Video: Victim of London bombings begs Howard to pull out of Iraq
posted at 3:11 pm on July 5, 2007 by Allahpundit
It’s Louise Barry, who was riding the Tube to work two years ago on July 7 when the bombs went off. Luckily, she wasn’t aboard any of the trains that were hit; unluckily, after she was evacuated she hopped on the same bus that Hasib Hussain ended up on. The toggle switch from his bomb reappeared in a London hospital a few days later after surgeons removed it from her leg. Naturally, she’s very angry — at John Howard, for having sent troops to Iraq.
Here’s her new spot for GetUp Australia, released at a moment when Howard’s already got his hands full trying to explain his defense minister’s remarks about oil. If you’re wondering about GetUp, they’re exactly who you think they are:
GetUp was founded by Jeremy Heimans and David Madden, two young Australian graduates of Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government who have worked at the intersection of technology, new media and politics in the United States. David and Jeremy are now co-founders of Avaaz.org, a new global online political community inspired by the success of GetUp and the US group MoveOn.org.
If “Avaaz” rings a bell, that’s because they were behind this execrable piece of moral equivalence that made the rounds in May.
As you watch, let Hassan Butt’s words echo in your ears: “By blaming the government for our actions, those who pushed the ‘Blair’s bombs’ line did our propaganda work for us. More important, they also helped to draw away any critical examination from the real engine of our violence: Islamic theology.”

Blowback

So Sheila, how many more attacks do we all endure before we take any action? Maybe a review of Islamic attacks against the west should give you insight.
Kini on July 5, 2007 at 3:21 PM
It’s that other part, you know, the Islamic extremists drive for global Islamic domination brought about through violent jihad that’s the real problem.
Pulling out of Iraq may make you feel safer, but, sound policy decisions aren’t made based on feelings. They are made based on an assessment of the facts. And, the facts, in this case, don’t support hiding our heads in the sand and hoping that the extremists will get bored with world domination before they get to our neck of the woods.
JadeNYU on July 5, 2007 at 3:22 PM
Yes, of course, it’s Howard/Bush/Blar that is causing the terrorism! They got us into this mess, didn’t they? Weren’t they responsible for WT 93, the Cole, Kobar Towers, hell, let’s blame freaking 1982 Beirut on them while we’re at it…oh wait a minute, those terrorist attacks all happened BEFORE the Howard/Bush/Blar trilogy of evil. Hmmmmm, I guess the only question left to ask is: How stupid are these people, really? Do they REALLY believe their own drivel?
JustTruth101 on July 5, 2007 at 3:23 PM
I thought it was Australia’s involvement in East Timor that pissed of the jihadis.
Useful idiot.

TheSitRep on July 5, 2007 at 3:25 PM
The frightening thing is that so many people think that the “West’s” foreign policy is the cause of terrorism when it’s really simple, islamonazies want to bring about the next caliphate. They want Sharia law to rule the entire world.

It is people like Louise Barry that terrorists literally salivate over, because when they see ads like this, they know they are winning. Anyone check to see if one of Louise’s ancestors here happened to be Neville Chamberlain?

Let’s blame the fledgling democracy of the United States for the kidnappings and ransoms for the Barbary States because we should have known better than to conduct business in that part of the planet. Stupid me, It’s really my fault for being a Jew who we all know are the true evil ones because brother Mo said so in his delusion.
Go on now, I accept full responsibility for the mishaps of the entire f@#cking planet, because I’m a Jew.
Damn those dumbass whores! Which hospital was she getting treatment, the BBC Hospital for Brainwashed Loons? aaahhhhggg

These people really believe ignorance is bliss. Just stick your head in the sand and the problem goes away. Same mentality as the 1930′s with Hitler. The world is stuck on stupid!

Misplaced outrage.
It is so much easier (and more PC), to blame ourselves than it is to blame those trying to kill us.
nailinmyeye on July 5, 2007 at 3:46 PM
By all means, don’t fight terror. Give them Iraq and Afghanistan as well. Allow them access to whatever they desire and sit back and wait for the next 9/11, but maybe 10 times worse.
Pacifism has never won a war nor any battles. It just prolongs the inevitable and allows your enemy to become beter organized and stronger.
LewWaters on July 5, 2007 at 3:47 PM
Correst me if I am wrong but have the jihadis blown anything up in Austrailia? Sounds like Prime Minister Howars is doing a great job keeping Australia safe. If she was in Sydney instead of Londinistan she wouldn’t have been injured, right?

The Bali attack occured in 2002, well before the invasion of Iraq. I suppose the key difference is that she was not wounded in that attack.
Defense Guy on July 5, 2007 at 3:54 PM
if the Education system was incompetent and corrupt, this wouldn’t be as big a problem because they would teach about the 400 years of Islamic crusades and how they took the Middle East by force. Instead of only giving history of the European crusades/push back that happened after that. And of course the importance of the battle of Poiters.

Rod on July 5, 2007 at 4:01 PM
So, let’s check her line of reasoning. The same terrorists who intend to do this every day, are in Iraq. We’re fighting them in Iraq. So, the logical solution is to pull out of Iraq, and let the terrorists continue to gain power. Yeah, that’ll make us safer.
Was the West’s foreign policy to blame, when these Islamists were killing each a thousand years ago? The terrorists aren’t even trying to hide their intentions. They come out with videos actually saying that their goal is to kill us, because we’re infidels. The Left’s response? It must be our foreign policy.

This is just an example of what’s going on in America, too. Teach the children that America is always wrong. That it is responsible for all of the evil in this world. That we should join the Community of Nations. That if America would only stop, all would be well. Yes, America was at fault for nuking Japan. How dare we respond to attack. And, yes, America was at fault for the attack on the Towers. Damn all of those “little Eichmann’s.”
The Socialists in this country want it to collapse. And their target is the children. They will be educated. Yes, educated to hold America in utter contempt.
If the parents continue to allow our public schools to serve as “re-education camps,” this nation is lost. Hitler knew the target – the Hitler Youth. Stalin knew the target, too – the Young Pioneers. It’s happening here, and it must be stopped, before it’s too late. I fear for this beautiful Nation.
OhEssYouCowboys on July 5, 2007 at 4:14 PM
Fine. Get out. If it will make Louise fell safer, then pull out. I’m not being sarcastic. If the Australians and the Brits really want to get out (and we have every indication that the public does) then they should pull out. But I reserve the right to point and laugh when the attacks don’t stop, indeed when they become more frequent.
This same kind of political message is coming to a tv near you this fall. The desire to end the war by any means is widespread and popular and gaining momentum. The number of supporters of staying in Iraq are fewer and fewer every day. This fall or winter we will reach a tipping point and, as they say, it’s game over, man.
Sorry to say, but Louise is the future. Embrace the suck.

TheSitRep on July 5, 2007 at 4:20 PM
Louise is not alone by any means. She actually has some quite prominent company.
Perhaps my prior comment was too optimistic. That happens sometimes. Perhaps the tipping point is here. God help us.

Did anyone notice the background in her clip? It resembles the Jihadist clips. Nothing discernable about the location, no belongings, Just someone’s hallway. By being so plain, maybe it is a little telling. Again, maybe I’m wrong

Someone needs to explain to me how leaving Iraq means the bombs stop ?
There is no evidence that it will. In fact it will more than likely mean that the bombs will increase

I agree, this seems to be endemic among the anti war crowd they have a problem assessing blame in the right direction and they believe “if only” we just run home and apologize the mean old bad men will go away and they’ll be safe again, as if any of us ever were safe.
The definition of brain damage is performing the same act over and over and expecting different results.
Putting you head back into the sand won’t put the world back where was, in fact Sharia will advance even faster and more westerners will die not less.

The line followed by the left seems to be…”They can’t be doing this for no reason! Why would someone blow themselves up? They must have a legitimate reason for doing this.”
Well, there is a reason they are doing this, it just isn’t one that fits into the left’s multi-culti view of the world.
And it’s not legitimate.
VolMagic on July 5, 2007 at 6:41 PM
My response to people who talk like her is to ask them, if they think listening is worthwhile in any conversation or if they always make up what other people have to say. Mocking the anti-globalist crowd, I follow up with the claim that their beliefs “erase the voices of the muslims.”
I’ve found my technique highly effective in that the leftists feel uncomfortable and leave the conversation. I suppose I wouldn’t recommend it if you want to pick up the moonbat, but a few moonbats will come back a little more reasonable in the next conversation.

I guess this woman has forgotten that terrorists have been blowing stuff up BEFORE the war in Iraq. I just can’t stand these kinds of people who think that if we just give the terrorists what they want they will just leave us alone. That’s not how it works. Additionally, the recent attacks in Great Britain were originally hatched by Abu Musab Al-Zarqawi. An Al Qaeda terrorist leader in Iraq BEFORE the war in Iraq.

Call it what you want, but last I checked we were fighting a war against an emerging theocracy (currently in the form of Islam).
Despite being a spiritual person, I have no desire for man made theocracies to rule our planet like they did in the dark ages.
Unless God himself decides to come down and rules in the physical, I’ll choose democracy over any other type of government governed by man. Or a woman.
Darnell Clayton on July 5, 2007 at 9:04 PM
I remember 1989 when the wall came down. I remember ’91 when the Soviet Union collapsed. Maybe we thought it was over, but it wasn’t. They just changed tactics–they went underground. I’m telling you, the socialists are making their play for the West. They don’t call themselves that, and they may not even realise it themselves, but many of our left-wing friends are in fact socialists, or even communists.
Most people think that the greatest threat to the world is radical Islam, but I think that it is still socialism. The socialists are tacitly aligned with the Islamists to defeat our way of life–each side thinking they can then defeat the other in the aftermath–Islamists thinking they can kill the socialists, Socialists thinking (as they always do) that religion is for the weak-minded and therefore will not be a factor when the people experience utopia.
If we were as clear-headed about socialism as we should be, we could throw it in the junkyard where it belongs and we could stand united against Islamism, and defeat it with the vigor that it requires.
In China during the struggle against both communism and the Japanese, Chiang Kai Shek (who also was no saint) said, “The Japanese are a disease of the skin. The communists are a disease of the heart.” I believe we could change two words and it would fit our situation pretty well.
Sorry for the long post. It is just my opinion.

About 200 years ago, the Barbary Pirates were kidnapping your countrymen and enslaving them, was that too related to the War in Iraq?
