As for Smeato, definitely a little tipsy, but who really cares? He kicked butt and deserves a pint or three!

I’d say that Smeaton should make a video while chowing down on his favorite pork product and washing it down with his booze of choice. (As long as he isn’t driving.)

Sober, buzzed, or falling-down-pasted, the question is entirely irrelevant to me. I think that in any state of inebriation, Smeaton was, is, and shall be a symbol of a sadly bygone era — when men would fight for nothing but their honor, and a man’s word was sealed by the very sight of his clan’s tartan.

Okay, so the clan tartan thing is uniquely Scottish, but I like to think that the whole honor bit meant something once — even here in the much-blessed United States.

All I wanna know is, with an attitude like that, how come he’s still a Scotsman? We need that kind of pluck here in the good ole U S of A.

2. Smeaton seems a little buzzed – certainly not falling-down drunk, though. Bear in mind that during his now-famous first news appearance, he was hopped up on adrenaline, so maybe this is actually his normal demeanor. He also seems weary of the whole thing. How many times do you suppose he’s told that same story now?

3. IMO, no vomit at the beginning. Pleasant thought, though…

The only good argument I see against it is the waste of tax dollars sustaining them.. but I think you could find a way to balance it if you found the right work to put them to.

“Put the boot in” we shall Smeato… though he’s much too humble, and misguided in thinking that “anyone” would do the same. Not everyone would. The idea to donate his pints to troops returning from Iraq was awesome too.

I do have to point out one thing though, as it pertains to the death penalty. I know, it’s tough not to want it for jihadis, and I’m not sure where I’d come down… but I’m like Smeato in the sense that I oppose the death penalty only because I think doing “hard time” for the rest of their lives is worse punishment. I think anyone sentenced to death would suffer a lot more if they were forced to do hard labor, literally until they die or are physically incapable.
