Last year a drunken illegal immigrant caused a car crash that killed an Indiana University student here in Bloomington (IN). He was going like 65 mph in a 25 zone. After the crash, he ran to Delaware, where they caught him and sent him back here for trial. See the above link for more details.

Just look at the double standards created. If I go to the Hospital I have to pay. I pay school tax and have to get car insurance. They operate above the law and in many ways and have more rights than me: and I am paying the bill. I have no desire whatsoever to subsidize these cheaters or their cheating employers. If people wanty to come here, they must play fair. You and I both know crime shouldn’t pay, but some people are really slow learners.

But, creating incentives to motivate illegals to go home is critical if we seriously want to deter the next round. The problem of moving out the illegals is hard, but throwing up our arms and caving in to their criminal ways will only drive more of the same. And, the illegal culture and mindset will continue to hurt this country down the road by lowering our standards for the rule of law even further.

We need to have an IRS style no tollerence for cheaters, and make darn sure cheaters have negative consequences, not rewards.

Fair enough. I’d argue that if someone is not getting into trouble with the law (other than being here illegaly), holding a job, learning english and paying taxes, then they’re the kind of citizen I want in this country. The rest can go.

My whole argument started by saying we need to work on this problem in a logical way. The govt can’t do one thing right on immigration, let alone EVERYTHING that needs to be done. I say start with the wall and rounding up criminals who are already on the books, and go from there.

TACOMA, Wash. — The body 12-year-old Zina Linnik, who was abducted from her Tacoma home on July 4, has been found, Tacoma Police Chief Don Ramsdell announced late Thursday night.

Ramsdell said investigators found the body at an undisclosed location in Pierce County after gaining information from a subject, who is currently being held on charges relative to his immigration status….

Ramsdell did not name the subject from whom investigators learned the information. However, police on Monday said they took 42-year-old Terapon Adhahn into custody as a person of interest in the case. Adhahn was then held by immigration authorities, police said.

Adhahn, a level-one sex offender, was detained after police raided a Parkland home on Monday, where they found girl’s undergarments. Police also seized a grey van that matched the general description as the one broadcast in the Amber Alert. Adhahn was at the home, at the time and said he is remodeling the home for his sister…

Adhahn was accused of rape in 1990 and pleaded guilty to incest. He is being held by immigration authorities, but there is a possibility he could end up in the Pierce County jail for failing to register as a sex offender.

Apparently Adhahn was suppose to be deported in 1995 after going thru sex rehab. Instead, he’s still here, illegally. He’s also a registered voter in Pierce County.

I just don’t think it is OK to reward law breakers. Sneaking into the US is spitting in the face of our laws. I don’t want these lawbreakers to be able to stay. I want a new guest worker program that attracts good, honest people, not the cheating illegals. Granting amnesty will only encourage the next round of cheaters.

Like Reagan said” if you subsidize something, you get more of it: if you tax something, you get less of it.” That same principal is right on with illegal immigration. The United States government has plenty of culpability in the illegal immigration problem from their shameful dereliction of border responsibility including non-enforcement on employer sanctions. Just because we caught cancer from smoking doesn’t mean we should do what it takes to irradiate it. The lying, cheating, and corruption in which the illegals are immersed in from the minute they get here and all through their time here becomes culturally ingrained. We need immigrants with clean attitudes, not institutionalized cheaters.

If you get a gang tattoo, we deport you, or maybe just shoot you. One DUI, we deport you. Get in a fight in a bar, and we deport you. Get in a car accident without legally required liability insurance, we deport you, etc., etc., etc.

Stay clean and employed, pay your taxes, pass the tests in English, tell us you want to be a citizen of the US of A, I’ll be your sponsor. Simple as that.

I listen to the Amnesty crowd and can’t believe my ears. I too want to live in a Hollywood mansion, but I don’t deserve to because I failed to earn and achieve what it takes to make it happen. So according to the Amnesty crowd, I should be able to go to Hollywood, find someone elses mansion and “walk right in, and set right down”

To me, that is exactly what the illegals do. What they should be doing is fixing their own countries. That will make the world a better place, not flooding our country with a bunch of selfish undeserving cheaters.

Turn off the electro mangnet, and the tacks will drop. Shut down:
Rent without proper identification
jobs without proper identification
Free pass to criminal employers that employ them
Sanctuary cities
failure to report illegals that enter hospitals
failure to report illegal students that enter schools
Amnesty for driving violations
Amnesty for document fraud

If we do that, many will leave on their own as they should. Any attempt to reward illegal activity should be stopped right away.

Agreed. Consider this, which I have said from the beginning of the CIR debate: if the worthless Feds were to:

a) hunt down, arrest, adjudicate, jail, and then deport the 600,000 illegal aliens who have been ordered deported already and/or are criminal aliens,

2) secure the border, and

C) catch up and properly manage the backlogs of criminal background checks, citizenship applications, and expired visas of all sorts,

then this legislation would have passed in about an hour, without dissent. The fact that the Feds are utterly incapable of any of the above is the most compelling argument against the legislation in the first place.

Our only area of disagreement, other than style I suppose, is that you wish to “[get] something positive done about illegals in this country”, and I don’t particularly give a rats pitut about them.

I got a very large cucaracha up my a$$ beginning the instant that 500,000 illegal aliens marched in downtown Chicago, declaring all sorts of grievances and rights, and carrying Mexican flags, and flipping off people with the Stars and Stripes.

Up in the comments it was suggested I go hang out at a homosexual democratic blog. My conversation didn’t start with you Jaibones, you just jumped in and called me a troll. I didn’t call anyone a racist either. I said I don’t like broad, sweeping generalizations because they get ME tagged as a racist when I talk to others about this topic. Isn’t that kind of the general concensus, is that none of us like being accused of being racist or anti-immigrant when we talk about this?

I see changing the dialogue as key to actually getting something positive done about illegals in this country, and saying you want to make them as miserable as possible (again not your comment) is never going to do that.
