As many as eight British cops suspected of links to Al Qaeda

The squad needed more diversity.

Up to eight police officers and civilian staff are suspected of links to extremist groups including Al Qaeda.

Some are even believed to have attended terror training camps in Pakistan or Afghanistan

The dossier was drawn up with the help of MI5 amid fears that individuals linked to Islamic extremism are taking advantage of police attempts to increase the proportion of ethnic staff.

Astonishingly, many of the alleged jihadists have not been sacked because - it is claimed - police do not have the “legal power” to dismiss them…

Instead, the staff who are under suspicion are unofficially barred from working in sensitive posts and are closely monitored. Political correctness is blamed for the decision not to sack them…

Suspicions are growing that the gang behind the failed London bomb attacks could have received inside information about rescue procedures in the aftermath of an atrocity in the capital.

The Daily Mail can reveal that the second device parked near Haymarket was left at a designated “evacuation assembly point” where civilians and the emergency services would have gathered had the first bomb gone off…

As a result of the Stephen Lawrence public inquiry report, which accused the Met of being “institutionally racist”, Scotland Yard has in recent years employed thousands of officers and civilian staff from the ethnic minorities in an attempt to reach recruitment targets.

An excellent point from one of our commenters: “This explains where the mysterious ‘tip-off’ phone call came from that set them off running to the Glasgow airport.” Quite possibly.

If they can’t count on their cops then they’ve got only one thin line of defense left.

Excellent point Old Dog. Didn’t think of that.

Can they just shoot them then?

I’m not sure if we are not any less infiltrated by our common enemy. Ironically, the Brits were riddled with spies pre-WW2 and during the cold war. But as I already said, not sure we can throw stones.

Blake on July 6, 2007 at 9:49 PM

Firing orders
All enemy operatives that are found on U.S. soil that do not wear a uniform can and should be summarily shot on site.
This is according to the rules of land warfare

Sources said it is unlikely that the Met is the only force which may have been infiltrated by Al Qaeda sympathisers.

Understatement of the year.

Before or after being dragged by the government into police service joining?

It’s not the legal power that’s missing, it’s the balls on the government ministers. John Smeaton for Prime Minister!

Oh yes - diversity, isn’t it wonderful.

I’ll keep expressing my diversity through my choice of weapons. I am actually quite diverse, hmm - 9mm, 10mm, 44 caliber, shotgun (3 kinds), high powered rifle and so on…

Oh, I can be even more diverse when it comes to ammunition.

OK PC-morons, I’ll pit my diversity vs. yours any day of the week.

The article doesn’t seem to mention their religious sentiments. I’m guessing Zoroastrian or Odinist, myself.

Blacklake on July 6, 2007 at 10:38 PM

Diversity / Affirmative action + political correctness x dhimmitude = Jihadapalooza!

This is getting ridiculous. The West really needs to get it together.

CP on July 6, 2007 at 10:44 PM

But diversity of religious nutbags one of our strengths!

Little Boomer on July 6, 2007 at 10:46 PM

I’m all for diversity, how about some persecuted Hindus and Buddhists and lets save some of those Iraqi Christians. Beautiful diversity. I just don’t really understand why diversity lately has to be about importing a political theology that wants to destroy us.

Keli on July 6, 2007 at 10:50 PM

Gotta love this line from our girly-men, multicultural British (who are so far gone they beyond help):

About if they discover a Muslim in the force with ties to terrorism:

We take matters of security very seriously and if an issue arises, people may be subjected to further assessment.

What a consequence! They get to stay in the force even if they are terrorists. Multiculturalism for the Brits is more important than security.

januarius on July 6, 2007 at 10:56 PM

I’m sure glad we’re not fighting a faith based ideology it’s so much easier to fight a few extremists who are poor, oppressed and never get any.

Speakup on July 6, 2007 at 11:33 PM

Two years ago my car was stolen in the West End of London. It was one in the morning on a Friday night and there were thousands of people about on the streets. I went to West End Central Police Station to report my car’s theft - West End Central is the main cop shop for Central London covering the very busy areas of Regent Street, Picadilly Circus, Oxford Street and Soho. Entering the station I found a very irate taxi driver shouting at a Nigerian woman in civilian clothes who was “manning” the incident desk at the station. “What’s the point of you being here, I can’t understand a bloody word you’re saying!”
And with that he stormed out of the room. I then spent twenty minutes trying to explain to the same woman, who I couldn’t understand and who couldn’t understand me , where I had left my car before it was stolen. So, representing the Metropolitan Police that night was an African woman who could barely understand English. To make the picture complete there was a pile of anti-crime booklets on display at the desk - their title ? “Islamophobia - How to report it “

London Boy on July 6, 2007 at 11:41 PM

I’m still just stumped as to what links all these terrorists together… there must be something. They weren’t all doctors, just some. And now we have police suspects? I heard some nut suggest that Islam is the common denominator, but we all know that’s just ridiculous!

RightWinged on July 6, 2007 at 11:49 PM

I am baffled, just BAFFLED by our seeming inability
to define that which strives to annihilate the secular
culture of the West. It is Islamic Fascisism and its
here to stay until victorious apparently. I am appalled
and, yes, frightened by the extent of Political Correctness
as it extends to every facet of our society. It has made
us fearful of the consequence of ” offense ” from ordinary
discourse to cowardly inaction when threatened by killers
near and far. If this be war, then we had best meet their
fury and resolve with our own…and be prepared to kill
them by the scores! They will not hate us any more, I think.

Can’t possibly be the ‘Religion of Peace(tm)’ can it?

(’Religion of Peace’ is trademarked by Satan, the devil, Father of Lies, False Prophet, and the number 666)

CrazyFool on July 6, 2007 at 11:57 PM

I is for the Infidels you’re killing,
S is for the Satanic ways you act.
L is for your Losers, all too willing.
A is for the Absurdities that you swallow
M is for the Mo-ron that you follow.

Put them all together, they spell…

(What the Brits apparently are too afraid to tell…)

None of this surprises me for some reason. This is just one of the many fallouts of liberalism. Include everyone…even those who want to kill you. Yea…right…good idea liberals.

A great civilization cannot be conquered from without until it destroys itself from within…Ariel Durant

Political correction will destroy us within. When we can’t even identify those that want to kill us then our right to basic survival is removed.

volsense on July 7, 2007 at 8:47 AM

Please, as the jihadists try to kill us, make sure not to “OFFFEND” them. One of the PC commandments (perhaps the most important) “thou shall not offend” must be complied with at all times.

mountainmanbob on July 7, 2007 at 9:04 AM

So the already overstretched and ineffective Brit police have to spend manpower and resources monitoring their own officers and staff as a threat?!

Gah.

Diversity has a downside?

Editor on July 6, 2007 at 9:41 PM

A fellow over at Harvard, by the name of Frank Dobbin, has published a study of “diversity programs” across 700+ private companies, using employment data and surveys on employment practices. His paper reveals that, “Practices that target managerial bias through…diversity training, show virtually no effect.” In fact, “Research to date suggests that… training often generates a backlash.”

Interesting read.

The paper notes “Employers usually offer training either to all managers or to all employees”. Heh. Offered. Like you are offered a choice.

“Ironically, the Brits were riddled with spies pre-WW2 and during the cold war.”

Of the Communist variety, I must add. The Nazi spies were rubbish, and we got rid of them tout-suite. In an age when the Russians were supposed to be our friends, Communist spies poured out of Oxford and Cambridge, and we leaked secrets like a sieve. We gave the Russians their nuclear programme and we gave them jet engines.

British people have always looked to their government for guidance; perhaps it is a relic of the feudal age. Britain has always had a deep faith in its establishments. A long time ago Britain had faith in Marks & Spencers and the Royal family; now it has faith in the BBC and the swarm of useless liberal people who feed on public money. The BBC’s current trendy cause is slavery. The current generation of British Muslim schoolchildren are being taught that Britain was the evil global centre of an evil slave trade, that Britain’s supposed love of liberty is a lie, and that Europeans are our moral betters. At the same time schools are shying away from teaching the Nazi holocaust, because this might cause offence to schoolchildren who do not care for Jewish people.

“diversity programs”

I’ll bet a million pounds that these programmes do not extend to the boardroom, or above the level of the shop floor. There was a post here, a while back, which had video footage of an editorial conference at one of the leading US broadsheets, and the ethnic mix was whiter than the bleached bones of a beached whale.

British people have always looked to their government for guidance; perhaps it is a relic of the feudal age. Britain has always had a deep faith in its establishments.

Oh I don’t know about that. Charles Dickens gave most of Britain’s institutions a good going over in the mid-19th century.

aengus on July 7, 2007 at 12:58 PM

So let me get this straight:

The Brits are hiring jihadis as cops and doctors in response to phoney complaints about diversity. Political correctness forbids them from firing jihadis trying to kill them. And the Brits are forbidden to say “Muslim” and “terrorist” in the same sentence or to mention “the war on terror” at all.

Madness! MADNESS!

How would that work back in WWII? What if the Brits were forced to hire stormtroopers in response to German complaints that there weren’t enough Nazis hired by the British government? What if the Brits couldn’t fire German Nazis on staff even if they were found promoting a Nazi state by force in Britain? What if the British government, in order to appease the Nazis, forbid British officials to mention “Nazi” or “war” or “Holocaust” in the same sentence?

MADNESS!

Tantor on July 7, 2007 at 3:25 PM

Pretty scary, huh…? How long should we wait before buying Hummers, tanks and artillary of our own for the day that the next Democrat President blunders our forward fighters into a bloodbath and we have to reinact the The Great Siege of Malta

Rugged Individual on July 7, 2007 at 3:28 PM

Apeking: “British people have always looked to their government for guidance; perhaps it is a relic of the feudal age. Britain has always had a deep faith in its establishments.”

Where the English formed their colonies in America, those cultural artifacts remain in the sensibilities of the Blue States who favor a top-down centralized society. They look to their elites to set the agenda. The Scots-Irish in the mountain border areas preferred to think for themselves, forming a meritocratic democracy. That’s redneck Red State thinking.

A long time ago Britain had faith in Marks & Spencers and the Royal family; now it has faith in the BBC and the swarm of useless liberal people who feed on public money. It would be very informative to sit all these doctors down and see if they can pass any typical American medical qualification exam.
Doubtful they could pass the British version - without help. Enough medical background to appear legit, but frauds.
“Quack” as a medical concept and descriptive word comes from the Indian subcontinent.

naliaka on July 7, 2007 at 11:10 PM

“Diversity”, as some will agree, has become as negative a meaning as “multiculturalism”. It’s about time that we stop bowing to it, as it gets us nowhere.
