[...] And the first of such interesting things would be this, from Hot Air (yes I have a conservative Streak and read conservative Blogs eh). They are marketing an SUV, by having people disembowel those who buy different cars? Is this what we are? Monsters, murderous and demonic hordes are our advertising icons? I’d rather have Joe Camel back (not that I’d actually want that thing back). [...]

The fact that Toyota is parent to the Scion line makes me wonder if there wasn't any market share left for good cars.

Go to the scion website and one of the entry graphics pages is a cityscape collage of sorts, with one sign reading XXX nudes.

Are these people crazy? This is what happens when you have 20-something kids in charge of advertising - taste and common sense go out the window. What companies are guilty of now is the notion that in order to get "in tune" with the yoot crowd, you need to hire yoots (punks) to do the marketing.

This scion website is the result of that insanity.

Ok, who asked “Can I have a car that looks like a cracker box on a skateboard?”

Your prayers have been answered, baybee…

I like 'em. Bought one last year. Didn't give a damn about the carbon footprint, but did care about the fact that at 46 and with 2 blown out knees it's probably the easiest car to get in and out of I've ever owned. Saw one on the street and took a look and decided it was ugly enough to look pretty good :) . And for the price in my opinion you get one hell of a lot of car for the money. Met a guy who actually traded in his mini-van for one because it had more passenger room.

As for the ad. One word - weird. But I also watch a lot of Japanese anime, and this is mild in comparison.

I think I've found a good color match for Sheeple blood here.

 http://www.amazon.com/Killer-Cans-Candy-400ml-Green/dp/B000LLAYIG/

Product Features

Add tinted decoration to any surface in minutes. Our revolutionary new aerosal spray can features a special nozzle which sprays just like a professional HVLP automotive spray gun.
Alsa's Candy in a can may be used over any surface. Apply directly over painted or unpainted surfaces and topcoat with Alsa's Killer Cans - Speed Clear (two component urethane clearcoat in a spray can)
Available in 15 sensational tints including: Apple Red, Black, Blood Red, Cobalt Blue, Forest Green, Fuscia, Grass Green, Lemon Yellow, Lime Green, Mandarin Orange, Orange, Purple, True Gold & Turquoise.
Alsa's special formulation is color stable and ensures that you'll get the same color each time you order (color authenticity is the same can to can)
Candy in a can sticks to most surfaces and dries in minutes at room temperature. Our easy to apply aerosol spray can elimates the need for messy & uneven brush or sponge application. Just shake, point and shoot!

This comment is not a recommendation either to paint or to refrain from painting any surface.

So, where's the public outcry from the forces of "political correctness"? After all, you've got your violence, your random murder of animals (sheeple), your post-apocalyptic nightmare, etc. You'd think they'd be all over it.

Oh, wait. I forgot.

The "intellectual progressives" want us to drive Scions. To "Save Holy Mother Gaia".

Just like they want us to live in arcologies or small villages, dress like Greenwich Village Bohemians of the Fifties (see From Bauhaus To Our House by Tom Wolfe), recycle everything, do primal scream therapy, crystal-gaze, and discuss Proust while walking in the rain.

I drive a 1990 Lumina minivan.

This tempts me. To put a bumper sticker on the back of it saying, "My Other Car Is A Klingon Battle Cruiser."

Qp'Lah!

cheers

Guys, don't slay me for this post, but in 2005 I looked at the Scion coupe & compared to the Tiburon (looked alike & they didn't sell the Olds Alero anymore).

SO GLAD I didn't buy the Scion! This is the most retarded campaign since LiveEarth.

I found a great weird LP in a bargain bin many moons ago by a British group called THE DEVIANTS. (Worth a listen online for free ...like a punk Beatles ...one song is titled "NOTHING MAN"... meets a more ambitious Ramones.) They should sue for misuse of their name and image by this diseased tripe.

If I had a Scion*, I'd want to kill, too.

Myself.

Back in the days when I was an over the road truck driver, I was at some long forgotten truck stop, trying to relax a bit after countless days of near road rage stress. I was playing this video game where the theme of the game was that a future economic collapse had so destroyed the world's economy that hoards of desperate, starving people were forced to enter gladiator contests. You, the game player, would be a lone gladiator attempting to survive these hoards of starving, desperate people. They would be attempting to overwhelm you with numbers, and club you to death, while the longer you survived, the more weapons you could acquire. Something like space invaders.

As I was playing this game, something just perfect for the mood I was in, after countless days, and nights on the nations freeways, a young boy, about 14 or so, walked over to see what the game was about. After I explained the theme of the game, the boy said, "That's sick!", and walked away, in disgust.

I could only laugh as the [virtual] desperate mob overwhelmed my virtual self, and pounded me into a bloody spot on the video screen.

who had the sheeple.org domain? Time to start a protest, baby.

And Deviants could only have been selected as the name for the home team by someone who doesn't speak English as a first, or even distant second, language.

unless they're going for a very focused market.

My husband and I went to the theater to watch "Knocked Up" and this was one of the commercials before the movie started. It was sick. At the end, one of the Deviants knocks the head of one of the Sheeples and it lands on the Scion like a hood ornament as it drives away and the headless Sheeple chases after it...

Ill-Conceived....absolutely.

Silverstar covered the yoot part,

So I'll explain tuners, You ever see or heard of the movie, 'The Fast and the Furious', or seen crappy cheapo cars with usually crappy looking custom body panels, gaudy fins and decals or paint, maybe custom rims and a loud muffler? Tuners. Some people call them ricers, but its a less PC term, so I went with tuner.
