I would disagree with you as to Afghanistan. Minus some Pashto/cross-border tribal loyalties, the Talib were quite enough for most Afghans. I only made it to 5 provinces, but in everyone of them, they were ready to join, um…about the very early 20th Century or so. Heck, we had mullahs bellowing at people to respect the Americans because we were building a school in Jafarkhel (yes, even girls got to use it) and thus we had given the people a gift the same as God had given Adam – learning, that which rose Adam above the beasts.
There were plenty of tokenly observant, as well as devout Muslims where I went. They just wanted to be left the Hell alone to raise their families, educate their kids, rebuild and make a buck or two. A lot still were too darn primitive about women, but even the old timers were sounding like old timers here (“kids these days…”).

I realize you may have drawn a distinction, somewhat, by pointing to Arab cultrue more than any of Central Asia, but I would not be as pessimistic that the Talib or HIG are going to whip up anything other than antipathy or hatred. Without their Pak handlers and Saudi paymasters, they have no appeal.

I see more wrangling between Karzai and the Wolelsi Jirga and Meshrano Jirga about COnstitutionality of Cabinet appointments, etc., than I see beheadings and proclaimations about beard length.

You can’t remove oil from the equation. It’s the reason their culture is so screwed up. The oil has sat under their feets for many centuries. If it was not for American culture, there would never be a use for oil. If it wasn’t for America, there would be no way to get it out of the ground, No automobile industry, no big cities with bright lights. The Father of Howard Hughes used his tool making genius to figure out a drill bit to dig through hard rock. It created the wealth for his son to create, things that effect almost every human on the planet. High altitude flight, satellite tv, the Microwave via Raytheon, The Moon Landing via his ground radar and guidance systems, All from the need for oil.

The problem with our culture is that we allowed them to claim all this as their own when Saudi Arabia Nationalized the Industry and seized all of our technology to State Control. We did not defend it and decided to just pay. So we paid. As long as we keep apologizing to the world for out of some backwards or strange guilt for our achievements then we will continue to have wars. Oil is the issue. We must stop apologizing for it.

I don’t look forward to giving up my car for a bicycle anytime soon so the rest of the world can have their welfare check of oil barrels delivered to the undeserving. If their societies are no better than how come they didn’t create what we have. They had the oil. Oh, they didn’t have freedom or private property. This is what the world wants from us.

I hope they don’t confuse our attitude towards the President’s support of the Immigration Bill as a free pass to assume that we also no longer support him for the Iraq War. That would be a big mistake.

Just think what this world (if it existed) would be like if we weren’t involved in the region. Oil aside…they won’t go away until the world has no choice but to destroy them. The problem is the countries that can destroy them now may not exist to do that.

I’m not so sure about that. They pretty much had gone away. Even the Ottoman empire had abolished the caliphate. It wasn’t until they got money in large amounts that they became a problem, and groups like the Muslim Brotherhood coincidentally started arising about that time. Muslims are a perpetually backward people. They can’t make it without money and dhimmis.

I also have serious doubts about the quality of the Arab warrior. They’re snipers won’t be any better.

Well at this point in our history we can’t very well abandon them…we made our bed…no we have to lie in it. May our boys crush these brutal men without malice, but without quarter.

They don’t deserve either since they ceased to exist as human beings long ago.

We would have to wipe out many, many more of them than we are now. We would have to flatten several of their cities before they got the point. No one in this administration or in the Senate has the stomach for that.

We made our bed in terms of allowing the rise of Iran’s supremacy because we got rid of Saddam, but we’re not making these fools kill one another. I wash my hands of that responsibility.

Let’s take baby steps shall we. First we need to get them to act like members of the human race. After reading the story of the orphanage recently found inside of Iraq by our soldiers I would say that is still a long way off. Watching the Paleos throwing each other off the rooftops, and kiddies shows encouraging suicide bombings with Mickey Mouse as a spokesman and stoning to death 17 year old girls for dating the wrong guy and issuing death threats with real teeth against authors I would say that is still one or two evolutionary stages away.

I think the MSM is missing this story almost completely. While they are covering the operation in Diyala, I don’t think they realize what is going on. They are missing the big picture. In addition to the assault on the AQ stronghold in Baquba (the coalition has announced that the city is surrounded now, cutting AQ off from escape) there are major coalition operations around the country, in Baghdad, in the belt around the city, and in the south where US forces are working with the Brits.

No they haven’t. Profitsbeard is 100% correct, and he’s just echoing what Robert Spencer wrote in several of his books, most notably The Politically Incorrect Guide to Islam. I strongly encourage you to read this book to understand why no Arab country will ever succeed. Once the Arabs ran out of dhimmis to do their thinking for them (it took several centuries) their civilization became the backwater you see now. The only thing that keeps them afloat is their oil money and the dhimmis they import from India and the Phillipines, and the inferior (according to them) Asian Muslims from Pakistan. You really should study Islam before you make pronouncements like that.

csdeven, I hope ya get it man, it’s a great book, every America loving conservative will love it. I couldn’t put it down, blew through it in two days. It’ll make a great movie but I doubt anybody in Leftywood is interested in a story about a real American and how many Talibs he killed.

Meanwhile, there are stadiums full of people shouting at the doctors, threatening to fire them or revoke their licenses, or at the very least to cut off the lights mid-surgery. In the din of the mob, few seem to notice that the patient, screaming to be healed, is much more alive than dead. The patient roils in agony with every new cut, slashing at doctors and self. Some say we’ve done enough and it’s time for the patient to heal itself. Others are saying we should put it out of our misery, but surely this thing will live, and drag its mutilated self out of the hospital and follow us home, no longer seeking a cure but intent on revenge.

This latest dispatch from Michael has a much more darker tone and he refers to himself in the third person a lot. The tone is just disturbing to me.
