Looking back, the assumption that democracy would work in Iraq (which I believed) was the biggest mistake. Just look at the Palestinians too – where’s Jimmy Carter to validate that?

I think that things like education reform and freedom of speech and press need to come before these Middle East countries can institute democratic government.
