It’s funny how you don’t seem to hear anything from NOW about the constant abuse and denigration of women in Muslim culture. You’d think that an organization that allegedly stands for women’s rights would be out fighting to change that. Oh, wait–that would require that they weren’t complete hypocrites.

Here, take it from a woman, we have more rights than we know what to do with. Use them wisely, and still remain feminine (not slutty), and I can’t find the losing side of any issue. Yes, things can always get better in any domain, but not by griping, only by doing.

Yeah, now NOW’s membership is at an abysmal low, and most women want nothing to do with thier quest to make every woman’s breadwinner uncle sam.

It goes on to give a watered-down definition of feminism, which would be akin to asking someone if you thought you were a skinhead if the definition of skinhead were “someone who supports the protection of traditional american culture from percieved negative cultural changes.”

Its standard liberal bile. If something has a negative connotation, just change how you spin it and reframe it as something else.

For instance, a modern day feminist is not defined as “someone who believes in the social, political, and economic equality of the sexes,” it is someone who believes that women work the equivalent of 16 (or 80) hours to men’s every 8 for the same pay [twice or ten times as hard], who believes the government is preferable to a man for monetary stability, and in general only talk about equality when they can twist numbers. For instance, in family law where rulings are overwhelmingly in favor of women and essentially strip men of their right to see their children, the feminists are mute. That isn’t the kind of “equality” they want. They want animal farm type equality, where “all genders are equal, but some genders are more equal than others.”

That is why no-one wants to be a feminist unless you redefine it as something it stopped being long, long ago. I support the women’s movement: specifically the era of Susan B. Anthony and women’s suffrage. There are already equal pay laws, and compared apples to apples women make the same as men. Feminism has now moved from a truly virtuous movement to a morally bankrupt arm of socialism, just like the Civil Rights Movement has morphed from bringing true equality to blacks to becoming an excuse for race-baiters like Sharpton and Jackson.

Few I doubt could dare to suggest that Margret Thatcher was anything less than a completely awesome individual. Most of us perhaps unlike Berlusconi have ever had the opportunity to consider the Iron Lady in terms of her sexuality.

Few would be the human beings that have ever lived that at some point in their life’s did not desire to be considered sexually attractive.

For most this is a short lived flicker across our minds, surrendered with a sigh and a heave of the chest.

A melancholy whimsy that drives our vanity on occasion, rarely satisfied, mostly resigned to acceptance that we are mediocre in that department.

Those of us who are the children of the Lion, those nations whose parent is the British Monarchy, America, Canada, Australia, we have inherited from our parent a Victorian sexual repression that even to this day is the cause of a very prudish attitude regarding sexuality.

It was not our civilization that produced the Karma Sutra, no our civilization produced the chastity belt. Many in Europe notably the French and the Italians seem to have cast off to a far greater degree their sexually repressive Victorian roots.

Berlusconi while expressing a respect for Mrs. Thacher most of us consider crude and vulgar has indeed cast Margret in a light which is in a disturbing manner quite flattering.

The Iron Lady not simply in terms of a powerful determined woman of principal and intellect, but as a woman of sexual desirability as well.

While we in the west prefer not to think of our leaders in terms of their sexuality, to deny them this basic aspect of their humanity is in a very real sense to deny them their humanity.

Yes indeed Margret Thatcher was a very sexy woman, would I put it in as crude of terms as Berlusconi has done…No, but neither would I ever consider denying that he is correct in his assessment, the woman was to quote Johnny Bravo…”All that and a bag of chips”…

Fragility, you keep posting “facts”, but I don’t think they mean what you think they mean.

As recently as the 1960′s, there were still states which wouldn’t allow a woman to buy land or a house, wouldn’t even let her apply for a loan or a credit card. There are many facets of life about which women are far better off than in the past generation. That doesn’t make feminism a good thing, and your linked article offers just such a distinction, but your blinders are able to tune that bit out, of course. Do you really believe, that the sort of fascistic feminism which denies Margaret Thatcher’s gender, has a positive value in the world?

Wow, you weren’t kidding about not changing. Feminists still think if they get anywhere in life it’s because they had to work “twice” or “ten times” as hard as a man would. They still want Big Brother to take the place of husband and daddy. That really crystalizes it for me, even though I had already thought feminists were throwbacks from the 60′s.

I wish I could say that Burlusconi wins the prize for “most stupid thing said about Margaret Thatcher.” But I still remember a newspaper opinion column from the Eighties. I wish I had clipped it so I could reference it. The column was written by a feminist. The feminist argued that, since Thatcher had gone to war in the Falkland Islands and done other things disagreeable to feminism, she was therefore not really a woman. Wow — Thatcher could bear and raise several kids, but was still “not a woman” in the eyes of feminists.

I doubt the Iron Lady would dignify Burlusconi’s remarks with even a hint that she’d heard of them.

You know… while I am extremely impressed with Margret Thatcher’s skill, and intelligent decision making…

It’s just creepy to have a woman reminicient of my grandmother referred to in sexual terms.
