Mike, you’re arguing against a point I never made. I did not say that you called KP a sociopath. I quoted you when you called her the political equivalent of one. While you have every right to your own opinion, I DO think that’s outrageous bordering on a Godwin violation. You don’t want to take her at her word, or take the word of Allahpundit, then don’t… but if you really understood what a sociopath is, you wouldn’t play that card. I have a hard time believing that KP is really a “moderate” given the fact that her stated positions are diametrically opposed to those of her preferred candidate. Hot Air threads relating to this time and time again. I spent five minutes perusing her Powerpo!nt blog and it’s all classic Nutroots “Impeach Cheney, Impeach Bush” material.

A pleasant, disarming face adept at mimicking “reasonable” sounding political positions. I’d wager that 90% of the time KP doesn’t believe what she says on The Factor. She’s a radical liberal with enough sense to realize that her core beliefs are not in line with mainstream American values, hence the facade.

To conservatives, KP is a microcosm of the conservative struggle to wise up liberals. Her conversion has been slow, but steady. She occasionally has her emotional backslides in to liberal crazy thinking, but she always redeems her self later with a completely rational response like the one referenced in this thread.

Not too long ago the Democratic party was actually called the big tent and allowed people that were pro military and pro life within the party. Sadly those days are gone. While I’m not a huge Bush supporter nor do I care greatly about the GOP party it is the best of the two at the moment. I personally think that the GOP has been pushed too far left by the globalist CEO’s and the Dems have been push to far towards stalin’s dream by the likes of Moveon.org and Soros.

This IMO explains why both the GOP and left fear a person like Thompson because he speaks to the vast majority of Americans who are proud of our country, who want to defend our country, and who believe that our founding documents are as fresh today as the day they were written because they hold unassailable TRUTHS on man and on government.

KP is someone I respect simply because she does not follow the party line in lock step. ANYONE that follows their partyline in lockstep is not a true American.

Hate to break this to you, but the Democratic Party supported the Fairness Doctrine and abortion rights when KP was in diapers. So obviously it’s the same party. And Zell Miller? LOL. There isn’t a single issue where you could count him as being liberal or left-leaning. He’s a social, fiscal and foreign policy conservative. He was never a serious Democrat.

It’s especially funny hearing this from people who routinely claim that Lindsay Graham and John McCain are sell-outs and “not real conservatives”. Aren’t you tools the ones who are actually drumming people out of your party? Who even cares about Kirsten Powers? Would you even know who she was if not for the fact that Fox uses a push-over like her to represent the “liberal” point of view? She supported the initial invasion of Iraq, she supported Bush’s suspension of civil liberties and his torture amendments, she’s pro-life on abortion and embryonic stem cell research. The only reason she goes on Fox is to get air-time, not to defend any political party’s policies. You would be hard pressed to find an emptier suit in all of the cable media. She doesn’t make points or wage arguments. She sits there with a stupid smirk on her face and nods her head while Malkin talks.

Trust me, I’m not a Kirsten Powers fan. I’m even less happy about seeing my fellow conservatives fawn over her because of her appearance. As a member in good standing of the vast right-wing conspiracy, I can assure you she is no conservative. But I *do* recognize that she and I share some basic American values, and that as much as we may disagree, she is no moonbat. I miss guys like Tip O’Neill and Mario Cuomo, whom I could respect even in the midst of vehement disagreement. Kirsten is cut from the same cloth as those old-school Democrats, although she is regrettably still a Clinton supporter.

As for being a “Fox News Democrat,” you guys should welcome her willingness to represent an opposing viewpoint on Fox. If you believe in the marketplace of ideas (neo-Stalinists, of course, do not), then Kirsten is doing valuable work for the Democratic party by appearing on Fox. I’ve never heard anything remotely similar offered to conservative commentors on NPR, unless you count Cokie Roberts as “conservative” simply because she isn’t an outright commie.

It’s usually entertaining to have a liberal around here, but can you at least try to be a little more interesting? Basic standards count. If you don’t have anything more insightful to offer than, say, Rosie O’Donnell’s blog, people are better off just skipping your posts and going to Rosie O’Donnell’s blog.

Just to point you in the right direction, here are two easy things to avoid: Reflexively labeling people who disagree with you “stupid” (even if they are!), and the capslock key.
