Video: SF Supervisor calls mayor a cokehead during public meeting

posted at 9:24 am on June 21, 2007 by Allahpundit

It’s Chris Daly, whom you may but probably won’t remember from his efforts to ground the “dangerous and unnecessary” Blue Angels during Frisco’s Fleet Week. When the Examiner kicked up a media storm over it, Daly withdrew the motion and whined to a reporter from the paper, “Because of you, I haven’t gotten any work done today, and because of you, I am not going to introduce it on Tuesday.” He’s famous for his temper, which, if you’re a conservative like John McCain, means you’re “crazy” and if you’re liberal like Daly means you’re “passionate.”

The subject of his outburst? The hair-gellin’, friend-betrayin’, 20-year-old-datin’, alcohol-rehabbin’ “Mayor McHottie” himself, Gavin Newsom, who vehemently denies Daly’s accusation. San Fran’s in a tizzy over it; the rest of America, not caring in the slightest but savoring a choice bit of political theater, crosses its fingers and hopes for escalation.

What a circus.

My theory as to why San Fransisco functions day to day is that underneath all that liberal, progressive “leadership” are hard working centrist, conservative engineers and managers. If this behavior went all the way down, that city would be a cesspool of screeching, hysteric, debauchery.

Damn. My theory is shot.

Hoodlumman on June 21, 2007 at 9:36 AM

jeez, I need to wake up a bit more… at first glace I thought the caption said “committee of the Whore”

Anyway, when has it been a crime to be a cokehead in a progressive dominated city, after all marion barry got himself re-elected in DC

Canadian Imperialist Running Dog on June 21, 2007 at 9:36 AM

Nothing like an SF moonbat hissy fit and slap fight to start the morning off right…why is my mind going back to that ‘South Park’ episode about the “Smug Alert”… ;)

Often I wonder how that city keeps from imploding in on itself.

San Francisco functions because A) the machinery of prosperity was in place before it went moonbatty, and B) as moonbatty as the residents are, they like money.

Farmer_Joe on June 21, 2007 at 9:45 AM

So let me get this straight…legalize drugs is the mantra…so shy the need for public funding for drug use, that Daly claims to be a major problem….

Allahpundit..all joking aside, did Daly just open himself up to a lawsuit by Newsom? I was appalled that Daly would consider himself to be a stateman her..he sounds and acts like a spoiled brat..and did you notice how the 2 in the back didn’t flinch?

Pam on June 21, 2007 at 9:46 AM

I suppose the joy I feel in watching this pathetic fairy rip the wholly worthy Gavin Newsome yet another rectum must be something like what the DU/DKos ninnies feel in reading our comments about El Presidente Jorge Arbusto and impeachment.

Still…it’s too good to turn away.

The inmates have taken over.

WisCon on June 21, 2007 at 9:51 AM

This from a “progressive” is precious:
“I don’t see how allegations about someone’s personal life furthers the public policy goals he espouses to promote,” Peskin said. “The entire episode is conduct unbecoming an elected official.”

That city is a disaster area.

Enrique on June 21, 2007 at 9:59 AM

Isn’t “cokehead” a compliment in SF?

drjohn on June 21, 2007 at 10:00 AM

Why are Moonbats such bomb throwers? Why do they love to try to destroy people? Where does all that hate come from?

I wonder if they have a random drug testing program?

Speakup on June 21, 2007 at 10:18 AM

Bear in mind that Newsom is considered conservative in the San Francisco political scene.

Canadian Imperialist Running Dog on June 21, 2007 at 9:36 AM

That’s not the crime. The crime Daly is so angry about is that substance abusers are required to go all Oprah about their situation and promote “programs”. All he needs to do to become a local hero is sob publicly about his addictions and increase treatment funding. Then it’s pedestal time.

San FrannySICKO’s version of Patrick “Patches” Kennedy.

Wade on June 21, 2007 at 10:35 AM

How Victorian! I’m shocked darling, shocked! Drug use should be just considered a lifestyle choice along with gay marriage and polygamy man/boy love! Is this San Francisco, or is this Dubuque, Iowa?

/facetiousness

smellthecoffee on June 21, 2007 at 10:38 AM

So again, why do pinheaded liberal lunatics think that it is perfectly “normal” to steal other peoples money as taxes and use it for goofy programs that do little more than attempt to “control” drug users habits? Are ANY of the people who have gone to these “substance abuse” TAXPAYER FUNDED programs actually NOT still abusing drugs??? I seriously doubt it, because EXACTLY like the criminals and pedophiles that liberals keep turning loose on society to repeat offend, drug users, by and large, don’t get “cured” by having the nanny state hand them out OTHER forms of subtances to “curb” their habits, they are going to continue to do what they do until THEY decide not to.

you got that right!

I live about 2 hours east of SF so we get allot of their local news. A couple of years ago their supervisors wanted to ban hand guns in the city as there had been 70 or so gun related homicides the previous year.

Searching the internet for reliable statistics on death due to AIDS in SF is like trying to find the combination to the safe at Fort Knox (a closely guarded secret). I came up with around 1100 deaths a year. Maybe someone can find out the exact number. 1100 seems low.

70 homicides takes away your guns but the city actively promotes and encourages a lifestyle that kills 1100 of its citizens annually. Keep up the good work.

Its San Francisco, what can you say…

Allah, I know you were just making a separate point, but my friend Jonathan Schnitzler insists I register his amazement that you called McCain a “conservative.”

Ah San Francisco, the city brimming over with so much love and tolerance.

“San Fran’s in a tizzy over it; the rest of America, not caring in the slightest”

If it was possible for an entire city to have narcissistic personality disorder, San Francisco would be the basket case. With Washington DC right behind it.

crosspatch on June 21, 2007 at 12:05 PM

What I can’t get over is that the male mayor actually dates females.

right2bright on June 21, 2007 at 12:12 PM

Chris Daly. Somebody needs to b*tch-slap him. Seriously.

georgej on June 21, 2007 at 1:05 PM

Meanwhile, potholes in the crosswalks of the streets there recently meant twisted ankles for 2 of my friends, one who was very pregnant and luckily pulled out of the way of a bus by a passerby…..

The city is crumbling from an internal rot.

NTWR on June 21, 2007 at 2:38 PM

A little OT, but it just occured to me. San Francisco is probably the safest city in America, in that it is highly unlikely to be hit by a terrorist attack.

Why would they wipe out a bunch of their support base?

San Francisco is proof global warming doesn’t exist. Tinfoil hats reflect the warming rays of the sun back into space! And I thought all they were good for was blocking the waves from the Rovian Mind Control Device.

To make it even funnier, SF Mayor’s Girlfriend’s name is:
Brittanie Mountz

Where is Joe when you need piss poor jokes about working a pole?

Tim Burton on June 21, 2007 at 5:44 PM

I was in San Francisco the day of the election in November 2006, and witnessed a ‘Sex Workers for Daly’ rally in the Tenderloin.

It. Was. A. Fucking. Zoo.

Meanwhile the streets are full of mumbling drunks and confrontational beggars.

Liberal utopia.
