Video: Michelle on the Factor, wanting to talk about anything or anyone but Paris Hilton

posted at 9:57 pm on June 25, 2007 by Bryan

Today’s media covers what it claims is beneath its efforts and sneers at the viewers it claims to want to serve, all the while serving up more and more of the same tabloid trash. But here at Hot Air, we’re above that sort of thing.

You want evidence?

Well, we could have gone with this for a screenshot tonight.

or003.png

Or this.

or004.png

Or even this.

or1.png

They were all in the segment, which was predicated upon decrying the media’s overdosing on Paris Hilton coverage. But we didn’t. We took the high road. So there.

Glad ya took the high road there!

I think we all say we don’t wanna hear any more Paris “news”, but c’mon…we all read or watch it whenever it’s there…

Will we all be watching Larry King at the realease moment?

JetBoy on June 25, 2007 at 10:04 PM

Did Bill O say she gets released tomorrow? Well ain’t that convenient. Not saying it was planned, but I’ll bet the media blackout on the cloture vote will be.

Bad Candy on June 25, 2007 at 10:11 PM

Slightly tangential – I was out of the country for most Paris Hilton rise to fame (The Real Life, her scattershot acting career, her fall out with Nicole Ritchie, etc, ad nauseum) so here’s what I don’t get: What kind of Kool-Aid have people in this country been drinking to actually find her beautiful??!?!?!

She’s one of the least attractive celebrities I’ve seen in a long, long, long time. We’re talking Sandra Bernhard ugly, here.

Mindcrime on June 25, 2007 at 10:20 PM

What’s the difference between a whore and P. Hilton?

PH gets paid more for doing the same thing.

I agree with MM, why do you (whoever you are) talk about it?

TwinkietheKid on June 25, 2007 at 10:20 PM

I think Paris has contributed less than a Playboy playmate to our culture, and they only last a month. Paris is a walking television commercial, a new type of media phenom much Anna Nichole was. Combine the media hype with her million dollar skin tone and hair then factor in her net worth and wham instant mega star. The male groupies that stood vigil during her court appearence seemed to have a testosterone deficiency. I prefer my ladies more to the sultry and exotic side, with alot more curves.

sonnyspats1 on June 25, 2007 at 10:21 PM

The irrelevence & insignificance of Paris Hilton was poetically laid out by an ironic coincidence at the end of the 1st segment on Hannity & Colmes…

They were interviewing a former girlfriend of Bobby Cutts by the name of Nikki. She is a single mom of very modest means (apparently), who had a four month involvement with the jerk. It turned into nearly 10 years of abuse & loosing court cases against him. Near the end of the interview, Sean notices that she is not doing well, and you find that this poor woman blames herself for the death of the mother & unborn child…

It was heart-wrenching seeing this woman’s agony & guilt. Then cut – to a promo on the next segment – Paris Hilton.

The contrast was beyond words.

And God bless Nikki, give her peace of mind.

singlemalt_18 on June 25, 2007 at 10:22 PM

I agree with Michelle, who was great tonight. Paris is a creation of the media. If not for FOX, I wouldn’t have a clue who she is. Aren’t there entertainment networks that specialize in this blather? I’d rather watch AP’s marble videos.

Connie on June 25, 2007 at 10:24 PM

Michelle, thanks for telling Bill ! I used the watch FOX all the time but lately I find it easier to switch and wath something more interesting … Like programs of UFOs etc.
I think he wants to bring you down to his own new level.
Still try to watch him when MM or Dennis Miller is on though.

SIJ6141 on June 25, 2007 at 10:25 PM

We took the high road.

Well, Duh!

Michelle and KP are far more *hawt* than that skanky whore.

infidel4life on June 25, 2007 at 10:29 PM

Paris Hilton looks like a Bobblehead figurine in the rear window of a rusty Datsun.

That was hot. Real hot. Even Bill was hot.

Any time someone mentions MM and KP in the same sentence, I have a reaction akin to “The Todd” from Scrubs…

It’s terrible, I know.

Mindcrime on June 25, 2007 at 10:30 PM

Some people idolize Paris Hilton; some people feel sorry for the pathetic freak; and the rest of us just like to see people make fun of an attention whore.

So do the math: when something bad happens to her, EVERYONE wants to watch.

logis on June 25, 2007 at 10:35 PM

Paris this, Paris that. What a great way for the MSM not to cover the amnesty travesty, and what an equally spectacular way for (many of) the American people to remain blissfully unaware of what’s going down in the Senate.

More importantly… I’d call my two Senators and tell them what to do with the amnesty bill, but there’s no doubt in my mind that it would be a total lost cause. I’m an actual, natural born legal resident of Illinois, but I suspect that Barack Osama and Dick Turbin are far more interested in what the illegal hordes up in Chicago has to say than one of their lowly, meaningless constituents down here in the Central part of the state.

Well, at least the three of them are big enough to admit, that by just talking about this saga, they are feeding “oxygen” to the problem. And acknowledging a problem is always the first step to recovery.

manwithblackhat on June 25, 2007 at 10:44 PM

Those pix of Paris Hilton do absolutely nothing for me. She’s not even remotely attractive. That lazy eye just turns me way, way off, as do the flat chest, pointy chin and that look of constipation on her face. Give me Haley Berry … no, I mean literally … GIVE ME HALEY BERRY!

By the way, Southpark did a great job lampooning Paris and all the little girls who emulate her.

Mindcrime: “The Todd” from Scrubs hahahahaaaaa ewwwww!

That’s funny, I have Scrubs on right now. Dr. Kelso: “If I wanted to waste my breath, I would’ve given my wife mouth to mouth when she went into cardiac arrest last night!”

Tony737 on June 25, 2007 at 10:45 PM

Car accident . . . . can’t look away . . .

- The Cat

P.S. Does Paris Hilton say at the Paris Hilton? When in Paris that is; the city, not her.

MirCat on June 25, 2007 at 10:45 PM

Like others here, I watch the Factor mostly when Michelle is on. Mondays and Fridays. I’ll catch him every now and then but not as often as I use to. The editorial choices of the “networks” is questionable much too often. I mean come on… Iran crosses the Iraqi border and Bill O’Reilly wants to talk about some tabloid figure.

There’s no question, in my view, Michelle’s comments on current events is worth listening to. Paris Hilton is a waste of her (and our) time.

Zorro on June 25, 2007 at 10:47 PM

Paris is a creation of the media.

Connie on June 25, 2007 at 10:24 PM

Well, yes and no. The media made her a “star”, but who does the media pander to? The people who read/watch it. So in essence, WE created that monster. The media wouldn’t give a hoot about Paris if it weren’t for all those mags that sell, and the Neilson ratings on TV.

We created her, and only we, by not…well…caring about what happens to the girl, will the media ignore her.

JetBoy on June 25, 2007 at 10:52 PM

3/4 of the way through… when KP looks straight into the camera… with those puckered-up lips…

She’s lookin at you, Bryan!

HYTEAndy on June 25, 2007 at 10:53 PM

Well, at least the three of them are big enough to admit, that by just talking about this saga, they are feeding “oxygen” to the problem. And acknowledging a problem is always the first step to recovery.

Nonsense; they’re in serious denial. They WANT to make fun of the freak, but they pretend they don’t.

Sarah Silverman had the right idea: REVEL IN IT. Sure, her jokes were stupid, but when I saw that Paris Hilton was in the audience throwing a snit fit, I almost busted a gut laughing. And that’s a good thing.

Don’t get me wrong, if some poor retarded addict is sitting in a room banging her head against the matress walpaper, you’d have to be a jerk to go there and pick on her. But Paris Hilton is running around in public. SHE is the one who has to admit how worthless and screwed up she is. And until that happens, every bit of ridicule that’s heaped on her is a public service.

logis on June 25, 2007 at 10:59 PM

Iran crosses the Iraqi border and Bill O’Reilly wants to talk about some tabloid figure.

I don’t care how the lawsuit turned out: Bill O’Reily is one abusive SOB.

He knows Michelle Malkin is ten times smarter than he’ll ever be, and he’s painfully aware which side of the split screen his audience is watching whenever she’s on. So I think he intentionally dumps crap like this on her precisely because he knows how beneath her it all is.

logis on June 25, 2007 at 11:04 PM

As soon as I saw Michelle talking about Paris I knew Hot Air would have to stoop to opening a thread about it. Why on God’s earth are we talking about this bimbo? Not even HA is sacred anymore.

Bad Candy on June 25, 2007 at 10:11 PM

I think Reid intentionally scheduled the cloture vote for tomorrow knowing that the media will be focused on PH’s release. It’s a no-brainer. Last time cloture failed, there was a lot of press coverage of Reid’s failure. This time he’s hoping for success because he thinks no one will be paying attention to the cloture vote.

While Oreilly was talking about Paris our (republican) house of represenitives were hard at work tonight coming up with some kind of warning vote to stop this immigration bill. Talk radio says we will be informed in morning about its content. Sorry fox had to put Michelle threw that tonight. She’s way above that trash..

pointy chin

Frank Burns…I’m telling you, Paris looks like freaking Frank Burns from M.A.S.H with a Nina Blackwood wig on…she has a FERRET FACE! As long as we’re wallowing in the superficial, I’m not a huge KP fan, but toward the end of the clip, Bill is talking to Michelle and describing KP’s disgust; the camera switched to KP and she made..a face…she lifted her chin and looked right into the camera…one could say it was pugnacious..but I just had to rewind and say..damn…KP is kinda cute. Would be a good screen capture to use for her when she tees off on somebody in future clips…

you know what i find rather humorous….the only media constantly airing stories on paris hilton seems to be fair and balanced people at fox news. the ‘news’ of the world seems more like gossip to my ears. what happened to the time people questioned the world instead of the world questioning people

I haven’t seen the sex tape so your guess is as good as mine. ;)

Anyway, I have mixed feelings regarding Paris. What I feel sorry for is the fact that she’s mentally ill and in spite of that, found herself as the newest dart board of John Edwards and his base. You know, those far left “hate-the-rich” types.

What I do NOT feel sorry for is that she was lawfully made to serve out the remainder of her sentence.

From Day 1 the whole thing was almost as crazy as Paris (who I’m no great admirer of) making sex jokes on a big fast food sign, so yeah.

I wish it would go away, too.

i mean not to offend anyone….not you smellthecoffee nor the average person in any street but why is things always blamed on a political party…from the failure in war to now miss paris hilton…people need to realize when we wonder what is wrong with the world we need to look no farther than the mirror. people fight because they fear. foreigners fear….domestics fear…its the nature of things…but we cant let that fear dictate what we do….a hero is only a hero because of this not because people approve of what was done

I agree that Ms. Hilton gets WAY too much publicity on news channels. However, I think it’s extremely amusing that she’s pre-empting Michael Moore and his little propaganda tour stop on Larry King tomorrow night. He must’ve had a stroke when he found out about that.

Thank you, Michelle! There’s nothing worse than…

“Tonight! We’re going to talk about how this story has received too much attention in the media. Why do they continue to cover it?

On tomorrow’s show, we’ll ask Dick Morris why he thinks this story receives so much attention in the media. Will they ever stop?

On the weekend edition, we’ll chronicle the various stages of the media’s attention over this story. Why do they continue to talk about it?

Next week, we’ll ask Geraldo Rivera what he thinks about the media continuing to shower so much attention on this story.”

ENOUGH!!!

Hey Bryan! lol… as for the cover picture you chose, I think it’s safe to say that most of the readers who come here everyday are more attracted to Michelle and Kirsten than Paris Hilton anyway.

Oh, come one. If MM was “above this” she could of simply refused to come the show to talk about Paris….

This is part of O’Reily’s “Monday’s with Kirsten and Michelle” segment. The ugliest of the trio is the only one who has any input into the topics. As I said his choices, and the way he often talks over her, are more than merely obtuse. At time it seems to border on the abusive.

Of course, Michelle Malkin could refuse to have anything to do with Bill O’Reily altogether, but I’m not sure that writing off Fox News would be a brilliant move — unless of course you can name a network that would be LESS abusive toward her?

On-my-soap-box on June 26, 2007 at 9:17 AM

Michelle is right. ENOUGHT with Paris Hilton, already!

And, I think it is true…what other station would be less hostile to Michelle? Look at all the filthy, racist names she has been called (check out UNHINGED).

Remember the journalistic ambush that Chris Matthews (host of NO-BALL) pulled on Michelle two years ago. Make no mistake, Michelle WILL fearlessly go where journalists fear to tread, but given the style of the various hosts, I suspect that they will make it a broadcasting free-for-all where it will probably be four against one and the women hosts will probably suffer from MICHELLE MALKIN ENVY (like Chris Matthews does) and become angry because Michelle does not share their views on most stuff.

And when Michelle WHIPS THEIR ASSES ON THE AIR (she whipped Geraldo’s and bites O’Reilly every now and then), she will PROBABLY be banned from THOSE stations.

IT IS TIME FOR THE MALKIN FACTOR. HEY, ROGER AILES, WAKE UP! YOU HAVE A POTENTIAL STAR WHO IS (HOPEFULLY) AVAILABLE FOR HER OWN PROGRAM!

I’m sure all this adulation could go to a girl’s head. Then again, a woman, wife, and mother would know that it comes at a price.

Those who follow the career of our hostess nearly as much as they pretend to in this setting, probably know that she has already had to pull her children out of school and relocate to another part of the Maryland suburbs. Moving is hard enough for adults, let alone for children who must leave friends behind. It is for their own safety, as her family has been threatened by the advocates of “peacemaking” among the intellectual elite.

I’ve never had the pleasure of meeting Mrs M, and as much as I admire her work, I’ve learned to live with it. But I’d bet dollars to donuts that she is attempting to strike a balance, between maintaining a stable environment for home and hearth, and working tirelessly to expose the unbalance in the news brought on by the more celebrated journalists. To have her own show on a major cable news outlet would require more public exposure, which comes at the expense of her privacy, and that of her family. It would require less time with that family. It may also result in yet another relocation.

In the meantime, there is a certain caché to having just enough exposure to appear as the underdog, standing up to the Goliaths of the newsmaking machinery, against the odds, armed with only a webcam, a few well-designed props, and a cadre of loyal associates. From a garage outside the Beltway, a revolution is fermenting, one that is yet to “sell out” to the society pages of the Washington Post. Nothing wrong with that.

I suspect our hostess is well aware of all this. It’s the rest of us who make me wonder.

Earlier in his “Factor” success he was tenable and self effacing. Now he actually thinks his “&%$#” don’t stink. Talk about a GOD complex.

It’s hilarious to me how they all sit there and say we shouldn’t talk about this while they sit there and talk about it, all while acknowlaging they have to cover this but should’nt cover this, back and forth, Good Greif. Either talk about it, or don’t, but don’t sit there on a segment specifically about Paris Hilton, and act all sanctimonious about the coverage. If Michele hates it so much, she has the choice to not go on the show. At the end of the day, Oreilly has to be the same news-monkey as everybody else, so if anybody wants to stop this circus, here’s an idea: DON’T TALK ABOUT IT. Be willing to lose a couple ratings points for 1 day if you feel that strongly about it.

manwithblackhat on June 26, 2007 at 12:22 PM

American society is fascinated with this woman? I must not be part of American society then. Paris Hilton is not attractive, is without talent, and without any sense or sensibility. Her only claim to fame is that she is a skank whose sexual encounters were spread around on the internet. The way the sheeple carry on about her, you’d think she had done something important or noteworthy. If this is what American society has descended to, then I’m glad I’m not part of it. Also, for Bill and Fox not to be interested in this bimbette, they certainly seem to devote a lot of broadcast time to her.

You have better things to do than to “wonder” about me.

I certainly will not argue with that. But what I have a “right” to do or not do here, is spelled out in no uncertain terms by the hostess of this site. If I violated her rules, she has my sincere regrets.

I’m not as concerned in this forum with anyone else’s rules.

Manwithblackhat-

Fine with me.

But it is for Michelle to tell me (or anyone of her staff), not for you. But, point and proof well taken.

No more CAPS LOCK KEY from me.
