This is why I scoff at threats that we’re going to bounce those who voted for amnesty with primary challenges. If we had any power to get rid of incumbents, don’t you think we would have sent this tool packing decades ago?

We almost did, and would have, had Bush and Santorum not gone to bat for him. Why do you think so many conservatives refused to vote to re-elect Santorum in 06?

Not trying to hijack the thread, but a couple points while I’ve got a few minutes.

This exercise was very enlightening and there are some things that came out that we need to address in the short term:

1) Senate offices turned off phones, FAX machines, allowed voice mail and email to fill up, were rude to callers, berated the public on blogs (did I leave anything out?). We need to make it clear to them they must do a far better job of listening to the American people.

2) We saw that there are some bad rules lurking in the dark corners of the senate that allow abuse of power by the majority leader. We need to be adament that those rules be abolished.

3) Just because the bad rules are there, doesn’t mean you have to use them. Reid should be censured for his abuse of power on this issue.

4) After all this we still have serious border problems that are a national security and economic issues. We need enforcement now.

I totally agree “db”

And furthermore, we should come together somehow. We “conservative bloggers” could Vote on certain core issues; only those bloggers who are registered either with HA/MM/ and other affiliated blogs who share our core beliefs could vote on the issue, a SPECIAL POLL/POLLS for instance – that way we would have a larger pool of votes. Then we all know what to slam our Senators phones, FAX machines, voice mail and email with – “in a concerted effort”

For instance the #1 issue IMHO closing the Border completely “end to end” could be the first thing we hammer them with.

As the issue of the “Fairness Doctrine” comes up then we pounce on that one, that’s a given.

Other options you mentioned could be jammed down their throats simultaneously

a)They must do a far better job of listening to the American people
b)Enforcement of current laws
c)Reid should be censured for his abuse of power on this illegal immigration issue

If we could get our heads together, similarly to what just occurred with Shamnesty – then anything is possible. I think the POLLS would be a good reminder not only to keep everyone on the same page, but moving ahead together so that over time we don’t lose our momentum.

Just sayin’

KUDOS to all who put forth effort to help kill this god awful POS bill &)

Two ways I can approach my senator about a bill vote.....

Vote no.

Vote yes.

If he wants the bill, anything opposite of that is objection. If he doesn't want the bill, anything opposite is objection.

So what he IS saying is that the more people call in to object, the more people REALLLLLLY agree.

These guys are the kings of double speak.

Sometime this year it hit me the reason Bush pulled out the big guns to get Specter re-elected was to position him for the amnesty battle. Specter would hold a ranking position to control the moves on an amnesty bill. Especially if the GOP had held Congress

Paranoia? Bush flattened a great up and coming candidate to shove in a RINO who seemed the opposite of the overtly evangelical, conservative Bush. Except on amnesty they obviously had the same goals.

I have never thought Bush was stupid. He knows how to bluff. He doesn't have to anymore. The lame duck can afford to show his feathers. He has been working like a dickens to merge America and Mexico for some time now and he doesnt want to bother convincing the complainers.

The question I still have: is he naive, or is he just another globalist without borders?

His Dad did not have trouble with the no new taxes line. Is Bush just another, Bush?

Sometime this year it hit me the reason Bush pulled out the big guns to get Specter re-elected was to position him for the amnesty battle. Specter would hold a ranking position to control the moves on an amnesty bill. Especially if the GOP had held Congress

Paranoia? Bush flattened a great up and coming candidate to shove in a RINO who seemed the opposite of the overtly evangelical, conservative Bush. Except on amnesty they obviously had the same goals.

Not so. Hunter, Huckabee, Tacredo, Thompson all have specifically commented on the bad interpretation of the 14th Amendment that allows anchor babies.

So, let me get this straight…..if the calls are against a bill he votes for it and if the calls are for a bill he votes against it?

Not exactly. He is just setting the stage to be able to have it both ways. He isn't claiming that he votes the opposite of the incoming responses to legislation, but that nearly ALL responses are because people oppose something, so he doesn't have to take that into account if he doesn't want to.

The 'arrogant' comment remains valid, though. He is that, and so much more.

Senator Arlen Specter’s comments prior to the Immigration cloture vote were a despicable display of his elitism.

First, he asked the Senators who had not made their minds about voting for cloture to muster up their “courage” and vote aye. This, of course, implied that if they didn’t vote for cloture – they were cowards.

Second, he once again reiterated a statement so often heard by his fellow elitists in the Senate that “we know what’s best for the American people”.

Third, in reference to the calls the Senators were receiving not to vote for cloture, he said that in his experience these type of callers were nothing more than “nay sayers”. This was a profound statement in that it showed his complete disgust for the American people and their desires.

Finally, Specter is the Senate’s contrarian. He was voted in as a Republican, but votes like a Democrat. I hope that the voters in Pennsylvania, after seeing his appalling demeanor during the immigration debate, will have second thoughts about returning him to the Senate the next election.

I moved from Baltimore and the insane government and those that automatically pulled anything that had a "D" in front to PA to find that the old farts up here almost do the same damn thing. We have massive voter fraud in Phili and probably Tittsburg to to supplement the retards in Congress today.

I was boiling mad that Boosh favored Spicter over Toomey so I was hinted then of El Predsidente's real character, Liberal.

We had a fine Republican Senator, Rick Santorum, and the idiot voters stayed home to let the Dems install the "Empty Suit, Casey.

Damn dumb bastards simply won't take the hint, 80% of it, no new legislation required.
