Audio: Let Al Qaeda have what’s rightfully theirs, says Nick Berg’s father
posted at 8:22 am on July 12, 2007 by Allahpundit
I.e., the Middle East. Suddenly the “let’s negotiate with Osama” meme is in full flower, although in fairness that flower bloomed for Berg long ago, years before Zarqawi cut off his son’s head. He hung up on Gibby the last time they spoke; this time he crawls on to the bitter end, explaining why everything you know about Pearl Harbor is wrong and why it’s really up to Osama to define the boundaries of the Middle East that rightfully belongs to him, Hezbollah, and Hamas. FYI, they might not be the boundaries as recognized on most maps.
Ironically, his core point — that AQ speaks for many people in the Middle East — has some truth to it. Gibby might have challenged him with another WWII analog there, but after the Pearl Harbor discussion it was probably best just to stay out of the past. Click to listen.
Update: INDC Bill interviewed Berg back in 2004.

How culturally insensitive. Tar the culture of many because of the actions of a radicalizes bunch?
How…illiberal.

I don’t get it. Berg is a Jew. Berg’s son was killed by muslims. Berg sides with them.
What am I missing here?
jihadwatcher on July 12, 2007 at 8:44 AM
In principle, I agree with Berg. AQ should be given what is rightfully theirs, which is a significant portion of a very warm place. This place, however, is not the Middle East.

Doesn’t Berg remind you of Larry David? From what I understand, Larry David also shares his politics.
Maybe it’s a genetic thing.

“Peace, Love, Dove my brothers and sisters…”
I’ve been hearing this pathetic peacenik tripe for over 35 years now from the “enlighted” left. However, the bad guys are still killer us by the hundreds all of these years now.
I keep thinking to myself…would the boys on D-Day have ever gotten off their landing craft if they knew that a mere one generation later people would allow the left to totally debase everything they would fight and die for?

Good point. Ironically it was the children of the Greatest Generation that turned out this way. Their fathers got off those landing craft into a hail of bullets to save the world, only to have their children give it right back to the butchers.

That is an example of treason of the purest kind.
TheSitRep on July 12, 2007 at 8:59 AM
Aww, that’s so sweet. Let Osama, Hezb’allah, and Hamas decide the borders of the Middle East. I guess their decisions would include “No” and “Jews” as well as “No” and “Christians.”
I love hippies – they are naive and childish and think all problems can be solved with “discussion,” no matter how psychotic the person with whom one has a problem with. I agree discussion can solve many problems, but so can a SAM.

Sorry AP, I don’t need to listen to another moonbat like Rosie O Sheehan.
Here is what I think he is saying…. lets pull out of the ME. Let OBL build up like he did before and then when he hits the US again, we (Berg and Rosie et al) will be as indignant and ready to kill some Jihadists just like we were on September 12, 2001.
csdeven on July 12, 2007 at 9:03 AM
Excellent… Then by his logic, Christians are the proper representatives of the United States and he should shut up and take his cue from them… I’m sure he understands this…
Skywise on July 12, 2007 at 9:03 AM
So where would it end? Obviously his logic brings you to giving North America back to the Indians. What then? Let the U.N. negotiate between the Souix, Cheyenne, and Navahos as to who’s territory is who’s? Will the Saxons be kicked out of Britian? If we all just hug we can have the world back the way it was…….at total war with each other 24/7/365. Great plan. Peace out! Out of their minds.
Limerick on July 12, 2007 at 9:07 AM
Ok, Nancy Pelosi has set the trend, I think Berg and the rest of them who want to negotiate with the terrorist butchers should do it already! Quit yakking about it and just go talk to them, set the example! And don’t forget to get it on tape so the rest of us can see yet another freaking beheading.

Nooo, it’s very liberal. Doublethink has been a liberal practice for a long time now. Ever since 1984 came out I think. For a liberal there is no contradiction whatsoever between the statements that AQ represent a lot of people in the middle east and that one cannot tar everyone with the same brush, just because of the extremist actions of a few.
This is standard liberal-islamist doublethink and can be prounounced without hesitation or fear of intelligent reprisal at any cafe serving double-lattes.
Aylios on July 12, 2007 at 9:19 AM
I can only react with absolute sorrow for those who are cursed with parents like Michael Berg … or Cindy Sheehan.
It would seem that we could all agree on one basic point, regardless of ideology: if you are unfortunate enough to die a horrible death at the hands of terrorists or insurgents, your death should not be used for politics – BY YOUR FRICKING PARENTS.
Nick deserved better. So did Casey Sheehan.
It’s really hard to fathom these “parents” who are making Ann Coulter look awfully prophetic with her remark about “enjoying the deaths” of loved ones.
If you want to be a peacenik moonbat nutball, fine; if your child’s death is part of your motivation for that misguided political choice, also fine.
But once you make that choice – can you perhaps leave your kid’s name out of it … and let him rest in peace? Please?
It may sound like a line from a bad Japanese war movie … but Michael Berg and Cindy Sheehan have, above all else, dishonored themselves and dishonored the memories of their children.
A lack of honor seems more and more to be the defining characteristic of much of the American Left. But to dishonor the memory of your dead child? That takes a special kind of cold, calculating callousness.
Honor. Google it, liberals. It’s possible to dissent with honor. Consider trying it sometime.

- Steeped in wishful thinking.

Or at least pictures of same. *gag*
infidel4life on July 12, 2007 at 9:34 AM
This man is not a liberal. He is not naive. He is not ignorant.
He is a lefty. The left roots for the enemies of our society by default. The fact that he could do so, after those enemies murdered his son, only speaks to the fact of how powerful leftest motivations run. They are primal.
I believe there could be a genetic disposition towards this thinking. A lefty is so loyal to his anarchist cause, intrinsically embedded in his soul, hardwired in the brain from childhood, that even the love of a son, much less the love of a country, if it even exists, can not change that wiring.
Is there a genetic factor? Well, we discover that many facets of our behavior, not just our physical makeup, are controlled by genes. Notice how you can tell if someone is a lefty just by looking at their face? Look at the face. If the eyes are the windows to the soul, then the face is the front of the house.

Silly, silly man.
I guess we should have agreed to Hitler’s demands, too?
But then we would have had to deport all Jews to Germany for extermination, and Mr. Berg would now be a smudge on a chimney wall.
Instead of a blot on his son’s tragic memory.

Hard to believe 30% of Americans think the same way he does. I really wish our Founding Fathers were alive today to see what our country has become.
FireFly on July 12, 2007 at 10:37 AM
I’ve also thought about this and I believe there are a number of different issues; Too many babies and not enough fathers left to properly raise them, rapid technological advancement, massive societal changes due to the influence of foreign cultures that the GI’s were exposed to, the rapid influx of immigrants from devastated areas of the world and changes in the workforce due to women and minorities getting opportunities they didn’t have before.
I guess when you put that all in a pot and boil it away, it all comes down to the fact that the Greatest Generation were victims of their own success. Just like successful businessmen suddenly going off the rails and getting into trouble, American society just simply changed and grew too fast to handle, and the social cancer of sixties liberalism was the result. Until that cancer is cut out of our society, America will continue to suffer.
Fortunately for us, the hippies ARE aging, and they will eventually die out. We will still be dealing with the after-effects of their presence for years, possibly generations, but it is my belief that if we as a Society can keep the faith and continue to stamp out Liberalism wherever we see it, that eventually 60′s Liberalism will become a quaint relic of bygone days, honestly seen as the foolishness it truly is by the vast majority of Americans.
So raise your children right and don’t let them become liberals. Take your kid to the rifle range. Fill your house with conservative books. Home-School if you can, send them to a private or Catholic school if you can’t homeschool. If you must send them to a public “screwl” make sure to take an active and large role in their education, supplementing with good conservative reading and thought as much as possible.
The generation of the 60′s may have put America in danger, but it will be the Generation of the 80′s that saves it.
God Bless America.

I’m now a 57 year old former US combat Marine. I married late in life (47) and now have 2 sons 7 and 10.
Not a day goes by that I don’t read to them or watch a DVD with them about the sacrifices given by our US Servicemen and women from our noble American history.
They will be our future, they will carry on when I am gone.
Until that day they will continue to learn from me how to honor those that have come before them, and how to help keep the nation free against all “enemies foreign and

Actually, there is no connection between reality and liberal fantasy. Children sometimes play “let’s pretend”; liberals live their lives that way. This conflict does not hinge on “disenfranchised” people, it hinges on the conflict which has its roots between Isaac and Ishmael. It cannot be fully understood until and unless it is viewed in a Biblical perspective. Whatever your philosophic or religious point of view, the only way to comprehend what is now happening is against a Biblical backdrop.
Liberals work full time dismissing and ridiculing the one source document that defines the problem, then try to apply their own solutions; i.e. “peace” and “love”, however they define them.
This is the result of everyone defining their own “truth”.

Sad, silly, and one more – angry - angry at the whole world, his life, his politics, and probably the food he eats.
Like St. Cindy Sheehan, he lives off the death of his son.
It’s all he has left.
He, like Sheehan, is emotionally bankrupt and void of any outrage against his son killers. Instead to pursue a purgatory of hate against the country that would protect his life and liberties to the extent of the ultimate sacrifice.
I have no pity for them, I have no contempt, I have nothing.

I absolutely agree with Pappa Berg that Osama Bin Laden and Al Qaeda should get everything, absolutely everything they rightfully deserve. I’m thinking something along the lines of a MOAB. All we need is an address to make it all right.

stephc: what happened was that the world was sick of wars..first WWI then WWII then the Korean War….we won the first and second, lost the third because by then the rest of the world not affected lost interest and began to dig the hole in the sand their heads would be in for the next fifty years. America tried but that was the beginning of the end of us. Add to all of that the “entitlement” generation had and was being born (Franklin Roosevelt…remember?). Although the 60′s was a part of my generation, I missed being a boomer by about five years. I didn’t get into any “hippie” s..t but my first hubby did…he took the 60′s with their free sex and drugs and the hell with the establishment to heart and today whines because he can’t continue the lifestyle!! Too old and not enough money. Berg being a Jew, comes to the hippie generation honestly. The Jews, having been the victims for two thousand years all over the planet wanted some relief, the 60′s offered them that. But, if you pay close attention, they didn’t give up making money, they just turned tinfoil hatted leftist loon. The world is tired, damn it all, I’m tired. But, we cannot leave the fight for our grandchildren because the politicians will just get on their knees or turn tail and run. Then what will happen to our grandchildren? If we don’t fight for our freedom then we might just as well abort every child today and every child conceived for the next 100 years and end it quicker. That’a my take!!

Kimmer on July 12, 2007 at 2:06 PM
If Osama is the true and rightful representative of the Middle East, then I guess there’s really no reason left not to just nuke the entire region; isn’t that the logical conclusion?
Not that I’m advocating that sort of thing; just didn’t realise Berg was such a warmonger in implying the entire Middle East is our enemy.

jw, this is a painfully accurate point. The children of “the greatest generation” are “the worst generation”. It’s a conundrum.

The wrong Berg was beheaded, methinks.
georgej on July 12, 2007 at 4:38 PM
Not so sure about that. The children of the boomers, as has been reported on this blog, can be even more radical than their parents. Remember the articles of aging hippies complaining of the “disrespectful” punks inhabiting their neighborhoods? Even to the ’60s hippies, today’s disaffected youth are far worse.
Most hippies were liberals, but not necessarily leftists. Indeed, while the ’60s hippies were smoking pot and saying “peace, dude” some of the following generation are much more angry and violent. Rather than “peace, dude” it’s devolved into “Kill Bush! There are No terrorists! Death to Israel!” While the hippies were naive, some of their children are nihilistic, morose, fatalistic – even anarchistic. I think that for every hippy then, there are two leftists to replace him now. And a leftist is much worse than a hippy. A hippy is just an idiot for want of knowing better. A leftist knows better and is on a mission.
Fortunately, today’s white urban birth rate is quite low. The higher birth rates are found in the rural areas and in the red states. Punks in San Francisco are not having too many kids. So maybe they will self-terminate as a cultural entity. Witness the anarchists of the Human Self-Extinction Movement. http://www.vhemt.org
