What I believe Blair will succeed in is helping the Palestinians develop a more controlled, democratic form of government that can one day lead to peace between Palestine and Israel.

Decider? that to me is a pipe dream hidden behind rose colored glasses. I simply don’t see ANY diplomatic solution to the Middle East problem that doesn’t end in a VERY large BOOM coming from either Iran or a new Coup government from the Pakis.

GOD….I hope you’re right,but I sincerely doubt it.

Okay, some already stole my thunder on wanting to recommend Blair for a VP slot (I was thinking more “Giuliani/Blair” as the go-to anti-terrorism tag team), but can we not at least begin a movement to invite him to speak at the ‘08 GOP Convention? Sometimes it takes hearing someone deliver the same message dressed up in a distinguished accent to cut through the muddle.

(And speaking of dressed up, I liked that natty pink tie you were sporting, Mr. PM. Now we know you’re fearless.)

Sorry, Blitz, I never read your earlier comment, therefore mine was not tied to yours. However, I think Blair will prove to be influential. In the end, I don’t believe the middle east crisis will really be resolved in our lifetime as long as terrorist groups control Palestine and insist on the destruction of Israel – a hopeless cause. What I believe Blair will succeed in is helping the Palestinians develop a more controlled, democratic form of government that can one day lead to peace between Palestine and Israel. I know it seems a lofty goal for Blair, but I believe it’s possible, and I believe he has the skills to pull it off.

I also am a Blair fan,But I sincerely doubt he can have any effect in his new position. I never meant OR implied that his “hands were dirty”. All I meant was that I think the new PM sent him to a place that he couldn’t do any harm to the British Caliphate.

It’s like Bush appointing Bolton to the UN…WE(the people) liked it,the politicos HATED it….

Blair wasn’t perfect, but after reading this morning about Gordon Brown’s ban on the use of the term “Muslim” in connection to terror plots, I already miss him as British Prime Minister. The UK has been one of our staunchest allies in the war against radical Islam, and if this is what we can expect from Mr. Brown over the next several years, I don’t feel very encouraged.

I love Monty Python humor. Seriously, Blair is a unique voice among so many who simply dole out droll platitudes like coins in a laundromat. I think Blair will also prove unique in his new role. The man is a sharp-witted, accomplished diplomat and I’m not buying in to the argument that his hands are too dirty from the Iraq war to have credibility in the Middle East.

Looks like Blair was the kind of leader Britain needs at this time, but he couldn’t do much in office because of the rampant PC at Downing St. and in the House of Commons. Now he can afford to be blunt because he’s out of office. Which is a crying shame. Well, at least the laws passed after 7/7 made it easier for the authorities to catch the doctor jihadis. That’s the only good thing that happened under Blair.

What an excellent conversation. Now, if only we could get the left leaners to listen to this and force them to stay on task and not start an Ad-Hominem attack to obsfuscate what the real issues are, we could possibly make some progress. Personally, I don’t really see what’s so hard to understand either. I think mostly, the Left is just too scared of conflict to fight for what is right, but to always try to take the easy (in the short term that is) way out.
