Elisabeth on Rosie: I don’t know if we’re friends anymore
posted at 1:58 pm on June 19, 2007 by Allahpundit
No interest in the immigration post, huh? Then you leave me no choice, my friends:
While Elisabeth Hasselbeck has long-maintained she and former View cohost Rosie O’Donnell are close – she now says she’s unsure if she can call O’Donnell a friend.
“Truthfully, I think a friend is someone who you have positive communications with, so I don’t know if I would define us as friends right now,” Hasselbeck, 30, tells Access Hollywood in an interview scheduled to air Tuesday. Adds Hasselbeck: “I did define us as friends, but I’m not going to make the leap to assume that we will or will not be friends in the future.”
In O’Donnel’s blog posts and recent comedy routines she has opened up about her tumultuous year on The View, saying in one video on her site that she may never speak to Hasselbeck again…
But Hasselbeck tells Access Hollywood that she does not really read O’Donnell’s blog – and that the post was unexpected news. “She sent me two emails right after that and I sent her one back,” she says. “It was a really great email, so hearing these things after really surprises me.”
Sounds like she’s ready to close the door here. Does she realize what she’s giving up?

Update: That’s exactly the type of non-answer Sullivan gives when presented with that question, isn’t it? “But doesn’t torture work sometimes?” “Dear god, sir. Really.”

Like a fly on a dungheap, Rosie keeps coming back.

Wouldn’t Elisabeth be one of those hetrosexual women who wants to use her high heel to stab Ro-Ro in the back. Ro-Ro is for diversity in society, except when it conflicts with her. EH is a strong willed woman with conservative views. Doesn’t fit with Rosie’s view of society. Elisabeth is better off to have jettisoned the obese one.

I get the impression that Hasselbeck is kind of person who always tries to give other people the benefit of the doubt, and she will probably go out of her way to show respect to Rosie, and try to maintain a friendship with her despite their differences.
And that’s just sick.

Wasn’t Star Parker on the View today? That’s what LaShawn was saying?
PRCalDude on June 19, 2007 at 2:10 PM
Elisabeth is way too nice. And, yeah, I’m surprised your Immigration post isn’t getting more attention. Give it time, people will see it. People should encourage people, including center Dems to oppose the bill.
Bad Candy on June 19, 2007 at 2:13 PM
That second people should be politicians at 2:13.
Bad Candy on June 19, 2007 at 2:14 PM
Either that or she’s just plain dense.

Ugh, the second people in the last sentence, damn I suck.

What’s the obsession with the notion of “friends” on “The View,” anyway? They seem to evoke the word as if it possessed some mythical power. (It actually vaguely reminds me of the White House Press Corps’ obsession with the word “mistakes” when questioning the Bush administration a few years ago.)
I work with a lot of people. Some of them I like, a couple of them I don’t, most I’m just sort of neutral about. I don’t really think about labeling any of them “friend” or not.
Is this just one of those chick things I’m never going to get?
Blacklake on June 19, 2007 at 2:23 PM
As a chick, I don’t get it either.
PRCalDude, it looks like the “Viewers” weren’t very friendly to guest Viewer Star Parker today as Babwa and Joy interrupted her while they were talking to Michael Moore.
WALTERS (TO STAR PARKER): Excuse me, can I just ask my question? I know we, we promised each other that we would try to each one get a question
STAR PARKER: That’s true.
WALTERS: Okay, fine (looking pack to Parker)
PARKER: (laughing)
[...]
PARKER: Thank you. I get to ask my question, because, you know, it’s a real complicated issue. Because I did watch the film and I thought about the points that you were making. It’s so personal. But my question is about the socialized medicine part going into other countries to decide it. But I want to preface it with okay, what we have in our country now, you know, you mentioned the 47 million that our uninsured. That down the households, that’s about ten percent of Americans. Ten percent have no insurance. Then you have about ten percent that are like people like myself, who go and buy their insurance on the open market. And there are complications there, of course, because I can’t buy across state lines–
JOY BEHAR: What’s your question?
WALTERS: This has to do with socialized medicine. That’s what you’re talking about.
PARKER: I’m getting to it. Now, there’s two other segments. 80 percent of Americans have their employer buys their insurance for them. And that’s the ones where you’re talking HMO’s. They have complications because a third party is paying the bill.
WALTERS: Star, darling, would you ask your question?
PARKER: Socialized medicine, the other half. I lived in that. I lived on welfare. That other half, 50 percent of that group the government already pays for. My question is, why would you go to a foreign country, you know you talk about —
BEHAR: Got the question.

Wow, Rosie and Sully in the same post.
Truly awful.
benrand on June 19, 2007 at 2:42 PM
Rosie in the third person posts.
The torture never stops…..and I read the immigration blurb.
When Rosie appears in The Sands Of Time, that will be worth watching.
Hening on June 19, 2007 at 2:56 PM
Beats me. I’m a “chick,” and I certainly don’t get it.
I will say though, that it seems Rosie at first made it a point to get to know Elizabeth, knowing she’d be in conflict with her repeatedly.
My take, as a chick, is that Rosie thought she could “teach” Elizabeth and make The View more to her liking, and that Elizabeth assumed Rosie really wanted a friendship.
Then again, I’m likely projecting. The same thing has happened to me several times. I need more conservative friends.

At last, real news! Other than that immigration thingy, whos got time to read all those comments. Sheesh!
Actually, I would like to see Rosie in the Trojan commercial, as what else, a sow!
Kini on June 19, 2007 at 3:13 PM
Is there such a thing as an Alpha chick?
Kini on June 19, 2007 at 3:14 PM
Elisabeth, in your circle of friends, this is addtion by subtraction.

AP, or other commenters if you know, am I allowed to post something totally OT in a comment, just b/c it’s ridiculous, kind of like Elisabeth caring if Rosie is her “friend?”

Now if there can just be one post on how Paris (not France) is doing, I’ll be in heaven.
/sarc If you have to ask.

And I should care about Rosie and Elizabeth because????
Sorry Allahpundit I’m been reading Hugh Hewitt on the Immigration issue and also reading the transcript he has with Jonathan Weisman a columnist for the Washington Post. He tried to “interview” Hugh but he simply didn’t know enough about his subject to talk with HH. Good Read if you are at all interested. In addition a list of the amendments to the reintroduced immigration bill have been leaked as of 8:05 pm. EST. Allahpundit, where is your immigration post? must have missed it. HotAir is my daily serveral times a day!!!

“I don’t know if we’re friends anymore”
Let me be the first, you are not. Rose is a hateful *****.
On the other hand Liz is being either stupid or PC when she said that. I understand Rose owes Liz and family an all paid weekend at her Florida home, as Rose promised Liz for her birthday. I think she should collect.
gmcjetpilot on June 20, 2007 at 11:12 AM
Elisabeth never was Rosie’s friend. You are only Rosie’s friend if you totally agree with her on all issues. Elisabeth committed the cardinal sin of disagreeing with Rosie’s warped views and standing up for herself when Rosie insulted her. With friends like Rosie, who needs enemies?
katieanne on June 20, 2007 at 11:30 AM
Boo hoo!
Rosie might not be Hasselbeck’s friend any longer!
It did not appear to me that Rosie treated Hasselbeck as a friend. More like a punching bag.
Elizabeth,
You have a husband. You have a child on the way. Enjoy your life. Love your husband. Love your child. You are building your own family. Focus on that. It is a much more fulfilling experience than engaging in non-friendship friendships with arrogant, rude, self absorbed bullies like Rosie O’Donnel!
