I’ll repeat myself: I explained this in the other thread and countless more on this site. Now how about you, still standing by the notion that marijuana is more dangerous than alcohol? Any proof to back up your baseless claims that isn’t secondhand (my friends are dumb and they smoke marijuana)? Even the government can’t find a link between marijuana use and mental capacity, amazing you’ve found one.

It’d be a kindness to say that you are oblivious to what’s going on because your brained is fried from drug use, but you protest that your faculties are intact.
So on what humanitarian grounds are you going to ignore the plight of Third World children with nothing that you have to keep yourself fat, sassy, entertained and comfortable who are being picked up to be USED as bomb delivery systems by vicious Islamofascists?

You can objectively judge someone’s “faculties” when the calculator for them is Grade Point Average; you don’t need to rely on the drug-user’s opinion.

Off the top of my head alcohol consumption can kill you, marijuana conception cannot, Fetal Alcohol Syndrome is a direct cause of pregnant women drinking too much alcohol, THC does not cause any damage to the fetus, and now let me link you to the National Institute on Drug Abuses own website (an anti-marijuana use site): here. The only conclusive evidence there is that smoking marijuana causes lung problems (as do cigarettes). They mention animal studies that show a weakening in the immune system, though no evidence regarding humans. They also mention cancer, but by their own admission they aren’t “sure whether regular marijuana use causes cancer.” Alcohol on the other hand is far more dangerous, and the fact that you’d even claim it (in whatever quantity) to not be as dangerous as marijuana is laughable. Tommy Chong has done a hell of a lot more than marijuana, to blame his perceived stupidity by you on his usage of marijuana (which may I remind you the NIDA can’t even prove to cause long term memory lossage) is one hell of a stretch.

The big mystery is why the editors and producers wanted to fill the expensive TV programming time with his incoherent rambling rather than an actual authority on the subject at hand (immigration).

I happen to know who he was and can’t stand his airhead songs, but there are 6 billion people out there and astonishingly! most have never heard of the guy – count them in the billions – and the number is growing as the years pass. Lennon was nothing historically – a musician of the fading past 60ies Western, Rock genre (Western as in in Anglophone). So, to assume that the whole world lives as you do and has access to the same information as you alone, is indeed ethnocentric. You can’t believe that people don’t know who Lennon is, so that confirms a narrow comprehension of the world out there. A suggestion, just go out and find out what’s out there. Nothing more tricky than that to be more informed.

No, it’s not. That’s a fact. People can drink one to two glasses of wine or beer every day for their long, long lives and never have a problem, in fact even the Apostle Paul counselled a little wine to soothe the digestion. The Bible decries drunkness, but not a glass or two of fine wine. Jesus himself produced an outstanding supply, his first recorded miracle. Therefore, alcohol in moderate quantities has been recognized for several thousand years as being helpful and enjoyable. Yes, one can overdo it, but even water in overabundance is dangerous.
In contrast, regarding pot, (not counting medical studies that are available), I base my opinion on personal observation: I had the informative privilege to closely observe a group of people smoke pot at least once, sometimes twice a day for a semester and can firmly attest that they were dumber at the the end of the semester than when they started, and the dumbness scarily didn’t improve over time; they were permanently dumber. One fellow of this bunch had landed a job with a lobster fishing boat – weirdly, not long after, the boat sank. Someone forgot to close the seacock before they left port. Let’s see, a boat with three experienced crew and the new hire, unbeknownst to them, a pothead. He and his fellow travelers started honest enough at the start of the semester, but by the end of it had became persona non grata at the local supermarkets for shoplifting.
Their decision-making went from so-so to stupid, petty criminal. Their sense of right and wrong became mushier – they took shortcuts and made pathetic dodges to cover try to cover the mistakes they were making. It was a large enough sampling of people to be able to say that the effects were the same for all of them.
Tellingly, they did not think anything was wrong. They thought they were fine and couldn’t understand why they were having so many problems. Me, the aghast observer, moved out at the first opportunity – before the bunch managed to get us all either ignominiously evicted or burned out of the house.

Ted has always been about classic rugged individualism, and hates socialism with a passion. He’s a patriot from the classic mold. He’s a nutcaseeccentric in some personal areas, but nobody’s perfect.

Er…thats a bit of a sticking point most of us conservative would like to pretend doesn’t exist…After the Mexican American war when the United States purchased the southwest from Mexico we did sign a treaty with Mexico granting Mexican citizens Free right of passage.

It was done because there were several million Mexican citizens who literately became American citizens overnight who still had families in Mexico. So we agreed to their free right of passage so that they could visit their families any time they wanted to.

However also to be fair that free right of passage was never intended to allow tens of millions of Mexicans to illegally enter this country and take up semi-permanent or permanent residency.

Reggae music is far from a well-known music genre in this country. It’s enough if Americans know the most famous man who played it.
