Ann
She is blunt and to the point I do like that she is supporting Duncan Hunter.

Oh no.

I still can’t hate the man. I am convinced the taint of Washington D.C. is just too strong.

Moreover, I just can’t bring myself to start agreeing with all the idiot BDS morons of the world.

Not gonna do it.

reaganaut on June 26, 2007 at 11:10 PM

Hard to disagree with that sentiment right now.

let’s tally up the last month shall we:

1) Shamnesty
2) Wants to engage the Muslim Brotherhood
3) Wants to close club Gitmo
4) Pumping money into fatah

And that’s just off the top of my head.

That about sums up my disillusionment as well. I don’t dislike him personally, but I have grown very disappointed over his decisions on just about every subject.

thedecider on June 26, 2007 at 11:16 PM

I LOVE HER!

JayHaw Phrenzie on June 26, 2007 at 11:17 PM

Tax cuts, Roberts/Alito, GWOT determination.

If there weren’t so many other significant issues about which he has failed to act or acted in a failing manner, it’d be all good.

The globalist agenda, which IS what drives him towards amnesty, has fogged his mind against all rational behavior on this issue.

Freelancer on June 26, 2007 at 11:19 PM

you go ann. you go.

wryteacher on June 26, 2007 at 11:19 PM

In spite of the anti-Coulter bent around here, I’ve always liked what she says and how she says it. She isn’t a politician, she’s a commentator, so she’s free to use hyperbole. But she definitely gets your attention.

Freelancer on June 26, 2007 at 11:21 PM

I’ve said it before. I’ve defended him for a long time. I can’t do it anymore.

Can I get an ‘Amen’?

PRCalDude on June 26, 2007 at 11:24 PM

Republicans aren’t leaving Bush, Bush left the republicans. I voted for Bush twice, needless to say I am very disappointed.
I’m not going to do anything as drastic like vote for a democrat, but I am changing my party to Independent. We can only hope that one of the republican candidates (Fred! Rudy!) can clean up this mess

Keli on June 26, 2007 at 11:25 PM

Ann Coulter certainly hits the mark between the eyes. Like it or not she is right in her remark.

omegaram on June 26, 2007 at 11:26 PM

Ann is one smart lady.

csdeven on June 26, 2007 at 11:28 PM

Agreed, Ann.

You know, if I were answering the Rasmussen polls, I would have been in the “Somewhat approve” camp for the past few months regarding President Bush.

With amnesty, I have, for the first time in his entire term of office, moved into the “Somewhat disapprove” column, and it is the War on Terror alone that has prevented me from completely disowning him.

Damian G. on June 26, 2007 at 11:28 PM

off topic just a little

This is how it works the more people Corporate America has to hire the less they need to pay in wages. This is why Bush Kennedy McCain want a guess worker program, so not to upset there cash cow. Who’s America is it The Government working for the Government and only the Government. For gods sakes in Sacramento CA last week they voted them selves a 5% pay increase that is so screwed up on so many levels.

American8298 on June 26, 2007 at 11:33 PM

I presume those of you changing your registration to Independent live in states with an open primary??? Otherwise you are just limiting yourself in terms of being able to take action against RINO Republicans in a primary challenge?

I have never voted for a Democrat and don’t expect I ever will. I am as disappointed in Bush as I have been with any politician I can remember. But I have no plans of leaving the Republican party. I also have no plans of giving any money to the Republican party. Just because people with questionable judgment have joined the party does not mean I have to leave. It’s up to people like me to show THEM the door…

First on the list – Senator Mel Martinez. I cannot wait to contribute to his primary challenger and vote for that person.

Weber48IDA on June 26, 2007 at 11:34 PM

Yeah, thank God he got Roberts and Alito right, although it took the Miers debacle to get to Alito

In North Carolina, party permits an “unaffiliated” to chose a primary and vote in it. So, I’ve lost nothing since I put on my SCUBA gear and jumped off the sinking Good Ship Rino.

No joke. Our florida representatives have become jokes. I still curse Harris for running in 2006. We could have had that damn seat if she had stayed in the house. And we could have had more house seats too, but her being in the election cost us big. I hate her.

lorien1973 on June 26, 2007 at 11:43 PM

Hell, I may just have some fun and vote in the DEM primary for giggles.

A vote for Shiny Pony, when he ain’t got a prayer, is a moment’s amusement for me.

Absolutely right here. Now is the time to stand fast and work hard to replace the fat cat Senators who are above the will of the people. I am in Florida so I think Martinez has to go. There is a congressman in Tampa who is a hopeful but young.

sonnyspats1 on June 26, 2007 at 11:44 PM

Oh…and AMEN, Miss Coulter, Amen!

I’ll not argue with anyone dissing Bush again. Not worth it.

tickleddragon on June 26, 2007 at 11:45 PM

I just remember another great line she had tonight. She said, Bush is indeed a uniter. We are all now united in wanting him gone (I am paraphrasing) – LOL!

TheBigOldDog on June 26, 2007 at 11:50 PM

Oh come on… Ann had plenty of positive things to say about Bush in the course of the interview. The war, Social Security, et.al.

Why do you guys dislike her? I think she’s amazing and yes, she’s a bomb thrower at times, but sometimes the truth HAS to be explosive in order to be heard.

There is plenty of room on the right for Ann Coulter, Michelle Malkin, Laura Ingraham… they all bring something fresh and unique to the conversation.

Now you guys are obviously pro Laura (and I agree!), but she essentially told Tony Snow the other day that everyone thinks the White House (i.e. the President and Snow) are not telling the truth on their pledge to secure the border. No call-out on Laura for essentially calling the President a liar, at worst, or a weakling, at best.

Bryan… someone here… Michelle… anyone — why do you dislike Ann so much? You guys are all pretty much in step on your views.

Damian G. on June 26, 2007 at 11:28 PM

Agreed. Actually, I moved from “somewhat approve,” to not being in the middle, not sure if I approve or disapprove of his handling of the office, when he wouldn’t pardon those 2 border patrol agents.

He’s just sealed the deal with this senate bill.

HYTEAndy on June 27, 2007 at 12:01 AM

Actually I don’t dislike her, but I think people like to keep their distance because she “goes too far”. I think what she does is, says out loud, what a lot of people are thinking, but would never say out loud.

HYTEAndy on June 27, 2007 at 12:03 AM

lorien1973 on June 26, 2007 at 11:59 PM

But see that’s OK by me because for the last 6 years we have stood by while the left has called us murderers, terrorists, etc. and the “gentlemanly” republicans just took it… and never fought back. And look where it has gotten us — a Democratic majority in Congress and a bunch of weaklings left on the Republican side. Good for Ann. These people are absolutely awful and she’s right on to nail them for it.

D2Boston on June 27, 2007 at 12:04 AM

How else are you supposed to wake sleeping people?
I guess osmosis or some other from of getting a message across might work.

American8298 on June 27, 2007 at 12:07 AM

Ann’s message is lost in her grenade tossing. Even if she makes a good point, she ruins it by name calling or whatever. It doesn’t serve a useful purpose.

a Democratic majority in Congress and a bunch of weaklings left on the Republican side.

Fighting back is not name calling. R’s in DC are whimps because they never follow through on things or won’t play hardball like the Ds will. They are too worried about how they’ll look in the short term. And that’s a losing fight

lorien1973 on June 27, 2007 at 12:10 AM

Ann Coulter is extremely successful. Apparently many people like her. I like her and appreciate her style 99% of the time. She gets a point across unapologetically.

Anybody who thinks that the Retardicans have a good strategy becoming the wimps that they have…

CCRWM on June 27, 2007 at 12:11 AM

Ann is very intelligent and is convinced she is right (I think she is too). Her views in her mind are crystal clear and when that is the case it can be somewhat annoying to have to deal with idiocy. Ann combines a biting, fierce sense of humor with an equal amount of frustration for having to explain obvious truths to stupid people. Ann has no patience for stupid people and unfortunately neither to I. Unfortunately I am also not as smart as Ann.

This immigration bill hysteria is getting out of control. The GOP is imploding in a spasm of radicalism and it will be out in the wilderness for many years if this does not stop.

Baphomet on June 27, 2007 at 12:26 AM

Ann’s message is lost in her grenade tossing.

Lorien — I disagree. It’s not lost. The left will do all it can to bury it as we have seen by the aborted GMA clip now running on Edwards’ website and the resulting cacophany of hysteria from people who “can’t believe what she said.” That intellectually dishonest and, quite frankly, LAZY. If people are too stupid to listen to what’s being expressed, too bad. She has every right to say the things she does.

D2Boston on June 27, 2007 at 12:28 AM

I, an ex-windy city guy, love it when Ann tosses out one of her ‘grenades’. If these whiny politicians cannot take the heat then they should go back home to mama. Thank GOD for free speech[sp]!

IMHO, only people who have never told another person to frack off should rush to judgement on Ann’s antics, or to put it bluntly, don’t be hypocritical.

DannoJyd on June 27, 2007 at 12:32 AM

Baphomet, STFU. This is just as much about democracy as it is amnesty now. The fact that this bill can be vehemently opposed 75% by the public and they’re still trying to ram it through, and with the shady tactics being used to pass it? Doesn’t that concern you? At all?

Bad Candy on June 27, 2007 at 12:32 AM

One more thing… I am new to the site (thank you Michelle, Bryan, et. al. for opening registration again), so I am a little clumsy with highlighting other quotes, authors, etc., so please bear with me while I stumble through it. I’ll catch on eventually. :-)

NAFTA
Any sitting President of the United States of America can take this treaty and burn it. Tariffs on imported goods need to be enforced in order to bring manufacturing back to the continental United States. That is step one next you go vigorously after employers that hire people in the United States of America illegally and you through them in prison and liquidate there company after the third offence. Enforcement throw artesian is all that is needed.

Baphomet on June 27, 2007 at 12:26 AM

Is that what securing our borders and enforcing our laws is characterized as these days? Radicalism? There are two big problems in this country as it relates to this issue. 1) the millions of people here illegally and their enablers, and 2) people like me that have been asleep while this problem got worse and worse. I am finished with moving to another area because where I live feels like a foreign country.

I will make no apologies to people that don’t respect the sovereignty and laws of my country. That includes the President who is bound by the Constitution to enforce those laws, employers who enable these law-breakers, and people (perhaps like you) that find it easier to fancy themselves “enlightened” even as their country is slipping away. And yes, that may be a run-on sentence and I don’t particularly care.

Weber48IDA on June 27, 2007 at 12:53 AM

Why conservatives ever liked Bush is beyond me. I voted for him in the last two elections, but only because my other choices were Gore or Kerry.

Look at the prescription medicine plan, or no child left behind and tell me what is so conservative about Bush. Bush has overseen the largest expansion of the federal government ever. His only saving grace is that the expansion would have been even greater under either Democrat that ran against him.

If it wasn’t for 9/11 there is a good chance Bush would have been a one term president. Without the War on Terror there is almost nothing to distinguish him from a Democrat.

I helped campaign for Newt Gingrich back in the 80’s before I got gerrymandered out of his district. I haven’t had much use for any of the RNC national leadership since Reagan was in office. They have been selling out the rank and file for a very long time now. Nothing Bush does is any big surprise to me. So yeah, I would have to back Ann up on this.

Buford on June 27, 2007 at 12:54 AM

Ann throws grenades because for 50 years our side didn’t, while the Dems used every dirty tricks and slander they could come up with with impunity. She has hit upon the notion that the Dems can’t take what they dish out, and she’s been proven right.

papabryant on June 27, 2007 at 12:55 AM

Talon on June 27, 2007 at 12:55 AM

People, let’s not delude ourselves. Both Roberts and Alito are reasonable moderates–which look like conservatives next to the raving lunatics who happen to also be wearing the black robes. There are only three actual conservative types on the Supreme bench. Not that I’m complaining–too much.

But it wasn’t a victory, it was a wash–which is the best we can hope for until Teddy’s aneurism finally kicks off. George is right on the GWOT and taxes; but otherwise, he’s got major problems. The border issue is the pinnacle of it.

As I’ve saidbefore, George: You CAN’T out-pander the democrats. You won’t win new (R) voters with this shamnesty.

I think the Half-Hour-News-Hour got it right: Limbaugh/Coulter in ‘08.

The Ugly American on June 27, 2007 at 1:00 AM

It’s really sad, but the longer this goes on the more I am disgusted with the GOP and the President. Not to the point of changing my party affiliation, but I certainly won’t be donating to the RNC.

I agree with a whole lot of what’s already been said and don’t have a lot to add, but as a newbie if I can ask a question…

With so much of the Republican base against this, after what already happened in the 2006 elections… WHY are Senate Republicans pulling this crap? What’s the point, other than patting themselves on the back out of some misguided notion that they’ve done something good?

salmonczar on June 27, 2007 at 1:02 AM

I came to the same conclusion as Ann a few weeks ago. We do that a lot you know…come to the same conclusion. I think she’d make me a darn fine wife, but I digress! Anyways I voted for the guy both times and with this whole deal I’m finally starting to regret it. Then again, who the heck else was I supposed to vote for?

nationspatriotcom on June 27, 2007 at 1:15 AM

Ann represents well the position most of us came from and where nearly all of us are now.

Even when a huge number of Americans oppose it, if this horrid immigration bill can be forced on us, what’s next?

Nuclear disarmament maybe?

United Nations gaining some semblance of control?

Is anything NOT possible in an immoral, corrupted and mismanaged Senate?

Why was the 2nd amendment 2nd?

American8298 on June 27, 2007 at 1:30 AM

“There are those in America today who have come to depend absolutely on government for their security. And when government fails they seek to rectify that failure in the form of granting government more power. So, as government has failed to control crime and violence with the means given it by the Constitution, they seek to give it more power at the expense of the Constitution. But in doing so, in their willingness to give up their arms in the name of safety, they are really giving up their protection from what has always been the chief source of despotism—government. Lord Acton said power corrupts. Surely then, if this is true, the more power we give the government the more corrupt it will become. And if we give it the power to confiscate our arms we also give up the ultimate means to combat that corrupt power. In doing so we can only assure that we will eventually be totally subject to it.” —Ronald Reagan

Speakup on June 27, 2007 at 1:38 AM

I don’t see how anybody can give GW a pass on this and I don’t care what else he has done or is doing. It is not like he is differing with his base by proposing a 5% tax hike or even pushing for 2nd amendment concessions. He and his cronies are out to radically change the very nature and landscape of America. They are offering demographic suicide, political neutering, a globalist agenda and ultimately completely undermining the middle class. As a matter of fact what he and all the proponents of this amnesty travesty are pushing will have a very detrimental effect on your family and progeny for a long time to come and may effectively destroy our country.

“[I]t doesn’t require expropriation or confiscation of private property or business to impose socialism on a people. What does it mean whether you hold the deed or the title to your business or property if the government holds the power of life and death over that business or property? Such machinery already exists. The government can find some charge to bring against any concern it chooses to prosecute. Every businessman has his own tale of harassment. Somewhere a perversion has taken place. Our natural, inalienable rights are now considered to be a dispensation of government, and freedom has never been so fragile, so close to slipping from our grasp as it is at this moment.” —Ronald Reagan

What I love about Ann more than anything else is that she drives the libs around the bend better even than Rush can. The left absolutely despises her and becomes (even more) unhinged at the very mention of her name.

So what if she’s over the top now and again? It’s what she does, and she does it well.

I used to really like Ann Coulter. I still agree with her political positions 95% of the time; but like a lot of you, I think her style has become a little too over the top.

Michelle’s style hits the perfect note with me, Has since the first time I saw her on Fox a few years ago. Ann used to be at about the same point, just not quite as much class. But now, I think she goes a little too far for my taste, and I find it irritating.

That said:
Ann’s current style; (a verbal ‘2X4 upside the head‘) is NECESSARY for communicating with the MTV generation. Subtlty is lost on them. Presenting facts and putting them in context just isn’t going to work with people that have a 20 second attention span.

She may give the left some ammunition… But it is the wrong caliber for their spitwad shooters, so it really isn’t going to come back and hurt us in the long run.

Halley on June 27, 2007 at 3:49 AM

We need more people like Ann Coulter on the right who will speak truth to people like Chris Mathews with no fear! Does she go too far some times? I don’t know, but I love it when she makes the left crazy!

Wow just in the last month or so I’ve been called a bigot, a racist and now a radical by people from my own political party just for asking they defend our borders and enforce our laws.

Moral relativism has certainly found a home in the GOP these days.

Be kind to Ann, we’re going to need her verbal bomb throwing very badly and soon.

Buzzy on June 27, 2007 at 5:13 AM

What makes Ann stronger than Michelle (on TV), is that Ann is no threat to take Chris’s, or anyone else’s commentary news seat. Michelle is so smart and charasmatic that she over shadows the host. Even OR limits her on his show, her rating are just too strong.
The sound bite comes from Ann, content and ratings come from Michelle.

I presume those of you changing your registration to Independent live in states with an open primary??? Otherwise you are just limiting yourself in terms of being able to take action against RINO Republicans in a primary challenge?

Not sure, but this I know; threatening calls to the RNC are met with a yawn, threats about future elections mean nothing, but if the RNC starts getting feedback about people re-regeristering as independents, it may finally have an impact. The President has succumbed to the same disease that appears to afflict everyone who spends to much time in the Emerald City.

Having watched the entire show, I can say that I really enjoyed Ann making little Chrissy M. mad. Ann certainly is abrasive at times but I think it is necessary. The Left has no problem throwing bombs like Obama did this weekend. So why is it bad that we have a bomb thrower of our own? As Papabryant said earlier, “…the Dems can’t take what they dish out…”

Also, I thought it was a cheap shot to have Mrs. Silky Pony call in while Ann was on to “politely” ask Ann to stop her negativity. Big deal! The only thing it did was show how shallow the Left is.

Finally. Thanks Speakup for the Reagan quotes. It sure was refreshing to read.

It’s always the choise of the lesser of two (or three) evils.
Gore and Kerry are both imbicils.
Bush is just a politician. Not very bright. Very out of touch. Very insulated.
Ann, we love ya. keep stirring the pot.
Being “nice” only gets your agenda defeated…nicely.
It’s time to be un-nice. The stakes are getting too high.

polokfla on June 27, 2007 at 8:01 AM

If elected President are we to believe that Silky will have his wife call Osama the next time we are attacked? I love Democratic logic!

sabbott on June 27, 2007 at 8:03 AM

Amen Ann. Amen.

And based on this amnesty bill, his pawning of Ramos and Compean and his handcuffing our troops in Iraq, I will NEVER vote for another Bush again!

NEVER!

She proves this over and over and over and over and over again.

I would like to consider myself a “Jacksonian” American.
You make a deal and you stick to it. You play straight. Negotiate hard, but strike hands only to a bargain that you can live with. Make an agreement, honor it, finish it. Betrayals, that is breaking the agreements, are not forgotten. Fight hard for what’s right.
In as much as the GOP is acting unJacksonian, fair play is important to Jacksonians. The Dems haven’t shown much evidence of Jacksonian qualities for a long time, anyway.
The Democrat stunt of switching parties for the primaries so that they could push McCain over Bush then switching back to Dems for the election seemed grossly offensive at the time. Didn’t believe it was right then and still don’t.

naliaka on June 27, 2007 at 8:24 AM

Hey, the Dems will take whatever advantage of Elizabeth Silky and her cancer that they can get away with. I put no shameless use of her past her husband and his ilk.

“The few people left who are NOT AFRAID, like Ann Coulter, need all the support they can get right now, given that wimpiness and “oh no, did I offend a concerned Democrat?!?” are all that passes for dialogue on the GOP side. Go, Ann – and stop holding back!”
Halley on June 27, 2007 at 3:49 AM

I agree. This is what happened to Bush. He tried so hard to appease the whimpering, limp-wristed left, that he became one of them.

Keli on June 27, 2007 at 8:34 AM

An earlier thread suggested replacing Cheney with Fred! I propose that we take a hint from the 1/2 Hour News Hour and replace him with Ann! That would be adequate comeuppance for GWB. Set a new tone in Washington starting with the White House.

kjspeedial on June 27, 2007 at 8:44 AM

She has a point, I can no longer support this President and only hope the remainder of his term goes by quickly.

Viper1 on June 27, 2007 at 8:49 AM

Ann does use a sledgehammer often when a tack hammer would do, but…..hard to disagree with her last night.

stringbean on June 27, 2007 at 9:08 AM

I gave a bravo to Laura, now I give one to Ann. Bravo Ann

srhoades on June 27, 2007 at 9:14 AM

Ann’s message is lost in her grenade tossing.

I’m reminded of that scene with (ugh) Danny Glover in Grand Canyon, where he tells the little gang banger, “You ain’t got that gun, we ain’t having this conversation.”

Ann’s message is Ann’s message. It just looks like a grenade to some people.

Actually Ann doesn’t throw bombs, she talks directly and rejects the censorship of political correctness. Most politicians, speakers, and writers fear speaking directly lest they raise the ire of the PC wagging finger. Our language, our freedom has been hijacked long ago by the PC monster. Sad that only skinny bleach blonde has the courage to stand up to this monster.

Rode Werk on June 27, 2007 at 9:19 AM

A lot of people just don’t like hearing strong opinions from anyone about anything. Act like you know what you’re talking about and someone will pull The Devil’s Advocate out of their ass.

Thus — Ann Coulter hate, even among conservatives. Ann doesn’t hit people with sledgehammers or tack hammers, she uses words, and often ridicule. Much more effective.

Can I get an ‘Amen’?

Amen Brother !

Hmmm…judging from the tone of this thread, it would seem
that AC has plenty of supporters…and I am one of them!
Her wit and discernment constantly entertains me as her
dissection of the left continues through barbed humor. They
have it coming, by the way!

izzatso on June 27, 2007 at 9:38 AM

Actually Ann doesn’t throw bombs, she talks directly and rejects the censorship of political correctness.

There’s a difference between being “not PC” and being unnecessarily insulting or inflammatory. While I agree with Ann’s sentiments in this particular case, I think that on the whole she’s far more useful as someone to whom the left can point at at say “See what jerks the conservatives are?” than she is as someone who can contribute to the public discourse in a constructive way.

Farmer_Joe on June 27, 2007 at 9:47 AM

…Ann is great. I am sorry about anything nice about Boooosh also.

Wade on June 27, 2007 at 9:55 AM

I am not removing my support for President Bush. He is still far better than the Dem alternatives, and he has done much for the moral conservative platform.

I love Ann, and she is my press secretary when I am elected President. Still, I won’t turn from the President.

I won’t defend his bad actions, and will criticize them, but, I am still glad he was the CiC on 9/11.
