Good news: Pope of race relations approves Imus’s return to the air
posted at 2:36 pm on July 16, 2007 by Allahpundit
I was worried when I read that Drudge scoop last week that he might come back without the benediction. But now that he’s got an injection of Absolute Moral Authority from a man found liable on seven counts of defamation?
He’s back, baby:
“My position is that we never called for him to be permanently barred from being on the air,” he says. “We’ll see when he comes back, and if he comes back, what are the boundaries and what is the understanding. We’ll be monitoring the situation, but we wanted him to pay for being a repeat abuser, and he paid. We never said we didn’t want him to make a living.”
As for the claim that Imus is seeking a black comedian to “take the sting out” of his racial humor, Sharpton says, “A sidekick is not cover. What he needs to give him cover is his own conscience and whether he’ll live up to the apology he gave those Rutgers girls.”

Well, LA-DE-DA!
One A-hole blesses the return of another to the airwaves.
I feel so much better now. My life is complete /scarcasm off

Sharpton’s over the Rutgers thing. He’s now onto the “Roboho” remark by TMZ. Which I think was absolutely hysterical (and fitting).
Sharpton’s like a four year old – no attention span.

I hope he is back soon. He hates Hillary and we will need him to help defeat her.
bopbottle on July 16, 2007 at 2:45 PM
I agree…don’t care much for either of them…although it is funny that while watching Rutgers vs. Tennessee that I commented to my wife that Rutgers players looked a little rough…if a girl wants to get tattoos all over her arms she better be able to take a little criticism…

Ima happy-headed nos!

Sharpton, he can see into the mind of men and detect any shred of racism no matter how slight.
He should work for a circus.

How is this “good news”?
Who cares?
Christoph on July 16, 2007 at 2:49 PM
A Bobbittized Imus. Now that’ll be fun to listen to.
Attila (Pillage Idiot) on July 16, 2007 at 2:49 PM

An interesting excercise to revisit the issue and see how accurate this quote is compared to what he was saying when he was gunning for Imus.
BTW, has the good reverend every had to pay for any or all his abuses and defamations? I know, I know, it’s a rhetorical question.
One of the finest examples of the “Hypocrite” species on the face of the planet, with b*lls the size of an elephants.

Free speech might not be dead yet.

It would be funny if he came back and just dropped every slur he could think of non-stop until they forcibly removed him from the air. Just blast every race color and creed…. well except mine because that would offend me.
Dash on July 16, 2007 at 3:04 PM
Like his apology to those Duke boys?
right2bright on July 16, 2007 at 3:07 PM
Well, well, well, well…. NOW we know who’s running America.
I glad that we FINALLY got that all cleared up!!!!!
Mcguyver on July 16, 2007 at 3:08 PM
Geesh, talk about the pot calling the kettle bla-…..uh, nevermind.

I will be glad to see Imus back. Maybe he will hire one of the Rutgers players to be on the show full time.

Ummm, like he NEEDS an ego boost!
On-my-soap-box on July 16, 2007 at 3:32 PM
I thought he was disbarred along with the DA after the Duke scandal? That should have disbarred him from being the conscious of Black America and promoter of racism (The Voice of black hookers/strippers that are too wasted to know whose special sauce is in their gums). The Rev of the church of the big gold wrist watch.
IMUS got pigged piled by his Liberal friends. Possibly people figured out they don’t miss his elderly rants?
Hening on July 16, 2007 at 3:37 PM
I’m still waiting for that “Black Leader” election.
I will never forgive you white people for giving this Poverty Pimp a national voice.

Robin Quivers and Star Jones Reynolds please call your agents…

The shame of it all is that I have enjoyed his replacements a lot more than I enjoyed him…… the only bright light in all of this is that maybe The Cardinal (bernard) and Omar Minaya (Rob Bartlett) will be back as well plus he does hate Hillary so it’s not a total loss.
Joey1974 on July 16, 2007 at 4:11 PM
Me too.
MSM news agencies promote this clown as the voice of black Americans–as if we need a “voice”–by putting a microphone under him. Fox News is a particular offender.
Corporations have done the same thing wrt Jesse Jackson Sr. when they caved in to his blackmail schemes.
baldilocks on July 16, 2007 at 4:13 PM
Make that the liberal media for giving the clown a voice…Sharpton agrees to make noise for his clients and in return he gets a percentage of whatever percieved damages are given to make a situation go away…he has made a fortune thanks to the liberal media giving him a voice…
DCJeff on July 16, 2007 at 4:22 PM
Wow. the Reverend Al is advising Imus to abide by his concience. I’ll bet he said that with a straight face.
Dork B. on July 16, 2007 at 4:36 PM
I can’t wait for the codification of ThoughtCrime laws. That’s where “political correctness” is leading the cattle – straight to the ThoughtCrime, First Amendment slaughterhouse. I’m 48 years old, and if I live to be 65, I will have seen the destruction of my country. I am sickened by a nation of cattle, chewing their cud while this nation rots from within.
OhEssYouCowboys on July 16, 2007 at 4:45 PM
Imus won’t be any good now that Sharpton has cut his balls off and have them in a jar ready to squeeze them on command…
sabbott on July 16, 2007 at 5:45 PM
Al should be wearing a black hood and robe, or whatever it is they do in his version of the KKK.
Ryan Gandy on July 16, 2007 at 5:55 PM
My only question is that each and every time Fat Al Sharpton gets a microphone in his face and starts ranting about things like having integrity and not seeking anything like character assassination, someone doesn’t mention the name Tawana Brawley, just to see the reaction on his face?
pilamaye on July 16, 2007 at 8:12 PM
Five bucks says Sharpton is just trying to keep his job: overreating to “offensive” statements.
Who wants to bet Sharpton is watching Imus’ show every time it’s on just waiting for another comment to overreact to?
BKennedy on July 16, 2007 at 8:27 PM
Here’s what I thought was the best possible outcome when this tempest first erupted: Imus donates +/- $50K into the womens’ athletic program at Rutgers, then flies the Rutgers team (at his expense) to his children’s ranch for cancer kids to teach basketball skills, run a clinic, put on an exhibition against, say, local law enforcement. The kids benefit from exposure to a team with some skillz; the team gets to see the other side of Imus, the one that has dedicated so much time & effort to this cause for well over ten years and whose venue for continuing to raise funds for said cause was taken away by one stupid comment for which he subsequently and properly atoned with the people who were most affected by it. Sharpton is left in the corner holding his, um, sharpie with nowhere to vent his cleverly staged indignation.
Captain Scarlet on July 16, 2007 at 9:47 PM
Whatever happened to his running suits? I found those amusing.
PowWow on July 16, 2007 at 10:57 PM
Down here in North Carolina we are still waiting for both Rev’s Al and Jesse to come on down and apologize to the Duke LaCrosse players.
Wuptdo on July 17, 2007 at 2:33 AM
My question is what will Imus do about all of his phony liberal buddies who totally abandoned him during his need of support? Will he be afraid to go after them to expose them for what they are – phonies? He wasn’t smart enough to realize that they weren’t appearing on his show because they liked him or because he was a great interviewer but to get free air time to spread their liberal crap. Jonathon Alter of Newsweek was a prime example. This guy is a liberal slug who was one of the worst for coming on and making sure he got all the dems current talking points in before Imus would shut him down.
Does anybody out there know what Bernie and Charles are doing these days? They are two great talents and its a shame they were put out in the street by the likes of Al Sharpton.
