Video: The nauseating Lindsey Graham

posted at 1:00 pm on June 18, 2007 by Bryan

Sen. Lindsey “hissy fit” Graham appeared on This Week Sunday to once again tout Frankenstein’s monster. He was on for about 10 minutes–here’s the most annoying part. Click to play.

The bit at the end about “No Catholics allowed” etc is just galling. Does the senator realize that the people legally living here who find illegal immigration most annoying are legal immigrants? Does he still not realize the national security implications of a porous border, or does he just think it’s swell to stick with demagoguing the bill’s way to passage?

The senator wonders, if we don’t pass this monster of a bill now, then when, and how will the broken immigration system be fixed?

I humbly suggest that the senator go ask Rep. Tom Tancredo. The Senate recently voted down a version of the sanctuary city-killing amendment that the Tanc got passed last week in the House. The Senate ought to start there and work on enforcement first. Once that’s done, then we’ll look at what to do about the illegals who remain here afterward. The number of illegal aliens who remain here after sanctuary cities are gone will probably be well shy of 12 million.

Blowback

Two of the groups that are most opposed to the CAB are the ethnic voters who descended from legal immigrants and the labor voters of the industrial northeast. This is the heart of democrat power in donkeyland; if enough of those votes can be picked off by the GOP, we can take states like Ohio, Michigan, New Jersey and Illinois.

This is a golden opportunity for the GOP. We must realize it for what it is. We must continue to block the Kennedy/Bush/Reid monster.

No, No, and by enforcing our current immigration laws.

The Tell-tale Heart of the base opposed to this wretched immigration bill is beating Lindsay.

It is just beneath your floorboards.

Thumping louder and louder.

Saying: You’re fired… you’re fired… you’re fired.

Can you hear it Lindsay?

You will.

I have a question….are any of you who have pro-amnesty senators going to vote for them next time regardless of the outcome of this bill or what kind of pandering they do later? I know my guy is going down if he votes for cloture, and I don’t give a rats a$$ what he does afterwards. We can get a new senator who will do exactly what Craig does for us AND oppose this kind of BS legislation.

csdeven on June 18, 2007 at 1:18 PM

So does the good Senator think everybody in the country is listening to talk radio? From the get a clue department, most talk radio is on the AM side of the dial and therefore not very accesible and then in a very limited range. But, if like he says they are defining the debate, well at least they are having a debate which is more then I can say about the Senate.
Unlike our elected officials, talk radio personalities do have to listen to the public since it is their ratings that determine who stays on the air and who doesn’t. Just ask Air Amerika what happens when you have a product that nobody likes.

No Catholics, No Jews, Irish need not apply?

Sorry, LG…the problem here isn’t exactly a refusal of America to employ illegal immigrants.

Catholics, Jews, Irish, et. al are OK…my beef is with Senators that refuse to uphold and protect the Constitution they swore to defend against all enemies, foreign and domestic. Dump Lindsey now. Lindsey Graham – Ass Clown

Griz on June 18, 2007 at 1:30 PM

This pathetic schmuck just doesn’t get it.
The simple answer to the problem is ENFORCE THE EXISTING LAWS.What is it that he doesn’t understand about that? We don’t need any new laws – just ENFORCE THE EXISTING LAWS. Build the GD fence that was voted on and partially financed and go after the bastards that hire them. Again, it is sooo simple – no jobs – no more illegals invading our country.
To you people in South Carolina – lets see if you re-elect this guy or send him home. He is not fit to be a senator representing the people of S. Carolina and the Republican Party.

OBX Pete on June 18, 2007 at 1:31 PM

It’s all about votes for these guys. They are giving up national security to make sure the hispanics will vote Republican. These guys are starting to look as power hungry as the Pelosi-Reid democrats.

ABSOLUTELY!
Just imagine, no free medical for illegals, every law enforcement officer in the country allowed to do their complete jobs… enforcing the current laws, renewed total respect for the 14th amendment as it is written…no more anchor babies, it’s against the law.
This will do more in 5 years than any bill could to in 20 years.

Use what we got!

These Republican elites talking about how talk radio is “taking over this debate” and how talk radio is “running this country and we need to do something about that” are making our founding fathers roll in their graves. We really need to do something about those people standing up on their soapboxes in the center of town. They’re really starting to generate some crowds, “we need to do something about them.” These fools have become so elite that they can’t even remember what it means to be American. I’d love to see Lindsey Graham’s reaction if someone suggested to him that it might do him good to tune into a good talk radio program for an afternoon. I bet you this pompous jerk would be offended by that.

The big lie that goes unnoticed is that the pro-amnesty crowd cries “Reform! We must have reform!” while they create policies for state and local law enforcement that don’t allow them to enforce existing laws.

Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco police are directly BARRED from inquiring about a criminal suspect’s citizenship status. If they accidentally learn that they have an illegal alien in custody, they are not allowed to act on that knowledge. The same is true in many major cities throughout the nation, thanks to oath-breaking politicians of the like of Grahamnesty.

So it’s not only “don’t ask, don’t tell”, but it’s also “doesn’t matter”.

Now that enforcement is impossible, begin crying that our immigration system is broken, and submit that the only way to fix it is to legalize them all.

Just like our military rules of engagement overseas, the people we depend upon to keep the peace are not allowed to do the job they and we know must be done.

Words cannot express my loathing for this twit, Lindsey Graham. On the practical level he’s a damned traitor. All the big time boosters of this amnesty are. They hate the sovereign nation of the United States of America and yearn to destroy the American people via mad levels of 3rd world immigration. Specifically, uneducated, non English speakers. If we can’t deal with it [comprehensive immigration reform] now, when does the “later” come?

It comes when the borders are secure and the laws are enforced. If you think that’ll take too long then let’s get cracking asap.

I don’t believe that’s true [McCains slide] in South Carolina…

Out of touch much…?

…You can’t win with 22% of the Hispanic vote [Graham quoting McCain].

You can’t win w/o the support of Conservatives and the nearly 70% of Americans who want enforcement first either. Take your pick.

How are we going to be a viable Party if we don’t deal with the 12 million…?

You mean, those 12 million illegals? They can vote? God help us indeed! If Republicans get on the same side as most of America on this issue, how can you NOT be a viable Party?

Well, Graham is certainly in someone’s pocket but it’s not ours.

Uh, no. I am from Arizona and am so PO’ed I could spit nails. Mom’s old saying. I called and emailed the great Arizona senators over and over. I NEVER get any response from the McCain camp, no change there. I got the standard generic response from Kyl’s camp. His phone bank guy just tap-danced and took the heat. Was not much he could say.

I am just beyond comprehension about Kyl. McCain I understand, he is just a liberal calling himself Republican.

“…union halls and talk radio control the debate”

Last time I checked Americans “talk” on talk radio. You know people like his constituents, plus millions and millions of other citizens who will eventually vote people like him out of office for someone who will listen to the people.

Planet Boulder on June 18, 2007 at 2:57 PM

I have one question for Grahamnesty. Who is saying not to deal with this problem now?

What we are saying is we do not like your deal!

Wade on June 18, 2007 at 3:00 PM

According to this Senator, if Republicans want to be elected they better start kissing some serious Hispanic a$$ and to do that they better start by kissing some serious illegal a$$.

After stabbing the Conservative portion of the American public in the back, he may be right, of course that is if every Hispanic voted for him and some fools did too.
Doesn’t sound likely.

Pandering to an ethnic group with legislation, refresh my memory, that’s bad right?

I wonder, was he ever going to mention anything to do with what Americans want or whats good for Americans?

Does this knucklehead actually think talk radio hurt him when he was running for office? Maybe he just can’t stand it when other people voice opinions.

Lindsey Graham – who is a man – …………

Shy Guy on June 18, 2007 at 3:10 PM

I hate to say this, but Graham and his ilk are winning the information war on this issue. They keep saying that none of these changes will go into effect until we have taken steps to secure the border, and that it’s not amnesty because of the fines and all the steps the illegals have to take for citizenship.

After talking to some a-political friends this weekend, I realized that what is not getting across to the masses is:

THE “Z” VISA MAKES ALL 12-20 MILLION OF THEM LEGAL 24 HOURS AFTER THIS BILL PASSES! That is de facto amnesty.

Sorry for shouting, but we need to inform the vast majority of people who are not news junkies about this simple fact. The people I spoke to had no idea.

IrishEi on June 18, 2007 at 3:21 PM

Forget about silent amnesty, America is experiencing a silent war.

Reagan/Bush Sr. won the cold war without our government officially firing a shot at the Soviet Union. Bush Jr. is losing the silent war and our country by allowing unstaunched invasion, without our government doing anything concrete in response.

While I’m not a proponent of violence, I certainly am a proponent of rule of law. Build the fence! Enforce our laws! Now! The issue of the 12-40 million(?) (obviously nobody really knows) illegals will be immediately and positively addressed as a consequence. Only then will we have arrived at the starting line for further, smarter, immigrant discussion.

No politician unwilling to end the ongoing invasion by building the fence/securing our border will ever receive my vote. While I accept that more than one-third of Americans are incapable of thought more advanced than “fire bad,” I pray that a majority of the remaining two-thirds are fed up enough with being played for suckers and fools and therefore, as an electorate, will finally rise up sufficiently, let themselves be heard, vote accordingly, and save this most wonderful country.

BTW: While sensory technology can and does work, unwillingness to authorize agents to respond on the ground renders any discussion of technological solutions a genuine canard. Don’t buy it.

BJ Phisch on June 18, 2007 at 3:23 PM

Union membership is at an all time low and talk radio like the blogosphere is a very very small percentage of the total number of voters in the US. (the blog stats were mentioned in a HA thread a few months ago)
So your premise that blogs and unions have majority say in the country is frankly delusional. By your logic you should be asking Sen Graham if you can lick his hand.
