Video: Michelle on The Factor

posted at 9:53 pm on June 18, 2007 by Bryan

Tonight’s “Mondays with Michelle & Kirsten” segment tackled two topics: Why liberals hate Fox News so much, and the politics behind illegal immigration.

The answer to the first is easy: Fox is a right-wing mouthpiece for the Bush administration, even though it criticizes Bush as often as anyone and routinely gives air time to Bob Beckel, Pat Caddell, Ellis Henniken, Laura Schwartz and Kirsten Powers, among other notable Democrat strategists. Make sense? If it does, then to borrow from Jeff Foxworthy, you might be a liberal.

Make no mistake — there is a lot of white hot rage directed at Fox from many vantages on the left. Since they can’t generate any real rage against Islamic terrorists, and they have the Republicans in self-destruct mode, Fox makes a handy target. Howard Dean threatened to investigate and possibly break up NewsCorp if the voters made him president back in 2004; they wisely demurred. The Democrat presidential candidates made a big show of skittering away from a debate that would have been hosted by Fox earlier this year. Leftwing mau mau mouthpiece Media Matters even wastes a chunk of its Soros money keeping tabs on people who appear on Fox, and criticizes them from the hard, hard left for what they say and do when they appear on FNC. Here’s its dossier on Pat Caddell, for instance, where you’ll learn that David Horowitz once said that Pat Caddell is a “Democrat with a a conscience.” Good to know. Plus Kirsten, that makes two.

The second part of the segment refers to an ongoing battle over immigration politics between O’Reilly and the San Fran Chronicle. The boss gets a nice, good-humored dig in near the end.

The ultimate reason lefties hate Fox News is that they do not believe in free speech. They believe they should have a monopoly on public speech. It is a profoundly un-American position held by people who don’t get what makes America great and hold our liberties cheaply.

That guy from the SF paper really was pathetic.

Hey, what the hell? MM.com is back to the old format? What gives?

I was embarassed for the Chronicle editor. He went on unprepared and then whined about being sandbagged.

Bill only mentioned the TV and cable networks. What about the liberal printed press? Look, these folks are very jealous of FOX News’ success and the fact that FOX will tell a world audience about the more unflattering side of the liberal candidates the MSM supports, or provide another view to the conservatives they routinely bash. Even the mighty Beeb had to admit it has a liberal slant because of the liberal staffers that make up the reporters and editors of the Beeb. I’m glad they’re outraged over the success of FOX News and conservative talk radio. They’ve been attacking the likes of Rush Limbaugh for years.

Good plug for http://www.hotair.com, toward the end.

KP is going to get lots of hatemail after this.

Yes, the lefties don’t like free speech. But now, Trent Lott and other righties are moping about the radio-power. Must. Be. On. Guard. More. Than. Ever.

Now now, don’t you guys go displacing Allah’s love interests on me. I’ve met Kirsten and she’s as sweet as can be, but I already am married, and not to Kirsten. The A-R-G-U-I-N-G would be over the relative merits of missions to Darfur or Iraq and why she would favor the former while opposing the latter. No amount of beauty can make any sense out of that.

Faux News is sooooo yesterday Bryan. These days, the lib term of choice is Fox Noise. Faux News is actually better, but libs go with what’s trendy, not what’s good.

Bad Candy on June 18, 2007 at 11:00 PM

Alas, we would all be so much better off if it wasn’t for those “White Christian Men” … like Washington, Jefferson, Adams, Franklin, Lincoln… O’Reilly has his priorities straight, uh huh.

infidel4life on June 18, 2007 at 11:10 PM

Who has time to keep up with the moonbat lexicon? Do they publish it somewhere in a handy cross-referenced format?

Bryan on June 18, 2007 at 11:22 PM

Nah, I get my updates sifting through the feverswamps at Fark looking for funny posts, or when we get a libtroll at Ace’s.

Bad Candy on June 18, 2007 at 11:32 PM

I think the hate has a lot to do with ratings.

(MSNBC+CNN)*1.25 = FNC

For the Cable outlets that means Ad dollars. And for the lefties and the nutroots, it means that the common man/person/androgynous lifeform sides with the Ideas that FNC offers.

Good points from all sides. ALWAYS enjoy it when HotAir puts up a clip with Michelle and Kirsten (I’m not about to get a dish or cable just to watch Fox News out here in the boonies, thanks HotAir for keeping me up on things!). Both are DROP DEAD GOR-JUSS…AND smart. Just too bad Kirsten’s bubble tilts left. But there’s always hope…if she keeps using her intellect and brains, sooner or later she may see the light…

I love that hand in the air, Me! I think your too soft on the immigration issue.

It’s absolutely amazing, this truckload of slaughter house offal bill is a dream come true for illegal aliens and it’s just not good enough for their supporters.

The people on only one side of this issue can ever be satisfied with any outcome from any of this; and that’s the side of right versus wrong and the rule of law.

The opposition to right versus wrong can and will never be appeased.
One amnesty will follow another and another…and another.
Wrong will never completely go away and cannot ever come to an end.

Fox News is garbage.

I’m glad Bernie Goldberg and Jane Hall ripped Fox last week for their non-coverage of the Iraq war and other matters. I gurantee that Bill ran more segments discussing Rosie than the Iraq war last month.

V15J on June 19, 2007 at 12:11 AM

Given all that liberal-run “news” outlets do, or don’t do, can’t they be sued for malpractice? I mean, seriously. If any other type of corporation were so false in their advertizing, they’d be in the gutter in minutes. So, why the big pass for obvious leftist activism posing as “news”? I mean, it’s not at all hard to prove what they’re up to. Seems like some good lawyers could have a field day with the MSM… Just a suggestion.

Halley on June 19, 2007 at 12:35 AM

I think it is very telling how far left the whole country has moved over the last 25-35 years when Fox News is considered to be “conservative”. Fox is certainly more to the right then NBC,CBS, ABC, MSNBC et al but I would not consider them conservative either. In the middle perhaps but not conservative.

Altura Ct. on June 19, 2007 at 2:07 AM

If people “beholding” to (or actively employed by) George Soros really are threatening Democrats and liberals who appear on Fox, then I’d say some indictments should be leveled Soros’ way.

He is a NATUALIZED citizen and his American citizenship could be revoked for sedition and other felonies.

I’d say that he, his minions (moveon, media matters, DU, DKOS, etc) have a lot more to lose than they have to gain by threatening people who either appear on Fox or who allow Fox to cover the Democrat debates.

georgej on June 19, 2007 at 2:49 AM

The boss was perfect as usual!

Absolutely. Preparation is the secret.

As for FNC vs the Sad 7, well, Fox News is not perfect by an stretch of the imagination (from the conservative perspective), the Sad 7 (other networks) are just obnoxious! Even some of the sports coverage is tainted by the their left leaning poo.

“The Boss” hits it out of the park, once again. She is the David ‘Big Papi’ Ortiz of Fox News.

After listening to her and Bill talk about exchange without name calling, please allow me take a few words to apologize to Allahpundit for a previous post. He is protecting Michelle and for that we all owe him thanks.

…and yet the ratings for cable news channels are inversely proportional to the airtime spent on covering Iraq.

More interesting is the fact that FNC spent almost the same amount of time as MSNBC covering events on the ground in Iraq and the homefront. The difference is almost entirely in the amount of time spent on the “policy” debate.

Furthermore, this allowed FNC to cover a broader range of news, whereas the Iraq policy debate, the 2008 campaign, the fired U.S. attorneys, and the Valerie Plame leak/Scooter Libby trial— stories all, at their core, about Washington and politics — accounted for 55% of MSNBC’s total coverage.

Lesson: Less Beltway bloviating = higher ratings.
