When Hot Air Attacks: Muchas Gracias, Senor Graham!

posted at 12:47 pm on June 25, 2007 by Bryan

Mickey Kaus called for the unleashing of YouTube against pro-illegal alien amnesty senators. Sen. Lindsey “hissy fit” “we’re gonna tell the bigots to shut up” Graham seemed to be the obvious first choice, so here’s our anti-Graham attack for the 2008 election.

If you have any anti-amnesty attack ad concepts of your own, send them to us at tips at hotair dot com.

Excellent job with this ad, Bryan. Keep up the good work.

tickleddragon on June 25, 2007 at 12:55 PM

Right on, Bryan! Graham has got our country well on it’s way to becoming a third world nation. When he gets booted out after the next election Graham can run for President as the ‘saved the illegals’ candidate.

countywolf on June 25, 2007 at 12:56 PM

Oh, and I just called Burr’s office to tell his folks that voting yes on cloture and no on the bill is going to fool no one.

!!!
Burr, you WILL be voted out next time if you don’t stop this Shamnesty bill. I promise.

DethMetalCookieMonst on June 25, 2007 at 12:57 PM

I received my form letter response from Cornyn (not on the list) to my ‘no on cloture’ warnings. This site (Allah) gave me the heads-up on the ‘yes on cloture/no on the bill’ trick. All those Hill shenanigans get past average folks like me. But Allah still doesn’t need an iPhone.

Limerick on June 25, 2007 at 1:04 PM

Sweet, but can you get an unobstructed view of the MS-13 maggots? How about that classic from the Amnesty Marches in LA, with the punk gangbanger Mexicans flipping off the camera and grabbing their very small nuts?

I’ve contacted Burr at least four times a week since Shamnesty started. In one of my e-mails I told him that I did not support an minimum wage increase, on May 31 he sent me a letter bragging about how he helped get minimum wage passed and use the reasons why I was against it as the reasons why he was for it. As far as I’m concerned his Senate career is dead already.

srhoades on June 25, 2007 at 1:12 PM

Lindsey Graham is a McCain, and now a Kennedy, lap dog. Combined with the sucking up by Trent Lott for Kennedy and Finestein, these two RINOS are an embarrassment and have to go. It is hard to believe that guys like this can actually be delusional enough to believe they are omnipotent enough to do our thinking for us.

volsense on June 25, 2007 at 1:12 PM

We need the fear voice and the fear font as John Stewart would say. The concept is good, but we need that horror-movie announcer edge.

apostle26 on June 25, 2007 at 1:21 PM

If someone who is in favor of following the law is therefore a bigot, then I guess there are allot of bigots in this World. I’m not against immigration, I’m just against the illegals. We are a nation of law abiding citizens, so why should we accept those who choose not to follow them? All our government needs to do is enforce the laws that are already on the books, not make more unforced laws. a little common sense can go a long way here, the only problem is that our government has more dollars than sense lately.

tickleddragon on June 25, 2007 at 12:56 PM

I agree with you all the way. I am in NC and I have been calling and emailing both Senators for the last few weeks. I only hope that Burr realizes that any support for this bill (through voting for cloture or voting for the actual bill) is what is known as a ‘career ending move’.

It reminds me I need to call him again today. Thanks, Tickledragon for reminding me!

Abu Daboo Doo on June 25, 2007 at 1:26 PM

Beautiful!!!

My only suggestion would be to do a couple of these against some of the fence-sitters, e.g., McConnell. Grahamnesty is a lost cause on this issue (although it was still well worth it to do this ad parody). The fence sitters OTOH, might be persuaded with a little bit of a look into their Campaign ’08 crystal ball.

thirteen28 on June 25, 2007 at 1:28 PM

WOW! Great ad! Let’s hope it gets viewed over and over and over by people in SC!

Labamigo on June 25, 2007 at 1:31 PM

Excellent. Is there some way, we can get this in front of the eyes of prominent SC Republicans? We need someone in the primary ASAP.

I do wonder if the references to the MS13 in the final scenes may not a little obscure in SC. Maybe, it would be better to hint at job losses than at crime?

thuja on June 25, 2007 at 1:35 PM

“Less Safe”
“Worse Off”
“Skyrocketed”

Look! Scary pictures of tattooed individuals.

The arguments need to be tightened up or else we look like the knee jerk racists others paint us to be.

tlynch001 on June 25, 2007 at 1:35 PM

Beautiful. When is the next one?

I’m still waiting to see these Hot Air featured on Fox.

ctmom on June 25, 2007 at 1:43 PM

TLynch001: I am sure the video was not meant to impugn legal, honest, tattooed-americans! I thought the video was great, but I would agree that the MS-13 reference may be a bit less obvious to most people who may have only a slight if any knowledge of the drug gangs who have invaded with the ‘honest’ albeit lawbreaking criminal aliens.

Abu Daboo Doo on June 25, 2007 at 1:45 PM

AWESOME job Bryan, nothing like telling us bigots how we really feel. I hope all the senators who vote for this will get the same treatment. I know Gregg here in NH will be on the list for sure if he votes for cloture. How many emails and calls do these boneheads need before they listen to US ??

I would like to see some ads against the liberals supporting this bill from a liberal perspective.

I am in Pennsylvania and have receive several automated calls from labor groups requesting that I contact my lawmaker about this bill as it would harm workers via the Guest Worker Program.

Given the national poll numbers I’m sure some of the Dem supporters could be picked off with the right argument.

And to think, I liked this man at one time! What happened to his brain?

Ignorant Mensan on June 25, 2007 at 2:09 PM

The tattoos that have the most meaning are the most inconspicuous. There are alot more. Not passing the shamnity bill would insure these people remain classified as criminals which is their chosen profession. This is the basis for the Rule of Law argument against the bill.

sonnyspats1 on June 25, 2007 at 2:12 PM

Thank you Michelle for opening up registration. The one item our elected elites are forgetting; corporations don’t vote, people do. There will be someone surfacing that will walk away with the votes of those that are fed up.

24K lady on June 25, 2007 at 2:15 PM

I don’t think you can ever win with the ‘new people are here and now we are less safe’ line, even if it is true. It just comes off as xenophobic and gives your opponents ammo against you.

I didn’t know about the MS-13, living the sheltered life that I do. I did find out they are not in S. Carolina, according this report:

link

Yes they are somewhere, but to say South Carolinians are less safe, and here are the boogeymen, is deceptive.

This video will appeal to people who already agree with that position, and will have people on the other side rolling their eyes. So nothing will change.

tlynch001 on June 25, 2007 at 2:24 PM

Fantastic! I read this morning in the Augusta Chronicle that Graham isn’t worried about his seat at all in ’08. He said that he’s got nothing to worry about. I guess in some respects it’s true because the guy the Republicans wanted to run against him last week got indicted for cocaine use and he was the SC State Treasurer. Perhaps he should worry about a blue dog dimocrat though.

Catie96706 on June 25, 2007 at 2:32 PM

I wonder at what point in his less-than-distinquished career that this double-talking RINO is going to graduate to becoming a JACKASS and just get it over with!

I won’t be voting for Florida Democrat Bill Nelson or Florida Republican Mel Martinez this 2008 or whenever they again come up for re-election due to the fact they are supporting and pushing this Senate Shamesty Bill. Pardon Deputy Gil Hernandez, and the two Border Patrol agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean, Mr. President. I regret voting for you…

Senator Graham should be ashamed of himself, but he isn’t. I hope those in South Carolina remember that when he is up for re-election.

infidel4life on June 25, 2007 at 7:17 PM

I am unable to find the “tips at” mail link, so I’ll post the first of many ideas here.

This one is simple and direct. The ad begins with a sweet and soft tune sung by Ella Fitzgerald “Little White Lies”. The lyrics are perfect (see this link to listen to the music…, click on the song).

http://soundpedia.com/music/YWxidW1fNjIzMzQ=/Ella_Swings_Lightly-Ella_Fitzgerald/index.html

As the ‘swing lightly’ music plays and the lyrics about being seduced by little white lies play, there are three fade-ins Kennedy quotes, presented one at a time (most likely printed rather than a voice overlay)…

Kennedy quote on ‘solving immigration’ from 1965 appears, and fades out.

Kennedy quote on ‘solving immigraiton’ from 1986 appears, and fades out.

Kennedy quote on soving immigraiton from 2007, and fades out.

Then the last lyric from Little White Lies finishs.

Then some concluding comment or “paid for” appears. End of Ad.

I am certain it would be a good.

NOW listen to her song, and TELL ME if that would not be a hit…

More Later,
Mark Hamilton

MichelleFanClub on June 25, 2007 at 7:53 PM

Sen. Graham, how much $$$ does it take to not be a bigot anymore?

While we’re at it, how much is that in Pesos? :)

But seriously, folks:

If someone who is in favor of following the law is therefore a bigot, then I guess there are allot of bigots in this World. I’m not against immigration, I’m just against the illegals.

The real bigots are those who can’t or won’t distinguish between opposing illegals and opposing (all) immigration.

By the way, is it La Raza or MEChA who have that slogan “for those of the race, everything, for those not of the race, nothing”?

Bigfoot on June 25, 2007 at 8:20 PM

It’s MEChA. BTW – Is “Let ‘em in Lindsey” still unmarried?

DfDeportation on June 25, 2007 at 8:32 PM

Is “Let ‘em in Lindsey” still unmarried?

Thanks for the info, DfF, but I don’t know about Lindsey’s marital status.

Speaking of “Let ‘em in”, that’s a song by Paul McCartney. Maybe Michelle and Bryan can work up a ventilated version in honor (so to speak) of Lindsey. If they can parody John Lennon (Give Peace A Chance), how about Paul McCartney, too?

Bigfoot on June 25, 2007 at 9:01 PM

“We’re gon’ tell the biggots Mr. Graham to shut up”

Here’s your slogan for his ‘re-election’.

Entelechy on June 25, 2007 at 9:20 PM

Goober Lindsey Graham is the sorriest tool in the Senate. If this joke of a Senator even gets re-nominated by the Republicans I’m through with them.

Frank Nitti on June 25, 2007 at 10:25 PM

This ‘bigot’ says Graham Cracker can shut his sell-out pie hole. (That’s from one cracker to another.)

MS13 is at a loss on how to LG their appreciation. I have some ideas but…they will remain ‘unspoken’.

It’ll be interesting to see their response.

Ryan Gandy on June 25, 2007 at 11:59 PM

Bryan and Michelle have edited excellent videos in the past, and I am confident, in the future.

This video could be more effective if it was perceived by the average voter as Graham attacks “Americans” rather than emphasizing “Graham attacks conservatives.”

I know die-hard liberals at work who are very upset at Graham-McCain-Kennedy for this shamnesty legislation.

By emphasizing and stressing the facts behind Graham’s repeated assault on the Constitution and his personal attacks on Americans (calling them “bigots”), your video will receive a receptive, and much wider audience across all party lines.

Just my two cents.

Bryan and Michelle: keep up the great work.
