It’s all in the writing. He just says what he’s told, stands where he’s told, emotes as he’s told…

Ford is a committed lefty. Ever see these retards when they try to speak without a script? I doubt he even graduated from high school.

jaime on July 13, 2007 at 2:52 PM

From the Wiki.Usual grain of salt caveat applies.

He attended Ripon College in Wisconsin, where he was a member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity. He took a drama class in his junior year, chiefly as a way to meet women. Ford, a self-described "late bloomer", became fascinated with acting. Toward the end of his college freshman year, he was a member of a folk band called The Brothers Gross, in which he played gutbucket. He, however, did not graduate from Ripon.

I may not agree with the man's politics, but speaking as a person on the fringes of the music industry, I gotta give him props just on the gutbucket.

His acting? I usually enjoy that also. When he's in a good movie. And there is no denying he has created two of the most iconic characters in film history. And ya gotta admit. Harrison Ford was an order of magnitude better Jack Ryan than he of yelling father fame.

The principle applies across the "art & entertainment" industry.

Streisand's brain may not have always functioned at a normal level, but at one time her vocal cords were functioning at near perfection.

Harry Bellevuefonte has gone ape5#/t crazy, but he's had generations of people singingDay-Oh..Daaay-oh.

Which is, if nothing else, a fun song to teach kids.
Or sing when you're drunk.

even she
of free verse
dogged truther
c mothers & fathers
no terror
just peace...
...was somewhat amusing.
Sure, it was twenty years ago, but still.

John Mellencamp long ago succumbed to a most virulent strain of BDS. But I still like Club Cherry Bomb
for what it is.

George Carlin. Borderline seditionist. Funny as hell.

IOW; I can appreciate the craftmanship of the artist, all the while loathing (yes, i feel that strongly ) their politics.

I can also respect, and would defend, those people who chose to make their own political statement by essentially boycotting certain artists.

I just think they're missing out on some very good work(s).

No, my pulse raced a bit when I heard the music used on this trailer. Not since the Bono and The Edge remix of the M:I theme was I so glad to hear something contemporized for a film update.

They've truly gotten the best man for the job for this one. This very slight trailer features only three gags, but I still chuckle each time. Forget the Dept of Homeland Security. Get me CONTROL headquarters!

Cat-
You are not joking! Has anyone else noticed this....
Harrison Ford, Steve Martin, Sting....
Are they the same guy cloned in their youth?
All pursued different avenues in the entertainment industry?
I thought I was the only one who noticed!
Thanks for mentioning this.
Any one else notice this or can add to the list?

Hehehe...thanks for the memories MirCat, I loved the Muppets, especially Animal! I remember seeing that show with Rita Moreno and Animal when it originally aired.

I also liked Beaker and the hapless Scientist..."oh nooo....nooo...nnnnoooooo....kaboooom!" Kind of reminds me of some of the hapless jihadists lately, only the jihadist aren't funny.....

As for a new Indi movie, I'd be up for it as long as there are more scenes of him shooting dead sword wielding turbin wearing middle easterners..I can never get enough of that!

Tell me if its not hard as a fan of these films, having grown up learning how to be the gruff dusty hero watching Ford make that 'gonna have to shoot ya' face as Indy, and then learning the real guy wears an ear ring and dates Flockhart?
I pray I will be able to suspend the disbelief and just remember I'm seeing Indy, not Ford.
If only we had men like Indy's character (not just the ones who currently exist and are wearing U.S. uniforms in a country called IRAQ at the moment, and are pretty gruff and dusty I might add) returning to their roles as men, refusing to "tolerate," and take back this country from the feminized, politically correct 'metrosexuals.' It would do the world and this country good. Welcome back Indy. We need you.

"Ford is a committed lefty."

He was also a carpenter, and is one of the few Hollywood actors to have had an actual, real job outside of college and acting. Nowadays film stars get plucked from model agencies without ever experiencing real life. It was probably the case back in the day, but there were at least a few actors - Lee Marvin, Charles Bronson etc, - who actually did something in their twenties besides attend premieres. Ford isn't as tough as those manly men but he does have a proper skill. If you were trapped on a desert island with him, he could build a hut.

There was a computer game a few years ago, Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine, set in the 1950s. The baddies were the Russians, and it was odd hearing Indy moan about the damn Commies. I suppose he's a friend of freedom rather than one particular ideology, although the character is or was an academic university type. It'll be hard finding a sufficiently outlandish, cartoonish baddy in post-WW2 times.

I'm hearing rumors that Indy 4's plot revolves around one of two possibilities:

#1-Indy digs for Native American artifacts and stumbles upon an e-e-e-evil Eisenhower Administration-plan that ties into Roswell, Area 51, and every other idiotic government conspiracy since the 1940s.
#2-The non-partisan Council on Foreign Relations ask Indy to find King David's temple robe because they cannot make the Ark of the Covenant work correctly without it. Of course, the CFR agents are acutally members of the military-industrial complex who really want the Ark as the American answer to the Soviet doomsday nuke.

The IESB site "Karl" linked to lends some credence to these rumors, but you're all kidding yourselves if you think that there won't be some form of Republican-hating in Indy 4...a movie that takes place during the e-e-e-e-e-evil McCarthyite reign of terror.

I'd rather go on watching the fab old ones if they can't do it right. I mean, look what happened to Star Wars! If only Sean would have agreed for another....ah, now we are talking memory film heaven. >smile

They’ve been on the Big Island filming this week.

Man, I was there a couple of months ago. Took a flight around the island. The pilot told us Ford has an expensive house on the West coast, but I guess they want the lusher locations on the East coast.

Next Indiana Jones movie will have Indy using a cane.

Was I the only one who noticed that the two soldiers holding his arms in the scene were American Army? Does this mean the "New Evil Empire" has taken "its rightful place" as "heir" to Nazi Germany. We all know that Ford, Lucas and Speilberg would never make the Soviets the bad guys.

I don't know. Seeing Indy on the backseat of a motorcycle kind of broke my heart. But of course I'll see this in IMAX.

Ford is a committed lefty. Ever see these retards when they try to speak without a script? I doubt he even graduated from high school.

Indiana Jones and Harrison Ford are two different people. Ya gotta keep em separated. I wouldn't be able to enjoy watching any movies at all otherwise.

So long as they don't get all caught up in some leftist 'message' and portray the good guys as good, the evil guys as evil...

...then there's no worries about the politics of the actors in it.

At one point he ever dressed like Han Solo

They've been on the Big Island filming this week.

I like the Indy movies. They remind me of the old serial films they used to play in the movie theaters when I was a kid. Good story line and just plain fun. The way movies should be.

So what's your point? If it's that any movie with a registered Dem in it sucks, than you're gonna be limited to about half of a real small shelf at Blockbuster.

Ford may be a leftard, but he keeps his mouth shut and is generally a decent and professional guy. Plus, he *is* Indy.
