The Fredheads have a fever and the only prescription is more … Ron Paul? Update: Paul has more cash on hand than McCain

They took a hard look at their options and realized there’s only one Man Who Can Save America, and that’s the capital-p Patriot with two first names and two lips to chap on the collective ass of America’s Truthers.

No, actually, it seems to be some sort of elaborate parody site. An amusing one, too: poke around the forums (here, for example) and note the posts by “Neocon4Fred” and “NeoConsRule”. Exit question: Is “Jason Francis” an actual Fredhead or just a foil for the Pauline hordes?

45-45, by the way, in case you’re keeping track.

Update: Tremble before the fundraising power of the Truther hordes! No, actually, that’s as much a testament to the feebleness of St. John’s campaign as to Paul’s grassroots support. How bad has it gotten? He’s firing staffers in Florida, where the first truly major primary will be held in January.

Yeah, gotta love “GoFred”’s signature:

Elect Fred & Jeb 2008
TRUE PATRIOTS SUPPORT THE NORTH AMERICAN UNION!

amerpundit on July 6, 2007 at 1:11 PM

After all the stupid poll spamming, this effort from the Ron Paul supporters actually made me smile.

frankj on July 6, 2007 at 1:15 PM

Just like you, Fred puts his pants on one leg at a time. The difference is, when his pants are on, he saves America.

bmac on July 6, 2007 at 1:15 PM

Yeah, it looks a bit bogus to me. Not worth spending any time on.

jdawg on July 6, 2007 at 1:16 PM

Now we know what csdeven’s been up too! ;)

KelliD on July 6, 2007 at 1:16 PM

This is interesting, too. Apparently, “Fred08″ likes Ron Paul.

I Kinda Like Ron Paul
He’s a little out there, but I like how he stands on many issues.

MMikeyJ responds:

Yeah, I like him alot myself. In fact I havent found an issue that I can disagree with him on. I was watching a video of Judge Napolitano where he talked about Ron Paul and called him the Thomas Jefferson of our day. I like that.

One commenter says:

I came here looking for information on Fred Thompson, but you people sound like the hitler youth.

I am totaly disgusted! And you people should be ashamed of yourselfs. After reading these posts I think i’ll go find another candidate to support.

YOUR SICK!
You talk about bombing Iran like it would be fun to watch woman and children die.
You talk about how great the north american union would be, not caring one bit it would mean the end of your country.
And you all seem to think that anyone that disagrees with you is a terrorist and should be sent to Gitmo.

Are you people brianwashed?

You people aren’t Americans, your triators!

GoFred responds:

Terrorist Alert! Terrorist Alert!

Sounds like someone is letting a terrorists use the internet down at Gitmo

“Alabama” responds:

Get back in your cage TRAITOR!

Yep. Looks like a Fred supporter smearing site by Paulites.

Thanks Frank for delving into this…

Damn, I got my Fred! thank you for your donation letter today. To think I could have donated elsewhere to really make a difference. Sorry Ron, I’ll forever kick myself for not supporting you, or Rudy, or Mitt, or McCain, or Brownback, or Huckabee, or Hunter, or Tancredo. What could I have possibly been thinking?

Fred!mania IS starting to seem a little bit like Paulmania. You guys should turn it down a notch or two.

Big S on July 6, 2007 at 1:38 PM

And my single biggest concern about Fred! seems to have been addressed…

So what? It’s all fiat currency.

Exit answer: Francis actually appears to be authentic, and thought he was on a real Fred support site. His one comment asks:

Am I the only one that gets the feeling that this site is just a “Front” for shadow Ron Paul supporters to trash Fred Thompson with racist comments, unrealistically extreme political statements, and outright lies?

amerpundit on July 6, 2007 at 1:41 PM

Evidently that small number of “loud people” standing up against shamnesty were a little bit larger then Sen McCain initially thought. I don’t think it helped John much either to come out yesterday in praise of Sarkozy’s courage to fight… yes global warming. There comes a time when I think John McCain should step back and take a look at the Republican party and recognize the fact that he does not represent us. I just hope he has the wisdom to leave quietly.

If Ron Paul can accomplish one thing by running, I hope it would be to focus as much attention as possible on the welfare state. I think it is the root of many of our problems and it should be re-visited. This current health care discussion could make the problem worse.

saiga on July 6, 2007 at 1:52 PM

Ron Paul is living breathing proof that left wing liberal wackjobs do not hold proprietary rights when it comes to being a looney!

pilamaye on July 6, 2007 at 1:52 PM

He may be a looney, but he can sure get the pie holes flapping.

jp on July 6, 2007 at 1:50 PM

I’m not surprised. I posted a poll on my site, and within 20 minutes, there were over 20 votes for Paul. Surprisingly, it seemed that everyone who visited, voted. Everyone who voted voted for Ron Paul. I checked my incoming traffic, and noticed it came from Technorati searched for “Ron Paul”. If you check Technorati’s front page, he’s the top search.

His supporters use the engine to find Paul related posts, and vote in all of the polls, or defend Paul from criticism. In this way, they can inflate support for Paul, without actually having election votes behind them.

FredThompson-Redefining campaigning in America!

Dread Pirate Roberts VI on July 6, 2007 at 2:09 PM

No. I like Mitt. I just worry that Americans find the Mormon faith a little too creepy. Also, I hate any form of gun control. I’m worried sick that hillary may get in because of any strong competition. I tend to think Rudy is a one trick pony, and McCain is out. The rest seem rather lightweight to me. Also, newt has too much baggage. Fred sound good, but I just hope he can hang when the sharp knives come out.

Capitalist Infidel on July 6, 2007 at 2:13 PM

I certainly hope Fred does well, honestly. I’m between him and Rudy. I just worry about how Fred will start doing when he gets live hardballs thrown at him. Rudy let the race, because of what he said in the past, before debates. Now he’s behind Fred, after having been in a few debates. Nothing’s to say that the same can’t happen to Fred.

I’m sure moderators like Matthews will ask about his 1994 survey on abortion, etc.

I brought this up yesterday, but since we are talking about Ron Paul fundraising, the spray painted bed sheet supporting Ron Paul is still haning from the pedestrian overpass. I understand grass roots and all, but seriously, a bedsheet? What’s next, a Ron Paul TP party?

Limerick on July 6, 2007 at 2:15 PM

Fred has a lot of experience. I just can tell what drives him and if he really has adequate fire in the belly. He is an accomplished politician and actor, but he seems a little wooden in interviews. If he hires the right people, they may craft and focus a unique message. You have to be different to be better, and Fred seems pretty main line conservative with nothing really new. He will need a little more easyness to make inroads across the aisle to get elected.

amerpundit on July 6, 2007 at 2:11 PM

I know, but he’s been doing a pretty good job of vetting himself and getting all the negatives out early. If he can hold on a bit longer and the rest of the pack start running out of money and a few drop out (JM-TT) and if things don’t look good for Newt (which they don’t) he picks up enough hardcore conservative votes to win the nomination in a cake walk. After that…we’ll see. Besides Hillary can’t get about 45%, she can’t win the South, and she and Bloomberg split NJ/NY/CT it’s over!

Then again, I was sucked in by Perot!!! So disregard everything I ever say!

I’m trying to hold back any opinion I have for Fred until I see a lot more from him. I’m looking forward to his first debate alongside Mitt and Rudy. I need to see how he is without a script. I’m sure all of us civics geeks will be on the edge of our seats for that one. I’m also looking forward to seeing how he actually handles real attacks from the left once he has officially declared and they really start to come after him. I’m looking forward to seeing how his poll numbers react once the mystery about his candidacy is removed. I am still concerned that he could win the Republican nomination and then prove himself to be a dissapointing candidate in the general election. I’ve been underwhelmed by some of his speeches so far and am still waiting for something out of him that convinces me that he deserves frontrunner status over Mitt and Rudy. His performance on that late night talk show was terrible in my opinion. Until he proves his merit to me I’m going to have to stick with Mitt. After GW Bush I’m pulling for smarts and there are few quicker and more agile on their feet then Mitt.

I liked your summary; well said. I, too, find myself uncomfortably in the anyone-but-a-DemoRat camp, and favoring either Mitt or Fred!. I sense that too many voters will find Mitt to be disingenuous and too staged. He is slick, and I agree with virtually all of his important positions. But his flip-floppery might come off as opportunistic.

As for Fred!, it would be helpful to hear a clear statement on the war in Iraq, and the larger *war on terror*, although it has been amazing to watch his success as the stealth candidate. At this rate, if he remains unannounced in January, he should have the nomination locked and a 20 point lead on Hillarama…

I was a firm supporter on the Iraq action, and I understand the danger of global jihad, but Iraq is an ugly ugly ugly situation. My parents were in Saudi Arabia for many years, and when this war broke out,my mom told me “wait and see. Those people there don’t have what it takes to run their own show. Their deal is all about conflict and religious dogma. Ruling themselves democratically is something they just won’t take responsibility for.”

I hate to say it, but I see signes of that over there and have trouble mustering enough faith in them to want to hang there indefinately. It’s kind of a poop or get off the pot kind of thing, and they aint pooping.

The biggest tell is that’s theres a poll up about whether Fred Thompson can beat Ron Paul, and Fred Thompson is losing — on a supposed Fred Thompson fan site.

Technically, it’s not called “parody” when you falsely post something in public with a specific agenda and no discernable sense of humor.

That’s called “fraud.”

No, it’s four polls in a row by Rasmussen- who’s traditionally had the most accurate results- that show Fred tied or ahead of RINO Rudy, although by a small margin.

The reason for the discrepancy is that others in the RCP stats you linked (like Fox) simply poll registered voters while Rasmussen polled likely primary voters who tend to be amongst the more conservative party base… and are the ones who actually count with regards to the primaries.

How’s that for the quantitative analysis, RINO-lover? Or how about this quantitative analysis- if RINO Rudy wins the nomination, I’ll stay home or vote 3rd party, and I won’t be the only one.

doriangrey on July 6, 2007 at 4:44 PM

Hollowpoint

Do you really trust Rasmussen’s “secret formula” that much? Each polling firm has their own methods and weights likelihoods depending on their various registration numbers and past voting patterns. Sure, it’s a few weeks in a row, but it’s only one polling firm, and still within the MOE. Determining “likely voters” is a crapshoot anyways, and changing political landscapes change likelihoods. As you yourself have said, the likelihood that you will vote changes depending on who the nominee(s) is/are. I can only hope that you and those like you continue to marginalize yourselves by trying to exclude those you call “RINOs.”

It depends upon which issues he breaks from the base. If he pulls a Bush on illegal immigration, yes that will be very bad for our party both long term and short term. But if he only breaks from the base via a few social issues (homo marriage, abortion, stem cells, etc) the damage will be more minimal. If he proves to be a good leader on the WOT as is the image he is trying to portray then all will be forgiven and he will be a net benefit. We have to realize that we will rarely get everything we want. When it does come around we need to be prepared to grab it. When its not there we should almost always take the next best option unless you want to be prepared to rarely win elections.

Darn those Ron Paul supporters, spamming his donation box like they do Internet polls.

In related news, marijuana prices dropped significantly; reduced demand cited. Ron Paul supporters no longer able to afford weed after throwing away their pizza delivery money in support of the dead horse known as Ron Paul.

I think McCain is the dead horse. Paul will be re-elected to congress. Besides, lighten up. Paul is fun to watch and confounds many dems. You sound bitter like an MS13 gang member.

Yep, he raised a staggering 2.4 million, the same thing he raised last quarter…meaning that his base is stagnant i.e. not growing and most likely tapped out for the time being… In other words it’s exactly what we all knew, he has a small and limited support base, which grossly over inflates it size on the internet.

Compare his 2.4 million total fund raising to Obama’s 10.4 million raised solely on the internet, thats not counting the 14.5 million Obama’s raised in the old fashioned traditional glad handed way…

Hell the amount RP has raised so far would even allow him to run a successful campaign for senator here in California.

I guess with a name like hollowpoint, you don’t much care for gun control. I like Ted nugents definition of gun control myself. Look up Kalashnikov saiga.

This is just a reflection of how out of touch these Ron Paul supporters are. Instead of attacking fred? on all his obvious weaknesses they go for the groupies. Well, we all know the groupies are really voting for some character freddie boy played on some TV show he was on, so their cluelessness is obvious.

fred? will have to deal with his failure to understand the Cuban immigration policy, his abdication of Iraq war policy to soldiers attitudes about the war. Also, his absolute dismally pathetic performances in his three softball interviews. His weak senate record, his total lack of executive experience, his questionable work as a lobbyist that worked to cheat American citizens out of the settlements they were due from unscrupulous companies that used asbestos when they knew it was dangerous, will be other issues he will eventually have to answer for. Add to that his pro-choice flip-flop, and his insulting behavior by teasing his announcement date and then changing it AGAIN at the last minute.

Then we have his character issues…..he promoted himself as a DC playboy to the point that congress deemed it necessary to question him on it. He lies about his insider status. He fakes out his supporters by with his BS red pickup truck schtick. Lately he lied to a pro-family group by claiming he has been with them the whole time, while hiding behind his kids in a video. It’s starting to look like freddie boy collected a wife and kids in order to build an image as a family guy and it that video it was clear he was contriving that image.

So yeah, it’s clear that the RP supporters that are trying to make fred? supporters sound stupid, just expose themselves as less than competent in political banter.

“Secret formula”? Go to their website and see for yourself- Rasmussen polled likely primary voters while Fox et al simply polled registered voters. Given the past accuracy of their results, they’re probably the most trusted political polling organization in the country.

Funny though how after you brought up the RCP link in the first place you suddenly don’t trust polls. Advantage: Hollowpoint.

And no, I wouldn’t try to marginalize everyone who disagrees with me as a RINO, only those who support a RINO over a conservative. Especially a gun-grabbing, sanctuary city loving, authoritarian one-trick-pony like Rudy.

Well, they and the Ron Paul kiddie patrol of course.

Hollowpoint on July 6, 2007 at 4:56 PM

You Fredheads aren’t too good with the quantitative analysis.

Big S on July 6, 2007 at 3:40 PM

Here’s some quantitative analysis:

RT/Cook poll stats show 36 leaning right, 44 leaning left, and the balance saying they don’t lean either way or refusing to state.

CNN has Rudy at 30% Fred at 19% McCain at 19% Romney at 9% and Newt at 8%… need I say more?

Newsweek? USA today? then.. Fox News & Rasmussen… ???

Considering the fact that I would fairly say the people polled are majority moderate to left leaning, they won’t be voting in the GOP Primary anyway. I think that the fact that the average of all these polls shows Fred! (unannouced) as within 4% speaks volumes about his potential.

No need, I know exactly what you’re talking about. Especially considering there’s a Romanian SAR-1 (with double stack magazines of course), SKS, Mosin Nagant M44, M43 and CZ-52 hidden in my closet right now.

Not that they’d be there if RINO Rudy or FlipFlop Mitt had their way…
