Video: The Santa Fe courthouse “ghost”
posted at 8:52 pm on June 21, 2007 by Allahpundit
It’s a mystery. More specifically, it’s a mystery as to whether this is, in fact, the stupidest video I’ve ever posted. Or does that honor still belong to Humping Robot?
Let’s see if you can solve this Scooby caper without peeking at the answer. If you can’t, let me know so I can ban you.

Pre-Answer Check: It’s an orb, which is apparently a common sign of a spirit.

Post-Answer Check: I’m a friggin idiot.
amerpundit on June 21, 2007 at 8:57 PM
Banned.
Allahpundit on June 21, 2007 at 8:57 PM
Heh.
amerpundit on June 21, 2007 at 9:00 PM
Honestly without peeking at the answer I think it was a spider on the window pane.
sonnyspats1 on June 21, 2007 at 9:01 PM
I love you, AP. bless your heart for posting the humping robot. It’s been a long time. I missed the little fella!
lorien1973 on June 21, 2007 at 9:01 PM
2 observations:
1) the camera needs to be cleaned
2) the camera needs a sun shade
Canadian Imperialist Running Dog on June 21, 2007 at 9:01 PM
Yeah, looks like a spider.
Which is much more scary than a ghost. Spiders are creepy.
Slublog on June 21, 2007 at 9:02 PM
Ooooh, harsh.
I guess I’d better watch it so I won’t get banned. :)
Bob's Kid on June 21, 2007 at 9:02 PM
The magic ghost is stupidest. Man, that robot vid makes me laugh still.
Spirit of 1776 on June 21, 2007 at 9:04 PM
Okay, I’ve watched it. And I’m wonderin’, ummmm, did someone really think this was a ghost walking over the hood of a car?
Whatever it was, it had a lot of legs, ya know?
Bob's Kid on June 21, 2007 at 9:05 PM
It’s a bug.
csdeven on June 21, 2007 at 9:06 PM
It’s a conspiracy.
Aardvark on June 21, 2007 at 9:11 PM
Yeah the itsy bitsy spider went out in 1st grade. Robot libido is stll funny, stupid but very funny.
sonnyspats1 on June 21, 2007 at 9:12 PM
That robot os humping everything.
He’s obviously a Kennedy.
Mazztek on June 21, 2007 at 9:14 PM
Honor System? Bug on teh lens.
Kid from Brooklyn on June 21, 2007 at 9:14 PM
Still the champ.
Kid from Brooklyn on June 21, 2007 at 9:16 PM
That robot vid is the stupidest thing I’ve seen in a while.
(Shamnesty excluded).
peski on June 21, 2007 at 9:21 PM
Don’t be silly. It’s a bald guy.
naliaka on June 21, 2007 at 9:31 PM
Looked like a fake video to me because the leaves were not blowing. It looks similar to my webcam outside my window, but the leaves are not blowing. Why aren’t the leaves blowing? That was my first thought. A still photo with something over it. I was wrong, but knew it wasn’t a ghost. Thought it was a photoshop something or other.
CrimsonFisted on June 21, 2007 at 9:35 PM
Didn’t peek and didn’t read comments yet:
I think it’s a small bug, like a tick or a mite.
IrishEi on June 21, 2007 at 9:37 PM
Oh yeah. I’m cool.
IrishEi on June 21, 2007 at 9:40 PM
Humping Robot is by far the funniest.
nailinmyeye on June 21, 2007 at 9:40 PM
It looks like a small robot moving around in search of something to hump.
frankj on June 21, 2007 at 9:47 PM
BTW, I once taped a circular piece of black construction paper to a window, took a picture with a polaroid camera so it looked like the object was floating in the sky, and then convinced my sixth grade class I had taken a picture of a UFO.
If only I had the internet back then.
frankj on June 21, 2007 at 9:49 PM
A recreation is in order, Frank.
lorien1973 on June 21, 2007 at 9:50 PM
It’s Joe Wilson running around in Santa Fe, trying to be in the (lime)light again.
Entelechy on June 21, 2007 at 9:58 PM
Whatever it was I think it was looking for that robot.
Limerick on June 21, 2007 at 10:27 PM
“It’s not a ghost it’s old man Johanson from the amusement park!”
“And I would have gotten away with it to if it weren’t for you meddling kids!”
“Scooby, leave the humping robot alone!”
MoxArgon on June 21, 2007 at 10:32 PM
It’s an undocumented American.
robblefarian on June 21, 2007 at 10:36 PM
uh… I’m in a funk because my baby is off to camp…so i’ve had some wine…I don’t get it. please don’t ban me. It looked like some sort of outerspace thingy.
pullingmyhairout on June 21, 2007 at 10:51 PM
I can always count on you to cheer me up!
pullingmyhairout on June 21, 2007 at 10:52 PM
Humping Robot FTW!
Bad Candy on June 21, 2007 at 11:16 PM
Bug my eye. Ooops. Comma time! Bug, my eye! That was Dennis Kucinic’s tin hat. You can’t see him because the glare of the sun off the tin hat is messing with the camera’s optics. There are places where you can see the form of a person under the tin hat, though, especially where it passes around the right front corner of the car. Why is he in Santa Fe? Well it is a liberal town, and he probably heard he had a supporter down there.
smellthecoffee on June 21, 2007 at 11:33 PM
Ban yourself for posting that mess. And after you relent and unban yourself, ban yourself again for the entire series of The View videos, which have dumbed down our culture immeasurably, all by themselves.
Then ban me for this post. Hell, ban everyone.
Jaibones on June 21, 2007 at 11:39 PM
I thought it was a spider at first but then Rosie told me camera’s can’t film spiders and the entire video is an inside conspiracy by the courthouse and they know exactly what it is!
Then Ron Paul told me the spider crawled on the camera because we’ve been over there fooling around his spiderweb.
Joshua P. Allem on June 21, 2007 at 11:46 PM
I don’t think it’s a ghost, I think it’s Richard Pryor back in the day when he set himself on fire and he’s running from the popo?
Just a guess, please don’t ban me oh merciless one!
Liberty or Death on June 21, 2007 at 11:50 PM
I need to smoke some pot to understand this thread.
infidel4life on June 22, 2007 at 12:03 AM
Told ya it was Joe Wilson, Limerick.
Pmho, :)
Entelechy on June 22, 2007 at 12:20 AM
I’m happy to say I guessed it right. You can see the spider’s legs very clearly. But then, I have a lot of spiders crawling across my windows out here. It’s a common sight.
thedecider on June 22, 2007 at 12:20 AM
Me too, but I’m afraid I’d fry my brain and become a twoofer!
Liberty or Death on June 22, 2007 at 12:28 AM
Spider gets my vote. Yes the robots were more stupid.
Mojave Mark on June 22, 2007 at 12:36 AM
That bastard Karl Rove.
right2bright on June 22, 2007 at 12:43 AM
It’s Fred! from the future!
Note: I wonder if he won? ;-)
Darnell Clayton on June 22, 2007 at 1:10 AM
I originally thought it was a light reflection. Saw a similar faked up ghost video awhile back.
Krydor on June 22, 2007 at 2:04 AM
It’s a crab.
It probably jumped off Bill Richardson during a visit there.
SilverStar830 on June 22, 2007 at 4:21 AM
Is it… the ghost of a murdered man?
Kevin M on June 22, 2007 at 6:03 AM
Wait, it looked forlorn. I’m guessing it’s the spirit of a girl who jumped off a cliff because of some unrequited love. Final answer.
Kevin M on June 22, 2007 at 6:04 AM
This happens a lot on the SciFi Channel show “Ghost Hunters” which is amazingly still on the air. I personally believe the entire show is faked, completely scripted and acted out with minor special effects. Why else turn all the lights out to record “ghost” activity such as closet doors opening and closing?
Fake, fake, fake. Fake.

Everybody is missing the big picture here!
Why in the heck does the Santa Fe court house have a security camera that’s so blurry one could barely make out the car to be a police car??
What I want to know is who is the idiotic person who continues to insist on having the poorest video camera quality which happens to be a *security camera*? If somebody got murdered right there on the parking no one would be able to see any detail about the attacker!
How dumb is the Santa Fe court house on having that bad of a security camera in the first place?
Fer cryin’ out loud.
Kokonut on June 22, 2007 at 9:20 AM

What I want to know is who is the idiotic person who continues to insist on having the poorest video camera quality which happens to be a *security camera*? If somebody got murdered right there on the parking lot in broad daylight no one would be able to see any details about the attacker!
How dumb are the people at the Santa Fe court house on having a security camera so awful in the first place?
Fer cryin’ out loud.
Kokonut on June 22, 2007 at 9:22 AM
No. The honor still belongs to the robot.
This post, however, is nowhere near stupid. It illustrates the ability of normally rational humans to abandon rational thought for whatever fantastical idea happens to apeal to them at any given moment.
Lawrence on June 22, 2007 at 10:02 AM
The real crime here is that I actually clicked on the link and read the “explanation”. Duh. It was a bug. And how many words were wasted on that article?
Ban me, Allah. I’d be a waste of ectoplasm.
nukemhill on June 22, 2007 at 11:33 AM
Boy that was scary! Looks like I picked the wrong week to give up sniffing Glue.
GoodBoy on June 22, 2007 at 12:25 PM
It’s Manny Aragon tryin’ to get away.
Frantic Freddie on June 22, 2007 at 1:26 PM
I was going with airborne seed (cottonwood, or dandilion)… unfortunately wrong by the research done.
In my defense, it was their first attempt as well.
I hadn’t thought insect, I was guessing something further from the lens to better reflect sunlight.
