Glenn Greenwald, who is a liberal tool, was posting under different handles to boost himself without ID’ing himself. So basically he was pretending to be his own fans/defenders/whatever, and was made a laughingstock for it.

I did that once when I gave my teacher a forged a letter saying I had a dentist appointment. Granted I was 12 at the time. But I would expect no less from even an adult liberal tool. If in one is an idiot, it may be necessary to generate one’s own support.

smellthecoffee, Sockpuppetry is when you post with a different name at a blog than you usually would. There are two kinds of sockpuppets, like the sockpuppets at Ace of Spades. Sockpuppets are common practice there, people post as different people, like a president or politician, media person, prominent liberal, a blogger, the subject of a post or a celeb. Its pretty much benign, and it can make things a hell of a lot of fun.

Sockpuppetry in the context of what Patterico was writing about is a more malignant form. Glenn Greenwald, who is a liberal tool, was posting under different handles to boost himself without ID’ing himself. So basically he was pretending to be his own fans/defenders/whatever, and was made a laughingstock for it. A few other people have been busted doing this too.
