It was pre-taped for screening tonight at the National Right to Life conference, but David Brody of CBN had a copy handed to him by the “supporters of Fred Thompson.” Brody sounded worried this morning, you’ll recall, that Fred hadn’t been vocal enough in support of pro-life issues, his voting record notwithstanding. He sounds less worried now.

OT (kinda): Thompson’s blog page has corrected a grievous error and linked to MM.

Her friend is obviously a credible account and I have no reason to doubt it. What do you think of freds? manager calling it a fakery?
You assume lefties are influencing my thinking. It was what I noticed about freds? disingenuous behavior that led me to research his history. It doesn’t matter to me if the person is left or right as long as the info can be verified. Do you disregard truth because you don’t like the persons politics who reported it? I am able to vet fact from opinion and I do not have to accept someones writings as all or nothing.
I’m not sure what to make of his clients, but it’s clear that he was working for foreign interests at one point and he was involved in the S&L fiasco. And earlier today I read somewhere that fred? worked for a client who was limiting their responsibilities in payouts to citizens who were wronged. If this is true, and these clients he worked for turn out to be working against the regular joe american, it’ll just be more evidence of what I have been seeing from him since the gitty-up.
Perhaps the fredheads can research this and let the group know just what bills etc he was working on and if these efforts were for the good of the american public or if they mostly benefited fred? and his client?

csd, just wondering, but are you all frothy at the mouth after you post about Fred?
Buzzy on June 16, 2007 at 2:55 AM
No. Never. But I am always in stitches, laughing my a$$ off on the floor after seeing another one of freds? lame transparent attempts to re-invent himself. AGAIN. Jeeze! The guy has no shame and certainly no respect for those whom he wants support from.
csdeven on June 16, 2007 at 3:14 AM
I don’t think he is “frothy”.
In csdeven’s world Fred! is the alpha dog and csdeven hates that since he is only a pack animal.
As a result csdeven attempts to assert himself against the alpha dog in an attempt to become the alpha dog.
I see the same behavior with my friends Labs.

csdeven, I’m enjoying this. Thank you!
I dunno. It’s anecdotal. I can picture the scene in my mind, so it’s certainly possible, but to call it credible, there would have to be more than one witness. And even if the incident went down exactly as Ms. Cottle described, so what? What politician is above stage dressing? Bill Clinton’s “stones on the beach” incident was absolutely blatant fakery. Look at Hillary Clinton and John Kerry with their botoxed visages. Blech.
You are entitled to be skeptical of Fred based on your own observations and by whatever sources you read. I strongly suspect the motives of lefties due to their demonstrable lies and deceit. If info can be verified, I do not disregard it. But I DO have reasons to doubt sources from the left. An unidentified “friend’s” accusation of a vehicle switch and a snark from a disloyal manager, do not hint, much less prove, a pattern of fakery whatsoever. If it sparked skepticism in your mind, and that’s fine, but I have trouble squaring alert skepticism with the passion with which you take after Fred, not to mention labeling people in this community with an odious term such as “Fred? Groupies”.
There is no doubt in my mind that the research is already underway – on both sides, and before the primaries, we will all be highly enlightened about Fred’s clients, the purpose of his lobbying efforts, and the lobbying industry itself. It will be interesting to see what tangents the research will take. I’ll bet there will be plenty of scandals unearthed, and others revisited.
For example, the S&L fiasco. Fred’s involvement, according to the article, was pushing for deregulation – which desperately needed to be done. That had nothing to do with the fiasco, which came later. That fiasco was caused by interest rates skyrocketing, and the thrifts were stuck with low-yielding portfolios (the assets were yielding less than the cost of funds). The real scandal was actually John McCain’s, as part of the Keating 5.
RushBaby on June 16, 2007 at 11:25 AM
I agree. But those are dems and I expect that from them. Conservative values don’t include faking out your supporters.
“Groupies” is a term I use for my lovable fred?heads. Even they must admit, and do at times, that their support of fred? is based on very little except emotion. Somewhat like the supporters rock stars have.
I don’t know that freds? manager is disloyal. As a matter of fact I’d bet fred? surrounds himself with people who call it “gimmicky and hokey” but don’t realize it really means fakery to real people. He was quoted and there are many accounts from fred? himself that he leased the truck just to change his image. On top of that we have the eyewitness account that can be easily vetted by speaking with Ms. Cottle. Again, he thinks it’s acceptable, but as a conservative, I am not amused.
I will take your word on the S&L fiasco. I agree that as we speak, investigations into exactly who benefited from freds? lobbying activities over 20+ years will be exposed and fred? will have to be held accountable or praised for his actions.

An open-minded remark if I have ever heard one. I hope you have a wonderful weekend.
Best regards,

Thanks for the intelligent debate.
Have a nice one yourself.
Peace and cheers!

I am ALL about children.
I am ALL about Fred?
But I am SO NOT ALL ABOUT BEING REMINDED OF HIS INFINITE VIRILITY.
I hafta say it>>> Every time I see that purdy young
jail baitwife of his, I cannot get excited about his “family friendliness”.AAAaaaaaaaLL I can think about is him having a trophy wife that MATHEMATICALLY COULD MAKE HIM HIS OWN FATHER IN LAW.
Skeeves me out, Fred.
Hide the wife. Believe it or NOT , she NOT an asset.
SORRY.

I accidentally found an little tidbit in an article while researching freds? fakery and flip-flopping. I’m not sure anyone will ever try to make a connection, but in 1998 this person said the only thing holding fred? back from a presidential run was a wife and family.
I think fred? is a pathetic faker, but I don’t know that I’d believe he would collect a wife and kids just to get a shot at being a non-candidate for POTUS. He isn’t THAT bad.
csdeven on June 16, 2007 at 8:54 PM
Mr. Thompson’s young wife doesn’t really bother me because of her age. I mean, once you hit your late 30’s, early 40’s I really don’t see it as a “robbing the cradle” kind of situation. She is a mature adult, not a twenty something, barely out of her teens. Also, the fact that he was a bachelor when he dated her gives the relationship more credibility than if he divorced a wife to marry her.

Now see men see Phred’s wife and think… RRRRrrrrrllllll. My wife is 6 years younger than me and that’s as far back as I would care to go.
Definitely an asset for Phreddy boy. IMHO.

I have no idea what people see here. For one thing just look at this… the first thought is that the woman is his daughter. It is his wife right? This guy is like Geraldo Rivera with a child bride and what not.

He’s very good on TV and — let’s face it — that counts.

Well, freddie boy is at it again, and now in Great Britain. He took a swipe at the other republican candidates like the coward he is.
Then he shamelessly presents himself as above the fray. We in the US know he’s just a coward and isn’t getting away with it here, but the Brits don’t know that so it’s safe for fred? to lie to them.
C’mon freddie boy, grow a pair and start debating. The BS you’ve spewed a thousand times doesn’t mean anything and people could take you seriously if you would just announce a date that you will announce.
