Video: What do Stormtroopers do when they’re on leave? Update: More dancing Stormtroopers!

The same thing sailors did in those Gene Kelly/Frank Sinatra musicals, of course.

The times may change, my friends, but military culture stays reassuringly constant.

Update: A commenter below writes, “I see the rebels have a gay bomb too.”

Update: I think this is from the Star Wars Holiday Special. Predictably, it’s heinously awful.

I see the rebels have a gay bomb too.

boomer on July 3, 2007 at 8:08 AM

and with that the comments for this post should close…nothing else to say really.

Pilgrim on July 3, 2007 at 8:16 AM

Sorry boomer, but there is no way that Stormtrooper is gay. he dances WAY too badly to be anything but straight.

wearyman on July 3, 2007 at 8:29 AM

Its Rusty!

Good Lt on July 3, 2007 at 8:32 AM

Big cities are fairly predictable, the vast majority of people give the storm trooper a sideways glance and then proceed to ignore him. HA!

MCPO Airdale on July 3, 2007 at 8:33 AM

I wouldn’t be willing to dance like that without donning extensive body armor myself.

Frozen Tex on July 3, 2007 at 8:45 AM

When those people started dancing with him, was that planned? ‘Cause if it was ad libbed by a bunch of pedestrians, it was hilarious. Otherwise, meh.

I would probably walk as far away from him as possible, if I saw that on the street. Or I would pull out the camera…

mjk on July 3, 2007 at 8:57 AM

You notice he ran off the street when the light changed? Some Stormtrooper!

Attila (Pillage Idiot) on July 3, 2007 at 9:01 AM

I’ll take bets on whether or not he has stormtrooper overbite.

swami on July 3, 2007 at 9:12 AM

He had better be careful or vader will just remotely pinch his throat shut in disapproval. That is, if he doesn’t like his dancing, of course.

pb5000 on July 3, 2007 at 9:21 AM

I see the rebels have a gay bomb too.

boomer on July 3, 2007 at 8:08 AM

Besides the shape-shifter, were there any women on the dark side?

jeffNWV on July 3, 2007 at 9:22 AM

I would suspect that when they’re on leave they’d moonlight as security at podraces and such.

saint kansas on July 3, 2007 at 9:26 AM

I would love to do that.

TheSitRep on July 3, 2007 at 9:44 AM

I would love to do that.

TheSitRep on July 3, 2007 at 9:44 AM

What, moonlight at the pod races?

cmdrsubfleet on July 3, 2007 at 9:50 AM

Now… being retired Navy meself… I find the whold Gene Kelly / Frank Sinatra line a huge insult to sailors…

Stormtroopers are MARINES after all… of course they can’t dance.

GEEEZZZZZZ… don’t ya know nothing about the military?

Romeo13 on July 3, 2007 at 10:17 AM

Is that a womp rat in his pocket, or is he just happy to see me?

profitsbeard on July 3, 2007 at 10:18 AM

Is this the latest Japanese Military commercial? It goes well with the JMSDF ad:

clghitis on July 3, 2007 at 10:19 AM

I wish stormtroopers danced in my city :(
I would have totally been one of the ones to join him lol

Keli on July 3, 2007 at 10:26 AM

Allahpundit is such a Nerf hearder.

Mazztek on July 3, 2007 at 10:36 AM

If he wants music, how about Stormtroopers by Ted Nugent?

Bigfoot on July 3, 2007 at 10:37 AM

Hey, I see nothing gay about a dancing stormtrooper. I think it’s great that they can oppress the scum of the galaxy and still get their groove on. Where are the stormtroopers when you need them?

jihadwatcher on July 3, 2007 at 10:46 AM

I’m sorry I missed him…I’ve been here since the 27th. And I’m guessing the first bit in Akihibara was spontaneous. People seem to either clam up and sit quietly, or put on robot costumes or lolita dresses.

Damn, I’m going to miss Tokyo.

Asher on July 3, 2007 at 10:49 AM

Then I love those pedestrians. Well played, people, well played.

I think I have better dance moves than that Stormtrooper. And I do the “white girl overbite” when I dance!

Isn’t this Danny Choo?

He’s got a Darth Vader costume now. Works for Microsoft, moonlights as the Dark Lord of the Sith.

CTDeLude on July 3, 2007 at 11:32 AM

With every video he posts Allah seems to confirm his inner geek.

Then again, I keep confirming my inner geek just by watching them. :)

The Emperor will not be pleased when he learns of this, not pleased at all.

Looked planned to me.

Didja notice that except for the first group most of the people just stepped back to watch.

Lawrence on July 3, 2007 at 12:19 PM

Oh, thanks a lot, boomer. Ruin it for the rest of us by posting the best comment EVAR!!!

Frozen Tex on July 3, 2007 at 8:45 AM

The mask is a must have as well!

IrishEyes on July 3, 2007 at 1:33 PM

Was that John Edwards?

right2bright on July 3, 2007 at 2:35 PM

I hate to admit that I recognize the people in the 2nd vid, but umm. That’s Donney and Marie Osmond.

- The Cat

MirCat on July 3, 2007 at 2:37 PM

That was the Osmonds in the second video? Damn…my quip on that one was going to be: How many careers did that musical ruin?

Nice catch on Mara Jade..now for Super Star Wars dork status: What role did she play in the Empire? She was….the Emperor’s Hand! No, that’s not meant to sound dirty. It’s supposed to be scary.

austinnelly on July 3, 2007 at 3:40 PM

Yikes! Looks like Kris Kristofferson as Han Solo in the second video. Equal to Carrie Fisher singing in the 1978 holiday special…

clghitis on July 3, 2007 at 3:42 PM

That second vid was the creme of entertainment when America still got its movie and music entertainment from pleasant, all-American things, like kitschy science fiction, instead of the low-brow violent Tarantino trash and hiphop gangbangers that infest every awards show today.

jihadwatcher on July 3, 2007 at 5:01 PM

Mircat, I’m so glad I’m not the only one who recognized that Donnie and Marie Show clip…

sulla on July 3, 2007 at 5:38 PM

I heard recently that Jacen Solo killed Mara Jade? Why?

wearyman on July 3, 2007 at 8:29 AM

Ok so maybe that first one was not fabulous but, the second one?

Here are some troopers that were clear of ground zero.

boomer on July 3, 2007 at 10:58 PM

How about the Dancing Cylon?

Vic on July 4, 2007 at 3:38 AM

I’ll take bets on whether or not he has stormtrooper overbite.

swami on July 3, 2007 at 9:12 AM

Excellent “When Harry Met Sally” reference, swami.

“These aren’t the droids we’re looking for…Move along, move along…And a-one, and a-two, and kick and turn…”

Captain Scarlet on July 4, 2007 at 8:46 AM

I love Star Wars, but that was bad. LOL.

Mircat, I’m so glad I’m not the only one who recognized that Donnie and Marie Show clip…

I don’t remember that particular clip, but I do remember the show. Good times!

TimboJackson on July 4, 2007 at 9:19 AM

If you look at the end of the video it’s clearly the Osmonds, not the SW Holiday Special.
