Husain appears to be engaging in taqiyya by condemning/excusing educated jihadists because they’re not following true Islam. It’s the other way around: it’s the so-called “moderates” who are ignoring the violent call of Islam.

As the Syrian poet Adonis said recently, “There can be no living culture in the world if you cannot criticize its foundations – the religion. We (Muslims) lack the courage to ask any question about any religious issue.”

They lack the courage because their heads are forfeit if they dare to question the forever unalterable word of Allah as revealed through Mohammed.

To the Islamist engineer, centuries of context, nuance, history, grammar, lexicon, scholarship, and tradition are all lost and redundant. The do-it-yourself (DIY) attitude to religious texts, fostered by doctors and engineers of secular colleges, produces desperate, angry suicide bombers devoid of spiritual guidance..

Robert Spencer’s “Islam Unveiled” can be seen as a full length debunking of this stance as well. The ulama and the core of the religion itself is the problem.

Yeah? Then why haven’t I killed you yet? Go to a muslim country (dressed like THAT) and tell them how peaceful they are. Nice knowin’ ya.

Interesting post. If ex-jihadis can’t agree on why radical muslims are so dangerous, how are we supposed to figure it out?

I’d suggest just reading the Koran (Chapters 2 and 9) and a little Islamic history.

Islam is the cause of radical muslims. The ex-jihadi’s use the excuses of sex and frustration to evade Islam’s responsibility.

Indy, you are right about Jihad, but I would be very surprised if any militant Islamic “leader” ever, ever willingly gives up his life for Jihad. That’s what their follower’s children are for.

Don’t rule out anything.

I think it’s one of the lessons we learned from being in contact with Islam and the Muslims.

This enemy is determined to destroy the West. It will use anything and anyone to achieve its goal.

Complacency and discounting possibilities are out of the question.

Jihad is part of Islam as ordered by Muhammad. In fact, Jihad is the highest point of devotion in the Islamic cult.

So, there is no surprise if even a head of an Islamic state calls for Jihad and/or is a “Martyr” himself.
