Video: Mike Gravel — the outtakes
posted at 10:50 am on June 27, 2007 by Allahpundit
Via Ben Smith. It’s about as predictable as the JibJab thing and heavily indebted, shall we say, to Grandpa Simpson, but the absurdity of a cartoon version of Gravy staring searchingly into the camera did, I confess, produce the desired effect.
Here’s the original, in case you missed it. The first Republican candidate to parody these spots wins not only my vote, but my heart.

That slaughters me.

I really needed that laugh.
chip91 on June 27, 2007 at 11:00 AM
So so funny. The only part that didn’t parrot reality was that Gravel sounded rational.
Dusty on June 27, 2007 at 11:01 AM
That was easily the funniest parody that’s been on Hot Air in a while.

He just lost PETA’s support.

Funny, but it could use a swearing baby.

That was great. LOL.

That made me feel so much better.
Then again, the actual campaign video made me laugh just because of the crossed eyes. Hee hee.

Following the link, the first thing I read is…
Wow. That’s all I can say. Are you the same Chip that posted that?
Ahem. The Democrats “are” not stronger on immigration. And, IMO, these “Republicans” in the Senate are not really Republicans. They are sell-outs and RINOs. Therefore, the 11th Commandment can, in this particular instance, be ignored.
What are you doing on MM’s 2nd blog if you think she’s an idiot?
HYTEAndy on June 27, 2007 at 12:29 PM
I forgot to mention that, yes, you’re right, “they’re” worse.
HYTEAndy on June 27, 2007 at 12:39 PM
I can’t wait till the next parody video, where he burns down the forest.
Kini on June 27, 2007 at 1:38 PM
Truly funny.
It’d be a little tough to parody something as boringly stupid as those first videos. Perhaps a little MST3K style commentary would work. Not much material.
TexasDan on June 27, 2007 at 1:59 PM
That was great. I thought it was Mige Judge-like. The movements were similar to KOTH.
PowWow on June 27, 2007 at 3:42 PM
Now that’s comedy.

Ohh that was great. Quack.

Ducks? I’m having Doonsbury flashbacks.

That was truly classic.
Question: Where’s the laughing dog?
BKennedy on June 28, 2007 at 12:49 AM
My first thought as well. He could maybe get some of his credibility back if he produced a real outtake that had him questioning the whole point of the “artistic” spot.
Can’t expect too much from Chip, he attends a public high school in NY. If either of my kids’ grammar resembled that, it’d be a bad day for them.
