In those “fondly remembered” days of the Inquisition, these two idiots would have been burned at the stake, alive, without benefit first being strangled, but only after days of scourging and torture. Lucky, only Islam MURDERS its apostates these days.

[...] There’s an interesting circumstantial case to be made that Prince Charles of England has secretly converted to Islam, or at least become a syncretic along the lines of that Episcopal priest I posted about yesterday. I’m not going to make or debunk that case since I have no hard opinion on it one way or the other; Daniel Pipes has collected the best evidence for and against and you can judge for yourself whether the future king of England and “defender of the faith” has changed the faith or faiths he would defend. But speaking of that: Sep. 4, 2005 update: Prince Charles revealed in a letter leaked to the Daily Telegraph that he had strained relations with George Carey, then archbishop of Canterbury, over his attitude toward Islam. Particularly contentious was his expressed intent, on becoming king and supreme governor of the Church of England, to ditch the centuries’ old defender of the faith title and replace it with defender of faith and defender of the Divine.

Next on the Episcopalian agenda: Finding a priest who’s Christian, Muslim, gay, straight, Zoroastrian, Hindu and a practicioner of transcendental meditation while claiming to channel Vanuatu, a sixth-century alien who lived on Saturn (but was actually an illegal immigrant from the planet Xanadu). Won’t that be exciting too!

Yes, that would be exciting, but for good measure perhaps there should be sacrifices of poodles to Zorpan the Space God as well.

At this rate the President of Iran should be the new Episcopalian Pope as that church (loosely called) fully embraces apostasy.

I hate to admit it but I was once a member of this silly denomination (and I use the term loosely) but I left when I came to know Christ as my savior. I was told by an ECUSA priest that you could believe almost anything and still be an Episcopalian. I think they can now safely drop the word "almost" from that recruiting pitch. This priest apparently read in the Bible to deny self but opted instead to deny reality. After professing the Islamic faith she puts her life in serious jeopardy if she ever decides this Muslim schtick is not garnering enough attention. She could not engage in this type of blasphemy in an Islamic country.

Where's the Spanish Inquisition when we really need it?

This silly twit and her fecal-instead-of-gray-matter idiot boss, the so-called "Rt. Rev." Vincent Warner cannot be considered to be Christians any more.

From the article:
Being Muslim has given her insights into Christianity, she said. For instance, because Islam regards Jesus as human, not divine, it reinforces for her that "we can be like Jesus. There are no excuses."
If she believes that Jesus was not not divine, then she's not a Christian. Strong delusion, indeed.

I live in a medium-sized Southern city and my Episcopal church is nothing like this one in Seattle or the national Episcopal church as described by the media. Don't condemn all Episcopals on account of some libtard in Seattle who thinks that she's found dual faith.

She does both, she says, because she’s Christian and Muslim.
That must make for an exiting week. On Fridays Jesus was a prophet who didn't really die on the cross but played a first class switch-a-roo thus avoiding the cross. Saturdays must be this nitwit's day off. Come Sunday Jesus is the Son of God who's death on the cross and subsiquent resurrection frees mankind from all sin for all time if they'll accept it. Riiiiight... Talk about your cognititve dissonance!

There's breaking news that Imam Redding just launched a suicide attack upon herself as an apostate when she attempted to put on her reverend's garb, then denied the attack was perpetrated by a Muslim by pointing at the reverend garb she had half on. A recovering Rev. Redding accepted responsibility for the misunderstanding at which point she punched herself in the nose and cried “Allah Akbar!”

Well, she’s just following in the footsteps of Prince Charles…

Shouldn't that Prince Charles - who is to be 'Head of the Church of England and Defender of the Faith'?

This is a classic example of doublethink - the belief of two completely contradictory beliefs at the same time.

Islam (and the Islamic 'god') is nothing like the christian God - they are opposites. Where Jesus said 'Love your enemy' Mo says 'Kill your enemy and do not make friends with them'. Christianity is based on Salvation and love (from/of God) while Islam is based on condemnation, fear, and hatred (of/from Allah). Christians do things for their love of God while Muslims do things for fear of Allah and/or hatred of non-muslims.

I wonder how the Muslims tolerate her being an Episcopal priest?

I wonder what Redding’s bishop, the Rt. Rev. Vincent Warner, would say if one of his priests announced an intention to convert to Judaism - not that a sincere Jewish convert would ever consider remaining a Christian clergy.

I've known a few former Christian clergy who have become Jews, including Asher Wade (Methodist), Amos Wittenberg (Mennonite), and John David Scalamonti (Catholic). All of them realized that they had no future in their churches and left their pulpits. While Redding is embraced by her church, Asher Wade's experience is about what I'd expect of a liberal protestant denomination today, particularly because Wade lives in Jerusalem and is an Israeli citizen.

Born in Danville, Virginia (May 31, 1949) as Wallace Spencer Wade, Rabbi Wade studied at several liberal arts colleges and graduated Averett College with a Bachelor of Arts in philosophy (June, 1971).

Afterwards, he traveled to Scotland, where he earned a Master’s degree in philosophical theology at New College, Edinburgh University (June, 1974).

Thereafter, he took a sabbatical from university studies and moved to Berlin, Germany (Oct., 1974) where he attended the “Goethe Institut” for language and cultural studies. While in Berlin, he also did an internship as an adolescent & marriage counselor at the U.S. Army chaplaincy center.

After his stay in Berlin, he moved to northern Germany and enrolled at the University of Hamburg (March, 1975) where he worked toward his first doctorate in the field of Metaphysics and Special Theory of Relativity. Nearing completion of his dissertation, Rabbi Wade was offered a post-doctoral teaching fellowship at Churchill College, Cambridge University in England.

Rabbi Wade is also a convert to Judaism. His background is that of a religious Christian. While in Hamburg, he was ordained a pastor in the Methodist Church (Aug., 1975). For three & a half years during his doctoral studies, he was employed as a minister of an English speaking Protestant congregation (June, 1976 to Dec., 1979). During this time, he met his wife (Jan., 1978) whose father and grandfather were very pious Lutheran German pastors.

Several months after their marriage (Sept. 15, 1978), he and his wife began to investigate Judaism (Sunday, Nov. 5, 1978 - on the 40th anniversary of Kristallnacht). It took about a year and a half for both of them to reach the conclusion that Torah Judaism fulfilled all the intellectual, academic, spiritual and emotional truths for which they had been searching. After withdrawing themselves from the church and leaving the ministry, both husband and wife began their conversion procedure which took three & a half years and finally culminated with them traveling to Frankfurt-am-Main and converting to Orthodox Judaism (May, 1983).

During their conversion process, Rabbi Wade suffered the hardship of not being allowed to finish his first doctorate at the hands of his supervising professor, who, it turned out, had been a chaplain in one of Hitler's tank divisions which rolled into Poland during World War II (and pastor of the biggest cathedral in Hamburg). He and his wife nevertheless stayed on in Hamburg as he pursued a second doctorate on Rabbi Samson Raphael Hirsch and the Orthodox-Reform Schism. More than two years later, with controversy growing about his Jewish status, he withdrew from the university and together with his wife moved to the United States (Aug., 1983).

When your priest is a muslim woman, I think you pretty much already slid into apostacy, knocked yourself senseless, and woke up in an alternate universe. IMO.

In a way, this is not a surprise, just another step down the slippery slope for the Episcopal church in general and St. Marks in particular. This is the church that installed the first openly gay dean, Robert V. Taylor, in 1999. This church is located in the gay district in Seattle, and while they minister to the gay community (a good thing), their theology regarding homosexual behavoir is very liberal, as you might imagine.

I have heard that St. Marks is losing its congregation as it slides towards apostacy. I can't imagine a dual muslim/christian priest will help that situation.
