After the going-ons of the past few days, this shouldn't be a surprise (H/T: Hot Air). Naturally, the MSM, in this case, the Boston Globe, would rather put the blame on Israel than admit that Fatah is as much a terrorist organization as Hamas is, and....

Fatah kills Hamas and Hamas kills Fatah.

So what's the downside?

I do agree, though, that it is a shame that Fatah lost so quickly. An 8 year war like Iraq-Iran would have been much better. Hopefully the West-Bank will occupy them both for years to come.

The best dead terrorist is one who dies in a red-on-red! The "sheikhs" have to get creative in their fatwas for killing other muslims as a holy duty! Much dissension in the ranks. If only we could get them to Marxist levels of splittism.

No. This is not good. It was bad before; this is worse. I agree with the above who stated that this is the end of the world as we have known it. No sense in trying to create a false bravado. Israel is now surrounded by it's enemies who are openly funded and armed by the country who's made no bones about it's clear intention of exterminating it. We are locked in an idealogical and military struggle in Iraq with our Country completely divided in it's loyalties and commitments. Dangerous times have truly arrived, but we're still pretending that all things remain as before.

You know, this may be a good thing. If Hamas controls Gaza, and Fatah has the West Bank, and they want nothing to do with each other, perhaps the notion of a Palestine that surrounds Israel is on its way out.

No, you don't want tactical nukes, you actually want Israelis (Zionists) to be able to move in and fix the hell hole after all the SOBs are killed.

As far as I am concerned it is time for Isreali tactical nuclear weapons.

It is time for America and the World to let go of the reigns holding Isreal back. Isreal needs to stop these Islamic dung beatles from playing in that dirty sandbox over in the Mid East.

I actually like these developments.
No one one in the West has any illusions that Hamas is a genocidal bunch, so no one will pressure Israel into any concessions to them.

This is a much better case than having a powerless partner such as Abbas, that with all his supposed good intentions, is not able to enforce any agreement that Israel is constantly being forced to sign with him.

Any strong military reaction Israel will be forced to take from now on will be better diplomatically supported.

Hamas will be further isolated (they won't be able to use Fatah's "positive" image as a cover), and so will Iran and Syria. Abbas' Fatah, the pragmatists, can now be supported too, now that they are separated from Hamas. The west bank can be made into an exemplary area which will show Hamastanians that Fatah can get things done to improve Palestinian lives, while Hamas can't.

It's the Canuck's turn for an "Exit Question".

As is known, the Palestinian Authority has observer status at the UN. This means that, although it isn't a "member", it has representation, and votes, on a number of UN organs. The question is: If (or when) Hamas wins, do they take over the PA "seat" at the UN? Will other UN members have to sit with them? Will the US have to give their representatives diplomatic visas so that they may go to New York and attend UN sessions? (I know it's more than one question, but they all seem to just "flow")

Curious about what y'all think.

<em><strong>Allahpundit: "The new UN chief is willing to “explore” the possibility of sending peacekeepers but a Hamas spokesman has already put the kibosh on it."</strong></em>

Why would anywhere that Islam, the religion of peace, rules need peacekeepers? That's just crazy talk, AP!

And besides, wouldn't those peacekeepers include infidel troops? What do they know about the true peace of Islam?

If you think that Palestine is doomed when it's cut into two parts ruled by warring factions, I say let's wait a while until the factions in those parts split into factions fighting each other and cut Palestine into three parts, or six parts, or a dozen parts. If there is anything you can count on in the Middle East, Arab Muslims can not share power and will eventually break into factions and turn on each other, each one trying to out-crazy the other.

I think they are misunderstood, we need to sit down and talk with them. The years of U.S. intervention has caused this situation, and Israel has fueled it with it's economic sanctions and rhetoric...so reads the U.N. report...or at least something like that will be said.

Pathetic creatures. Where are the WMD's when you need them?

I'd rather hoped that Fatah would've made a better go of it before collapsing.

The main down-side I see to Hamas taking over the 'strip so easily is that the Palestinian-on-Palestinian slaughter might come to an end. There's something cathartic to watching them shoot, blow up, and cold-bloodedly murder one another instead of "Zionists" whose "crimes" consisted of things like riding a bus, or eating pizza, or going to a disco.

Oh, well, there's always the West Bank...

The UN has spotters for them. They have cut of aid programs because of the violence and moved all funds directly to Hamas to end the violence in Gaza and direct it where it belongs Israel...coughs.

A tenet of Islam is that if Muslims do not control government whenever and wherever they have the opportunity to seize it, then they are in a state of humiliation. However, they are not in such a condition when Muslim dictators or crazies rule over them. From an Islamic POV, therefore, Gaza is experiencing happy times. Let the Gazan Arabs be so joyous for the foreseeable future.

However, the UN has to play the spoilsport. Apparently, Mr. DeSoto reports that things are not so wonderful and it's all the fault of President Bush and Israel. His report to the Secretary-General says that Gaza's economic conditions result from an aid boycott orchestrated by the US (like the EU and others participate). Moreover, DeSoto and his staff of deranged anti-semites wrote that the present chaos in Gaza is a direct result of Israel’s decision to withdraw. Therefore, they blame Israel for occupying Gaza, then they blame Israel for withdrawing under UN directives. It isn’t just Mr. DeSoto who needs to be shown the door, but the entire corrupt secretariat because it cannot be reformed for the foreseeable future.

Ambassador Bolton had begun to force reforms when he corralled the countries which provide almost 90% of UN funding to push for UN reforms. Of course, most of the General Assembly consists of foreign aid sponges who voted these reforms down. The next step might have been a devastating (to the UN) financial boycott. However, this impetus died when Congress refused to confirm Bolton to a permanent position. With a Jackass Party administration likely after the 2008 elections, there is little likelihood that a Democratic Bolton equivalent would be appointed. Hence, the UN will remain corrupt and it will continue to support Hamas, Hizballah and other murderers.
