Video: The mincing Taliban

Via TheoSpark and Weasel Zippers, here’s what happens when jihad turns dainty. Enjoy the laugh because the war is on in the tribal areas — at least 34 Pakistani troops or cops are dead in the last 24 hours from suicide bombs and the local Taliban are declaring the Waziristan “peace treaty” Musharraf signed to appease them officially dissolved. There is some good news, but as always most of it’s bad. Really bad.
Bill Kristol, who knows better than most what the administration’s thinking, predicts U.S. action in Waziristan within the next few months. Then again, he also thinks the Bush presidency is a success. Rest, Bill.

They don’t make bad guys like they used to.

The taliban says that stupid “peace treay” is over … that’s GOOD news! Now it’s time for the Paki Army to go in and kick some jihadi ass, with our guys waiting on the boarder for anyone trying to escape. Go get ‘em boys!
Tony737 on July 15, 2007 at 12:41 PM
The problem with the “war on terror” nomenclature is that terrorism may well increase when the enemy is losing. This allows defeatists to declare battles lost with every increase in violence.
Big S on July 15, 2007 at 12:41 PM
I saw this at Ace. If this guy managed to kill anyone it would be because they were already dead.
And I wondered. Are Converse high tops the reason for his jaunty step, or do they have a grenade shoved into an uncomfortable place to motivate him?
Kowboy on July 15, 2007 at 12:44 PM
Be afraid John McClane…be very afraid.

If this is day one of two weeks I would like to see the ‘after’ video. If this is the end product, they will probably send him a vest with little poochie pockets all over it and tell to ‘push this switch and flowers will pop out’
spike on July 15, 2007 at 12:44 PM
That came from the Taliban with that music, right?
trubble on July 15, 2007 at 12:57 PM
God the Middle East is messed up.
We have to support Musharraf, a military dictator, to avoid jihadi nutbags from taking over nuclear Pakistan.
How does Bush sleep at night, I wonder? And how can Democrats oversimplify everthing—we just have to leave and everything will sort itself out.

Jeez, sometimes I just shake my head in wonderment at some of you guys. How many military people here commenting in this thread think that guy looked dainty? How many of you guys have ever tried running over ground covered with rocks like that? How many of you have ever tried to fired a AK47 on hard rocky ground covered with D/G or really course sand? Laughing this guy off is a mistake, he is running over rough broken ground with lot’s and lot’s of ankle breaking rocks and neither falling down or loosing his balance. This guy is way more dangerous than most of you are giving him credit for.
doriangrey on July 15, 2007 at 1:23 PM
Only because he has an ak47.
About half way in, then at the end; he fires his handgun to clear the hallways. It takes him several seconds to fire off the shots in one direction; turn around and fire in the other direction. He doesn’t even look into the rooms he’s “assaulting” – I’m no military guy, but that looks like bad form. He’d be killed way before he does anything effective.
lorien1973 on July 15, 2007 at 1:31 PM
I wasn wondering when someone would notice that. Whoever put that music with the tape either
a) didn’t look at the tape with any perception
s) is a silly ass ( probably English )
c) both of the above
Janos Hunyadi on July 15, 2007 at 1:33 PM
It should have been the other way around…Pakistan Pres. Musharraf dissolving the peace treaty…so why is the Taliban picking this fight??? I guess we are going to find out soon enough..
Legions on July 15, 2007 at 1:33 PM
Yes, he’s dangerous. But if I was assaulting a heavily armed position I would probably be taking fire and wouldn’t be prancing across the open space like that. And as lorien said, his tactics once he gets to the position would get him killed in a huury.
Kowboy on July 15, 2007 at 1:39 PM
huury
Kowboy on July 15, 2007 at 1:39 PM
He’s not young and not in great shape and he’s green, but MFers like him kill lotsa people–civilians and themselves, mostly, but some of us, too
Janos Hunyadi on July 15, 2007 at 1:44 PM
lorien1973 on July 15, 2007 at 1:31 PM
You have obviously never tried doing what he is doing. It’s way harder than it looks, he isn’t dangerous just because he has a AK47. He’s dangerous because he can get around in that particular terrain, very rocky, very slippery while firing a AK47 while throwing hand grenades without killing himself or his cameraman.
If you really think he is only dangerous because of the AK47, I suggest you go get yourself a 30-30 hunting rifle find yourself some terrain that is very similar to what he is running around on then have someone video you while you try to repeat what that guy is doing.
Oh and I suggest you only use blanks in your rifle, so you don’t accidentally kill your cameraman or yourself when you fall on your ass while trying to run over the broken slippery ground with a loaded gun.
doriangrey on July 15, 2007 at 1:49 PM
I
Because they always intended to. Pakistan has always been a target for the jihadists.
Three pieces of required reading if you really want to understand what the west is up against. In the Shade of the Koran and Milestones by Sayyid Qutb and Join the Caravan by Dr. Abdullah Azzam, the spirtual founder of al Qaeda. Interestingly enough, Azzam finishes Joinn the Caravan with this quote
Have I not conveyed the message? O’ Allah, bear witness then!
Have I not conveyed the message? O’ Allah, bear witness then!
Have I not conveyed the message? O’ Allah, bear witness then!
Sound familiar?
And yes, I agre with Kristol. Years from now, when people look back on this time and the beginning of the long war, Bush will be seen as someone who understood the enemy we are fighting.
JackStraw on July 15, 2007 at 1:56 PM
What makes ‘mountain jihadi’ look Wrong is that he isn’t leaning forward for balance and to reduce his target profile. In the Taliban training films that have been revealed to Western media, all these guys are erect like this–seems to be their style.
Maybe it’s in the Koran……….
Janos Hunyadi on July 15, 2007 at 1:56 PM
neither ‘leaning forward’ nor ‘erect’ were the best choice of words……..

I don’t care how he moves or how dangerous he ultimately is – I think all Jihadis are faggots.

Whata putz…oops.
This guy and Hugh Grant are related.
Speakup on July 15, 2007 at 2:51 PM
Yes, he’s dangerous, but to whom? So he can walk around rocks and stones and not break his ankle. Most tourists in Greece can do that as well with no terrorist training. Is he practicing for his attack on an airport terminal, the airport terminal with lots of rocks on the floor? Was he even shooting while running? No. He dances, he prances. He stops. He shoots. Then he dances and prances. He stops. He shoots. He’s a clown pretending to be a commando. He looks like Geraldo Rivera leading some Mexicans across the border. In a very Geraldo Rivera Here-I-Am-In-Iraq kind of way.
jihadwatcher on July 15, 2007 at 2:51 PM
The peace treaty was a chance to get the forces up to snuff…Red was an excuse to call of the Truce once prep was completed. Over and over it happens. I think Mustafar might have their number when it comes down to it. He is a survivor and the Pakis don’t want them.
tomas on July 15, 2007 at 3:05 PM
That video is old as hell. Watch Liveleak more often for all the jihadi videos and people there will tell you whether the stuff is new or not
Win Win Win on July 15, 2007 at 3:09 PM
Have to agree with doriangrey and Janos- a dangerous, if light-footed s.o.b.

Because they always intended to. Pakistan has always been a target for the jihadists.
JackStraw on July 15, 2007 at 1:56 PM
I agree…So why give up a safe haven..to launch their attacks from..
Legions on July 15, 2007 at 3:24 PM
doriangrey, I actually had the same reaction about the rocky ground as you. But, he wasn’t highstepping over it, he was bouncing and prancing. Also, he was prancing completely straight up, instead of crouched down. The combination of the two makes one a very large target.
bikermailman on July 15, 2007 at 3:26 PM
I don’t care if he is dangerous, I just want him dead….D…E…A…D…
Tim Burton on July 15, 2007 at 3:33 PM
Same reason that there are 4,000 insurgents in Iraq from Saudi Arabia. Same reason Hamas is not in charge of the Palestinians. Same reason Syria “tolerates” terrorists. Jihadists make up a significant percentage of the society in many Islamic countries.
Watch what happens in Pakistan now that they are trying to eradicate them. If your not concerned about Pakistan, you should be.
JackStraw on July 15, 2007 at 3:41 PM
If this is how the prancing Taliban fighters operate no wonder we have been racking up the body count on these people this summer. I’m sure they are very dangerous if an unarmed civilian, but the moment the idiot broke cover any GI qualified to shoot could have dropped him.
Because they know the lay of the land in the tribal areas I am sure they could be a very tough defensive force. These are the same folks that handed the British Army their butts in the 19th Century. All said I would love to see a couple of B-52s visit some misery on these medieval on the tribal areas of Pakistan. We just might get lucky and completely finish off the leadership of Al Qaeda. A guy can dream.

Think what you like about him but remember this, him and his buddies, who fight just like him are holding off the most powerful military the world has ever seen . They aren’t beating us, but they aren’t exactly loosing either.
They don’t have Abrams tanks, they don’t have F22 Raptor’s or B52’s they don’t have heavy artillery they don’t have GPS satellite communications or fancy computers, they don’t have Kevlar body armor and they are doing a pretty damn good job of holding their own. So like it or not yea, this guy and his buddies are pretty damn dangerous.
There is no greater danger to a military operation than to underestimate your enemy. Germany and Japan were our military superiors, but they underestimated our will and our abilities and we cleaned their clock for it. The Vietcong were our military inferiors, we won all the battles and lost the war because we underestimated their will and their propaganda abilities.
If we fall into the trap of underestimating these people it will be our undoing. They are fierce and determined warriors, they may be out classed by our military and they are fighting for a sick and corrupt ideology, but to fail to recognize that they are good at what they do would be a fatal mistake, one which I, even though not in our military, refuse to do.
doriangrey on July 15, 2007 at 4:51 PM
All that Taliban needs is a target painted on his turban.
With fancy footwork like that he should try out for Dancing with the Martyrs(looks like he’s wearing topsiders).
I bet any Marine Sniper would admire his ninja-like reflexes and cat-like balance, as the 50cal. round is inbound.
He may move with unbelievable dexterity on rocky ground but let’s see him try to do that on flat, dry sand.
christophercube on July 15, 2007 at 5:16 PM
Yeah, some “peace treaty” deal, when are the powers that be going to learn you cannot negotiate with these murderers! They only negotiate when they are getting their A$$ES handed to them to take the heat off, re-group, re-arm, and plan a new strategy! They never live up to their end of any agreements because they never intend to, it’s always a ploy to buy time, so stop plauing into their game and just keep hammering them!
As for the above statement from Tony737, here’s a post I placed on the thread about the messages coming from Zawahiri that fit into this thread as well:
While it may be wishful thinking that the above will come to fruition, I really hope it will come to be, we need some more victories!
Liberty or Death on July 15, 2007 at 5:16 PM
Agreed. The flipside, however, is that we must ridicule our enemies in order to win. Speaking as a former infantry soldier, neither this guy nor his trainers have a clue. He’s cannon fodder.
Mojave Mark on July 15, 2007 at 5:18 PM
With the leftists gleefully assisting the terrorists propaganda war, yeah they are a dangerous and encouraged enemy.
christophercube on July 15, 2007 at 5:24 PM
Mojave Mark on July 15, 2007 at 5:18 PM
Oh they are cannon fodder alright, because our guys really are the baddest mother fu$kers in the valley of the shadow of death*.
*(One of my old friends who was in the Marine Corp’s used to tell me their version of Psalm 23, “Yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I shall fear no evil because I am th baddest mother fu$kers in the valley of the shadow of death.”)
I always got a kick out of that one…So yea they are cannon fodder, but then again anyone who tangles with the US Military is in for a serious world of hurt.
doriangrey on July 15, 2007 at 5:31 PM
He’s jihadi and that’s okay,
He works all night and he sleeps all day.
That dude is very light in his sneakers. I’m not saying he’s gay or anything, because if he were gay, they would have killed him ages ago. He should come to America–he’d be the darling of Code Pink.
smellthecoffee on July 15, 2007 at 5:32 PM
I still like his shoes. That is what gave him the dexterity and would also lead to a sprained ankle. The guy has picked up some bad habits which will come back to haunt him such as firing to the right first, always and only squeezing off 2 shots each time. You should practice the way you will play and developing these habits don’t lend themselves to a long life expetenancy when you are on a two way rifle range.
LakeRuins on July 15, 2007 at 5:50 PM
That video is just as dangerous as he is. I can cause the American people to think that they are just a bunch of bafoons and could not possibly attack us again. All the while the clock is ticking.

I must be the worst writer in the world..I am very concerned about this..I agreed with you.. the fact that they want to tear Pakistan apart is no surpise to me or you. What I can’t understand is why give up their safe haven in the mountains, by dissolving the peace agreement. They could have committed acts of terror all day-year long inside Pakistan and no one would have touched them..Unless they are ready to totally destroy the country, in which case a peace treaty would not protect them anyway…
Legions on July 15, 2007 at 6:06 PM
The more insidious problem with this video is… that a more-competent potential-militant Muslims watching it will think:
“Hey, if this doofus can do it, I sure as hell can.”
profitsbeard on July 15, 2007 at 6:18 PM
Just because some of us think he looks gay doesn’t mean we don’t think he is dangerous. Did you notice how he threw that grenade? That was hilarious!
The reason they are holding us off is because some idiot politicians are not letting us go in there and fight like a war should be fought.
And I like President Bush! Except for the immigration thing, he has done some good things.
pugsly on July 15, 2007 at 6:28 PM
Watch the Democrats. I can see the them voting to limit US military involvement to Afghanistan.

Mahmood, the Gayest Jihadi.
Frozen Tex on July 15, 2007 at 6:37 PM
Take that guy, and with the help of those who wish to disarm us and He’d be more dangerous than you think. Remember, all it takes is one person like that, and then you have a bunch of dead defenseless infidels. Or keep our guns, and you’ll have one dead Jihadist before he got half way thru saying “Allah Akbar”.
KCtheKat on July 15, 2007 at 7:00 PM
Yep, the left-tards make me sick! When this is all over and we are victorious (and we will be) I hope history will show them for what they are, traitorous America haters and perhaps their leftist ways will be abandoned and ridiculed forever!
Also, we need to throw PC in the trash if we are going to get serious about winning. We can start by beginning our own propaganda war! We need to start putting out public service announcements on TV, film clips before movies start (like they did during WWII) and in all forms of media openly ridiculing Islamic fascism without holding back or pulling any punches! This includes more cartoons depicting Allah and the jihadists for the sick, warped, and murdering scum they are!
Liberty or Death on July 15, 2007 at 7:09 PM
Liberty or Death on July 15, 2007 at 7:09 PM
I believe history will not remember us for when we left Iraq, but for how Iraq was left.
KCtheKat on July 15, 2007 at 7:20 PM
IMHO it doesn’t matter if this jihadist and others like him are light in the loafers or have no real combat skills at all, anyone with a radical religious fascist ideology that believes in martyrdom and has a weapon is dangerous and should be as Tim Burton said, “I just want him dead…D-E-A-D!!!”
Liberty or Death on July 15, 2007 at 7:33 PM
Agreed, we need to leave Iraq stable and not allow it to become a terrorist haven. I was merely speaking of the overall GWOT and how the left-tards are placing their own agendas and selfish needs above protecting America and defeating our enemy by their consistently undermining our efforts (thus assisting our enemy) and my hope that the lefts actions during this war will one day be judged harshly by history and their leftist ways will be abandoned and ridiculed forever!
Liberty or Death on July 15, 2007 at 7:50 PM
I like the break between the “lobbing” of that big ol’ heavy grenade and the shot of the wispy smoke rising from behind the wall. The pin was in that sucker when he tried to toss it, and good thing too for him, as I bet it went all of 12 feet. They planted a lil’ smoke bomb behind the wall and cut it in with that laughable pan shot.
This old fella is not the one our guys would meet on the field. He’s prolly the tribal leader or some such so he got the honored position of the lead role in the film. Like how he’s carefully tucking the empty mag in his vest? What’s with the full 360 firing right, left, then back right again? And I’m betting the mincing steps have more to do with his age, footwear, running in a skirt and trying not to trip on his pajama trousers than they do with rocky terrain.
TexasDan on July 15, 2007 at 7:55 PM
Legions-
The jidahis have been violating the terms of their treaty since the day it was signed. Under the terms of their bizzare belief system, they were obliged to violate the treaty. Yep, obliged.
The more interesting question is what made Musharraf start to fight back. I think the answer lies here.
I know its not popular to state that the Bush administration isn’t completely out of touch, but they aren’t. Speaking of which, anybody heard what happened in North Korea over the weekend? Paging John Bolton.
JackStraw on July 15, 2007 at 7:58 PM
That is a profound realization. I think we should all pause a moment and ponder it.
I did.

@Christoph – Profound indeed.
This guy in the Converse – wtf? I was almost expecting to see this guy while watching the video.
Suihei Deloi on July 16, 2007 at 2:23 AM
Ya well I wonder if they shut it down for other reasons. I heard they had enough material now to produce 12 bombs. Maybe they have finally made enough to satisfy a customer and shutting it down is not the result of political pressure.
boomer on July 16, 2007 at 8:38 AM
Granted, this is only the first step, albeit a huge one. The key was getting N. Korea to agree to the 6 party talks which Bush insisted on and all the donkeys and some Republicans said would never work.
In order to get more aid more open trade, which N. Korea desperately needs thanks to sanctions and the lose of China and Russia as sponsors, N. Korea has to turn over all nuclear material not just shut down the reactors.
JackStraw on July 16, 2007 at 9:23 AM
Looking at the video just today and reading the posts made me smile, somehwat with a bit of pain. When I was in Vietnam, MY thought on my first sight of these little dirty people who carried bamboo stalks on their backs was that they couldn’t be the enemy. Until I saw while in the bush that’s how they carried their rocket launchers….two bamboo stalks crossed together as a stand and the rocket fired from their shoulders. Go ahead and laugh at our prissy friend…. you catch one of his sissy fired rounds you’re just as dead.
