Amnesty. He’s giving them millions of new voters and signing the death warrant of the GOP. And if amnesty doesn’t go through, him and the GOP will take all the punishment at the polls. It’s a win-win for them. Impeachment might rouse some in the public to defend him and they may suffer for it at the polls. Better to let his own base make the party suffer in general for what he’s pulling with the amnesty.

What an idiotic move! Why would they even consider transporting these hardcore terrorists from a secure prison in Cuba into our cities and communities? If Bush does this, his approval rating will even go lower because nobody will support him.

This is outrageous. He is considering giving these foreign terrorists Constitutional rights and trying them in the U.S.. All because his liberal advisers are more worried about what foreigners think of us than doing the thing best for America.

Even if the reason he closes it is because he executed all the terrorists there?

The enemy combatants should be tried. Those who are convicted should remain at Gitmo.

Gitmo should close just like Spandau prison closed, when the last Nazi prisoner died.

Obviously you aren’t going to let them go – although setting them loose in Times Square has it’s own perverse attraction…

Closing Gitmo does not solve the problem but rather kicks the problem further down the road. When we give in to slander of ill treatment at Gitmo, it won’t get better at Leavenworth. If anything, it will encourage the enemies of America on to new and greater fabrications.

Worse yet, it does improve the legal position of the terrorist prisoners whose supporters can more effectively lobby for their release.

What’s forgotten in this issue is that the terrorists placed themselves outside established law, not America. Those who support the prisoners are trying to move the venue for their legal processing from international law concerning the conduct of war, where the terrorists suffer great disadvantage, to the domestic law of the US, where terrorists enjoy enormous advantages and acquire many rights. Basically, the supporters of the terrorists are shopping for the best courts to free these monsters so that they can do more evil.
