It’s the minority/victim status the Dems. love. The Dem’s aren’t a minority party, but a party of minorities. No one who self-identifies as American first is welcome.

Start a group of people who eat ice-cream through their ears, and the Dem’s will welcome them with open-arms.

The UK is, at some point, going to have to revamp it’s policy toward it’s Muslim population and put aside their current politically correct stance. These insane attacks are becoming the “thing to do” with the UK’s Muslim young people, more than just a few apparently. I wonder if it could happen here. We are much larger and vastly more diverse. I didn’t mean to execute these small fish, but to use that for the successful terrorists caught during or after their crimes. (Glasgow, etc.)

Deport these smaller fry for sedition, by their calls for terrorism.

Allowing this slo-mo invasion, infiltration and erosion of our infidel nations to go on -out of a blindness to their procalimed violent goals- is suicidal silliness on our part.

forest on July 18, 2007 at 12:43 PM

the reason for the race hate charges i believe is because of comments made about Jews, in britain race hate legislation recognizes two groups as a race, whos religion is integral, these are Jews and Sikhs.

zane on July 18, 2007 at 12:46 PM

Yes, That is true. I wanted to be clear on that too. I don’t wish that all Arabs be tossed out of the country. There are some here, that don’t Pratice that Religion. and I’ve met some of them. But that one’s that do, toss ‘em out. I mean, how the heck arewe supposed to know if they’re redical or not? take their word for it? Yeah, right….

I guess this is what we get for being so open to people of other cultures. The muslims and terrorist took full advantage of that. and now, we’re paying for it.

MNDavenotPC on July 18, 2007 at 1:03 PM

It will be interesting to see if the convictions hold. Here, the Islamic Thinkers Society, which claims to be non-violent, shows up in a lot of YouTube videos (Google it!)dancing around – and in my opinion crossing – the line between speech and incitement. Unfortunately, it will probably take further domestic terrorism for American authorities to actually enforce that line.

And Chuck in Detroit, insulting the hosts is an unpopular activity around here, and I – for one – would be perfectly happy if your stay was a short one.

eeyore on July 18, 2007 at 1:03 PM

Is there any connection between CAIR and the Islamic Thinkers Society?.. I ask because I agree with eeyore that American authorities will be slow to react. If there is a connection it would only point to a universal organization

Connie on July 18, 2007 at 1:21 PM

MNDavenotPC on July 18, 2007 at 1:07 PM

There really doesn’t have to be any actual connection. The Islamic Thinkers Society wants to see a return to a worldwide Khilafah (Caliphate), but of course in a “non-violent” way. CAIR’s Ibrahim Hooper says he “would…like the government of the United States to be Islamic”. So there isn’t necessarily a “universal organization”, but certainly a universal intent among many, and with teh Interwebs, actual organizational needs are minimal, but disparate groups and individuals can share support – moral or operational – to whatever degree works for them.

eeyore on July 18, 2007 at 2:03 PM

While it is good to see the UK government prosecute and incarcerate these men, I fear that the punishment isn’t sufficient for the crime the were convicted of.

THEIR KIND advocates beheading all who offend Islam.

I say, apply the punishment they advocate to them as well.

After all, it isn’t as if England never used that form of punishment in the past.

It’d be cheaper than sending them off to 4 or 6 years of prison sanctioned sodomy.

georgej on July 18, 2007 at 2:45 PM

so are we going to video tape everything and everyone and when someone says soemthing we don’t like, we’ll lock them up for 6 years? no… they won’t be even more pissed off when they get out will they?

Kaptain Amerika on July 18, 2007 at 4:15 PM

Kaptain Amerika on July 18, 2007 at 4:15 PM

“don’t like”? No. There are lots of things people say that many “don’t like” but don’t warrant imprisonment – like “I think all home designers are the offspring of apes and pigs…” But how would you feel if there was a group in Springfield who, every time you walked down the street, screamed “There’s a designer! Kill him! All designers deserve to die!…”, and this group had a history of killing designers and working to rid the world of designers? Would that make any difference to you?

And, you know, many people who get out of prison are even more pissed off than when they went in – murderers, rapists, etc. Should we avoid imprisoning them just because it might make ‘em mad?

eeyore on July 18, 2007 at 4:46 PM
