As far as freds? acting career, he has already admitted that his poll numbers are a result of his work on TV. So yeah, many of freds? supporters are only interested in him in the most groupie-ish way. So, those people do exist and I am right to reference them. But if that doesn’t apply to you, why get your panties in a twist over it? You can be a fred? supporter and not be a groupie. And I have NEVER claimed ALL fred? supporters are groupies.

Considering you have misunderstood much of what I have said and the context behind it, you’ll have to produce the “fool” comment before I’ll accept your context. I am very careful in how I present my arguments and even though I vaguely remember using the word, I would be surprised if it was used as a generalization of all fredheads?.

Your egotistical illusions argument is wishful thinking on your part. You are taking a snapshot of a moment in time and building a straw man argument around it. You just take a look at the next fred? thread that is started. I will make a comment on what a liar and fake fred? is and instead of defending fred?, people will attack me. THAT has been the standard here for a couple of weeks. People only make personal attacks when they have nothing substantial left to add to the discussion. And I have been right on the mark with my assessment when I say I have shamed them with the truth of their behavior. It may not have been your behavior, and what I find enlightening is that you REACT as if you have been caught with your hand in the cookie jar and resent my pointing it out. But, only you know the truth.

It’s like I have said in the past. Unless you ARE fred? or his family, no one around here should take my vehement criticisms of fred? personally.

So, we can continue with you justifying the attacks on me or you can defend fred? from my criticisms or you can ignore me. Defend fred? without the personal attacks and you’ll get a conversation. The other two will get you zero response from me. It’s your choice.

If you’ll notice that after I shame them for attacking me, they have nothing left to say. So, apparently, the conclusions I have come to about fred? must has some truth or they’d mount a defense.

This is just another in your series of egotistical illusions. When people tried to be polite and accurately relate Sen. Thompson’s background, history of political involvement and experience, you laughed AT THEM and began the name-calling. The first time I responded to you directly was when you were calling anyone who would support Fred a fool. Yours is the position of vitriol and slander on this topic, not the other way around.

I submit that the reason others have chosen to change tactics and attack you directly was your patent failure to address the salient comments made by MANY on the various threads. Since you refused to listen to reason, there was just no other way, in the minds of MANY.

amerpundit expresses similar misgivings regarding Sen. Thompson, but does so in a far more congenial and acceptable manner, and his comments are therefore received with the respect due them. Yours are also received with the respect due them, which has become NONE.

A simple example is your more recent attempts to connect Fred’s time as a lobbyist to corruption through the shallow employment of guilt by association (ABRAMOFF!). I am pleased to see you dropped that tactic as (hopefully) being beneath even you.

You yourself know quite well that the majority of people who comment on this blog are not the least bit interested that someone is a celebrity outside of their political sphere, yet you continue to insist that supporters of Sen. Thompson do so merely because of his acting career. When they repeatedly demonstrate that they have looked into his background and found a person who’s political philosophy they agree with and admire, you fail to answer and return fire from a new angle.

One begins to wonder if you aren’t a paid Fred shill, working his supporters into a lather they wouldn’t otherwise achieve, and thereby ensuring that they will do whatever is in their power to make him the nominee. If that is the case, you are succeeding, for your vapid, shrill whining about his supposed weaknesses has been turning many more people TO him, and not away.

You are clear-headed, thoughtful, and agreeable on every other thread upon which you choose to comment, a slight tendency towards vulgarity notwithstanding. Might be useful to remember that old honey/vinegar homily, unless threadjacking is your only real purpose.

But his courage aside, I do have to say one thing about Fred!’s fans–they are a lot more creative than half of the political marketing team out there–and I mean both sides!

People apply that term to themselves. I use the term groupies generally, and if someone starts ranting, I figure they must be a groupie. But I didn’t apply to them personally. They take that on to themselves. I doubt you would find an instance (or very many if at all) where I called every single supporter of fred? a groupie.

IE….

I support Mitt!. There are people that apply certain traits to Mitt! supporters. Since I do not share that trait, I must not be the person to whom they are referring to. So, I don’t worry about it.

Another example….

People call me a troll because I don’t share their view of fred?. I am not, so I don’t get exercised about it. Those people have finally stopped the troll talk and are now on to other insults. But I doubt I ever pointed to them and insulted them. They took the insult on to themselves.

fred? isn’t one of our own. He disrespects all of us with this waffling BS about when/if he is going to run. I’ve heard all the excuses about contracts and filing dates and financial considerations. All this led up to a supposed date of July 4th. Now I reading that it will probably be the middle of July and maybe as early as the 4th. He doesn’t respect any potential supporters when he does this and I’m disgusted by it.

Nice to see the FredHeads reaching out to the Log Cabin Republicans, though. It’s high time we welcomed them into the club.

Good to know, and glad you will. I’m just surprised at how viciously you attack Fred and his supporters when you may very well end up voting for him. For myself, I try not to denigrate any Republicans in primaries, just in case I end up having to put his sign in my yard! Hard to take back all the nasty things you’ve said and convince people he’s your guy at that point. :-) There’s a difference between pointing out weaknesses in a candidate or questioning his suitability and outright disrespecting and denigrating him and his supporters. We can’t afford to eat our own at this point.

Out of curiosity–let’s say your opinion of Fred doesn’t change at all, but he manages to win the Republican nomination. What will you do? Will you stay home? Will you campaign for the Democrat? Will you grit your teeth and vote for Fred anyway? Like I said, just curious. You have so little respect for him right now, and if that doesn’t change, I wonder if you can bring yourself to vote for him if it’s between a guy you despise and a Democrat.
