I think its the other way around. Gore is his son’s Al-batross
Or maybe its his looney bird ?
William Amos on July 8, 2007 at 10:09 PM
He should be so lucky. Jerk.
Lee on July 8, 2007 at 10:10 PM
Typical.
“But, if there now seems just an outside chance the father might end up becoming President after all, one thing that can now be said for certain about Al 3rd is that he will never end up like those guys outside the door.”
How does he figure he has even a snowball’s chance in hell?
boomer on July 8, 2007 at 10:13 PM
Tree. Apple.
SilverStar830 on July 8, 2007 at 10:14 PM
What nut is to moonbat ?
William Amos on July 8, 2007 at 10:19 PM
I’d bet that Secret Service agent would have still done his job and taken a bullet for Gore.
Typical of Gore. From the environment to the internet, Gore and his limousine liberal ilk are elitist snobs.
csdeven on July 8, 2007 at 10:19 PM
Would beat the hell out of ending up like the guy inside the door
PowWow on July 8, 2007 at 10:23 PM
I didn’t know a Prius could go 100 miles an hour!
krabbas on July 8, 2007 at 10:27 PM
Huh?
notably in the environment?
I’d have to disagree somewhat with the latter part of that statement, but It doesn’t follow the theme of the post. That little paragraph kind of jumped out at me, though.
Bonehead.
reaganaut on July 8, 2007 at 10:30 PM
::SIGH:: I would disagree with the former part of that statement, is what I meant to say….
reaganaut on July 8, 2007 at 10:31 PM
This sounds like something Bill or Hill would have said to Chelsea. I wish I could have been a fly on the wall of the bus the Clintons and Gores rode around in on their campaigns. I’ll bet stuff like this was said all the time about those poor guys willing to take a bullet for them. What a shame.
Qzsusy on July 8, 2007 at 10:33 PM
“A story that helps explain how father and son each became a particular kind of loser.”
Says it all! That article is dead on!
synycalwon on July 8, 2007 at 10:36 PM
I am very loathe to go on second hand accounts on anything. And yet, over the years I’ve heard little stories like this personally from people who’ve worked for or dealt with Gore and Kerry. In contrast, the one flight crew I talked to who flew GHWBush and family spoke very highly of them. Living close to Austin as I do, I’ve never heard anything negative about GWB’s behavior. My cousin used to work in a fairly lowly position in his office when he was Gov, and she really likes him.
juliesa on July 8, 2007 at 10:39 PM
What an A-hole. I hate politicians. I really do. Love my country, love regular Americans, but boy do I hate me them politicians.
RW Wacko on July 8, 2007 at 10:39 PM
Spirit of 1776 on July 8, 2007 at 10:39 PM
Oh, and also. with all the time Dick Cheney spends around here, I’ve never heard anything negative about his manners either.
juliesa on July 8, 2007 at 10:41 PM
Al would probably have said the same thing about Jesus if he were standing at the foot of the cross. Jesus did take the bullet for us…
vulcannomad on July 8, 2007 at 10:43 PM
Al’s a jerk.
Oh, and when Al Gore and his fam start walking everywhere and live in a cardboard box, he can lecture to me about my energy consumption, etc. Same goes for all the celebs who live in homes 30 times as big as my apartment with fifteen different cars and decide to lecture me about Global Warming. As of now, they can all bugger off.
mjk on July 8, 2007 at 10:44 PM
Honor, duty, commitment, dedication. Foreign concepts to these liberal snobs.
infidel4life on July 8, 2007 at 10:48 PM
Anymore, most politicians are not one bit different than most TV evangelists.
Nothing but false faces, flim-flam, and chicanery preying on the hopeful.
SilverStar830 on July 8, 2007 at 10:49 PM
Reminds me of the story posted here at HA a few months back about how the Hildebeest treated her body guards and flight crew .
abinitioadinfinitum on July 8, 2007 at 11:03 PM
Michael Daly is an albatross for all of us, as far as I’m concerned. He’s exhibits precisely the same arrogance that Algore does.
…or maybe America’s al-batross.
I blame manbearpig.
urbancenturion on July 8, 2007 at 11:04 PM
I believe Al Gore HAS already said that about Jesus. His god/savior is global warming.
MrFreeman07 on July 8, 2007 at 11:05 PM
I’m no fan of Manbearpig (which, coincidentally, that episode on on comedy central right now) in the least…but this is still, according to that article, based on sort of heresay.
If true, it’s low. But even this righty thinks there’s more to this story than meets the eye…
JetBoy on July 8, 2007 at 11:11 PM
This sort of mockery of the former Vice-President is both cruel and unneccessary. We need to reach out to him because I don’t think he has a lot of friends.
I’m totally serial.
billy on July 8, 2007 at 11:12 PM
Sounds like his kid had troubles way back when. But the Goregod did not heed the warning.
bloggless on July 8, 2007 at 11:15 PM
Algore’s intelligence is a media fabrication. This man is a true mental midget.
From inventing the internet, his hypocritical environmentalism, and not being able to identify a bust of George Washington while touring Monticello, not one of our nation’s finest should be placed in harm’s way to defend this idiot.
dandy on July 8, 2007 at 11:19 PM
I remind you how much ’smarter’ this arrogant man really is.
Entelechy on July 8, 2007 at 11:24 PM
Somehow I think it would be much better than ending up a bloated laughing stock (the father) or a drug addicted ne’re-do-well (the son). What a couple of freakin’ losers.
thedecider on July 8, 2007 at 11:51 PM
From the link…
For all of Gore’s later fascination with science and technology, he often struggled academically in those subjects.
Still does.
soundingboard on July 8, 2007 at 11:55 PM
Just think, if Gore had been elected President, he would be following in Clintons footsteps, he would be pardoning a family member. Roger was indicted for tax fraud and sentenced to two years. He was pardoned before he started to serve the two years.
WoosterOh on July 8, 2007 at 11:58 PM
Well, now we know who taught John Kerry how to tell a joke.
soundingboard on July 8, 2007 at 11:59 PM
right2bright on July 8, 2007 at 11:59 PM
From the article:
“With a movie and a book, Gore has made himself the Big Guy on this issue. He was on ‘Larry King’ last year, talking about the climate crisis, making complete sense and reminding you what his arrogance cost everybody when he lost that election.”
You know, not that I’m surprised, but anyone else notice how the piece still managed to crown Gore a saint by the end?
If I’d been the agent overhearing Gore say that, I’d have walked in, and politely told him that he could find some other “loser” to protect him.
What an unspeakable arrogant *expletive*.

Can you say attachment disorder?

Speakup on July 9, 2007 at 1:41 AM
Let me guess, it was a botched joke? He didn’t really mean to insult the secret service, he really was talking about George Bush. Come on, back him up Senator Kerry, you know how it is when the fear and smear GOP misrepresents (translation: quotes you exactly) your comments.

We cherish people that add nothing to society like, Actors, Musicians, Minstrels, Lawyers, media figures, etc.
When we should celebrate the noble professions: Butchers, Baker, Carpenters, Farmers, Tailors , Tinkers, Teachers, Firemen and Police.
The latter are necessary the former are not.
TheSitRep on July 9, 2007 at 7:19 AM
Algore’s sentiment is largely what’s wrong with the culture today.

I actually heard some loon from Hype Park Illinois on the radio last night make the statement that if Algore had just embraced the support of Billy Bubba Bob Clinton back in 1999, we would be celebrating his second term in office right now, and it would be the good old days like it was back in the 1990’s, because EVERYONE knows how great a President Billy Bubba Bob was!
I honestly wonder sometimes exactly what planet people like this goof from Hype Park think they are on.
pilamaye on July 9, 2007 at 7:30 AM
Where the detective is wrong is that AlGore would never wish his son to be like the men standing outside the door even though his son is a failed dope fiend. The elites would rather have their children be failures than common.
We saw exactly the same sentiment from Kerry with his “study hard or end up in Iraq” statement.
Buzzy on July 9, 2007 at 7:57 AM
According to the book, “Unlimited Access; An FBI Agent Inside The Clinton White House” by Gary Aldrich, early in the “Clinton Camelot”, Chelsea Clinton, while talking to a girlfriend, referred to the Secret Service agents of her protective detail as “paid, professional pigs”. When a senior agent took her aside, pointed out that the agents were there to protect her (with their lives if necessary), and that her “cute remark” was both inappropriate and rude, she simply gave him that trademark Clinton smile and said, “But that’s what my parents call you.”
It seems to me that AlGore From The Planet Eco MK II is a “chip off the old block(head)”- if the blockhead happens to be named Bill.
Stupid consistence, or consistent stupidity?
You tell me.
cheers

Weber’s post at Huff Po up in the headlines was a good read along with the comments. The man has godhead status. I expect a temple to his mother will be erected in the Forum any day.
Limerick on July 9, 2007 at 9:24 AM
Yup, you called it. My parents would have been ecstatic and proud beyond belief if I had landed a job as a secret service agent. I guess Al wants his son to be a rock star putting out huge carbon emissions while he preaches to us about climate change. His son already looks and acts the part, just needs a modicum of music talent now
Keli on July 9, 2007 at 9:26 AM
All I can say is THANK GOD for that razor thin margin in Florida and the founding fathers for devising the electoral college.
highhopes on July 9, 2007 at 9:36 AM
If there are any members of the HA community that still believe that Algore is an honorable man who, in 2000, was trying to make every vote count in Florida I suggest reading the transcript of Gore v. Bush at http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/onpolitics/elections/ussupremecourttext121100.htm and searching for the phrase “disputed ballots”.
While Al Gore was standing in front of TV cameras successfully convincing the American public that he was trying to get a recount in the entire state, his Attorney was arguing before the Supreme Court for a recount of only carefully selected ballots in heavily Democratic precincts.
BOIES: “And what is contested are simply those ballots that during the protest phase have been identified as disputed ballots, so that the protest phase solves 99 percent of the election or more.”
Bush won in the Supreme Court where facts count and Gore won in public opinion where style counts. The country is still suffering from the consequences of the results of that public debate and the ongoing drumbeat that “Bush lies”.
TunaTalon on July 9, 2007 at 9:57 AM
Anyone else think this is jr’s cry for Daddy’s attention. I question the timing of this drug binge.
Also, isn’t it ironic that his mom is the Matron saint of rock-n-roll lyrical do-goodery and she should really be policing here own family’s values. Typical *Do as we say, not as we do* dumocrat.
Alden Pyle on July 9, 2007 at 9:58 AM
Hey, guys. Bush won, Gore lost. Six and a half years have passed. Get over it. It’s time to focus on the future, not the past.
factoid on July 9, 2007 at 10:21 AM
Gore’s kid has that look like he’d be the arrogant A hole who tries to hit on your wife right in front of you and then gets the ever-lovin’ tar beat out of him…
JWS on July 9, 2007 at 10:22 AM
While it is apparently true that this story is going to be difficult if not impossible to verify, it would AT THE WORST fall into the category of “fake but accurate”.
Gore was the senior senator from Tennessee during the nearly 5 years I lived in that state, and it was fairly common to hear stories of his elitist snobbery, his regular demeaning of those who faithfully served him. To be sure, the stories out of Little Rock during the same time frame about the shrew who was that state’s First Lady were worse, her attitude toward “underlings” far more derisive. And now, they might both be running for President. How delightful.
