The hardest thing about starting a Third Party is what to call it.

1. The Conservative Party? (Too Tory)
2. The Tory Party...?
3. UnRepublican Party?
4. The Third Party?

And what will we do with quaint expressions like "My friends across the aisle" when there will two aisles?

Logos and mascots...which new party will claim the "GOP" moniker? I know...details, details.

I am going to vote for who ever not only says but shows me, they will secure the borders and enforce existing (immigration) laws.

Nothing else needs to be done, protested or debated until this is done first, say with in the next 4 years. The boarder will be secured, a good dent in criminal illegals aliens deported and employers only employ workers with temp worker documents or get fined. Temp worker documents will have to be given out as a stop-gap and to get the database started, as opposed to deportation. A tag and release if you will. At least we will have some document and make sure they are paying taxes. The key here is the employers from the single family Nanny to the big factory or construction companies.

Than we can talk about some forgiveness or semi-amnesty. YES at some point we will have to take existing illegals on track to get citizenship for one reason only, WE LET THEM IN AND THEY HAVE WORKED HERE FOR DECADES WITH OUR BLESSING. Shame on us. However many put on that "track" will NOT make it, criminals, minor or major, people with zero skills, work history or English speaking ability. Sorry.

Many countries like Australia with an active immigrant program filter them thru a process that gets the BEST immigrants for the countries NEEDS. Do you think people that have some skill and ability to speak English would be a better fit in the USA? Do we need 80 year old parents to come here?

I talk to Chinese, African, Slovakia, Czech Republic (legal) immigrants all the time just out and about. They all speak English, some only here 3 months. Its not always great English but you see them try. In many cases these non Mexican LEGAL immigrants not only speak English, but are very intelligent and can hold a conversation on all manner of topics with substance. One guy makes my deli sandwich is from Africa. He is here and working on track to citizenship, while much of his family is still in Africa. He is sacrificing. That is SOMETHING many Mexicans and pro open boarder people want, no sacrifice at ALL. Too bad.

The argument that they want to learn English is BULL. IT SHOULD NOT TAKE TWO AND THREE GENERATIONS. That is laziness or their desire to make their cultural permanent. I don't believe all want to assimilate, ever.

They want America to change for them. I am pretty sure English is the international language, certainly in aviation. I AM SICK OF PRESSING 1 FOR ENGLISH. BTW I try to learn to speak Spanish. It's not easy, but I can go to a restaurant and pretty much and get by in spanish, so I have empathy for those coming here and learning English.

I talk to a 27 year old lady from Czech Republic and her English very good. How did you learn, I asked her. I asked friends what the english word was for various (nones, verbs, adjectives...), one word at a time. She has been her 7 years, again legal.

You get called a racist for saying that Mexican immigrants are not ALL good or calling them on their BS rhetoric. They say they will speak english in three generations? How about NOW? Is America not worth learning english. A nice young lady, a professional grade school teacher at my Church teaches English to immigrants for free.

We are talking young adults coming here illegally, they DON'T GET TO CALL THE SHOTS. Yea I know The entire south west really belongs to Mexico. Well Mexico has rich coastlines and oil but still can't get it together. If they owned southern California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas, I am sure they would be a rich industrialized nation and have gone to the moon by now? (NOT) Mexico is a third world country for a reason. What reason has nothing to do with the land they own. Really besides corruption and mass poverty I don't know why Mexico is not a richer nation. Do we want to import Poverty? We all know there is about 6.5 billion people on earth, and Mexicans in Mexico are richer than 4.5 billion other people in the world. In other words there are other people that deserve coming here more, if we are going on NEED.

There are lots of people all over and from everywhere around the world that want to come here. Variety is the spice of life. I say WE NEED these workers, so lets get people from all over the world, not just South of the border. Make immigrants compete to come here. However Mexicans feel THEY DESERVE IT MORE OR HAVE MORE RIGHTS THAN ANYONE ELSE. That is bold. We deserve the BEST immigrants not just to ones from the nearest country or that where able to sneak in against the law.

Absolutely NO to automatic family immigration! They will have to get in line like everyone else. What advantage is it to have a 70 year old Parent come here from abroad? There is no advantage to America except they get into medicare, welfare and social security. Supposedly the sponsor, say the child of the elder parent will sign up to support them? Well their parent will end up on the "books" in about 2-5 years. By books I mean public aid. Of course when people come here we'll give them medical care, food and shelter NO MATTER WHAT, at least as long as they are here. It's the moral thing to do, but that is the problem with illegal immigration, the drain on the government and tax payers. I know its crude of me to want to protect my family's welfare before others coming here illegally. Oh well I live with it. Immigrants have excellent info and support on HOW TO GET welfare.

Years ago I read an article written about a Chinese manuals and books , "how to move to America to retire and get benefits". It has been done and is being done from ALL over the world not just Mexico.

Local police should detain illegals when it becomes apparent. We should finance ICE appropriately. Yes existing illegals will have a hard time of it over the next decade; I say sorry and feel bad about that, but the american people will feel the pain in TAX's. To say these poor poor uneducated people will not be a drain is crazy.

The incentive to come here illegally will be less and less, to where the problem will take care of it self when America becomes a difficult and unpleasant place to come to ILLEGALLY. That is the KEY. We have to make it undesirable to come here illegally. I know it sounds harsh but that is what we must do.

Everyone must have some pain including the existing illegals. It's costing Billions to handle this every year and it will only cost more, Trillions and Trillions. Everyone has different numbers but the fact is its government (tax payers) supplementing cheap labor and the main beneficiaries are the people that employ them.

I am all for giving a few, some, most of the existing illegals citizenship down the road, say 10 years from now, but border security, enforcement of existing laws and documentation for all illegals *unknown* workers be started. Not a Z-visa, just temp worker. Part of that will be employers will be fined for hiring illegals, heavily. So the employers will be encourage to get their illegals documents or no job. No job, they will go home.

I'm sick of this pandering and begging illegals to obey the law. They know their status. It shows an arrogance and defiance that they don't come forward. We need to promise them NOTHING, except that if they come forward we will consider giving them temp worker status. However we can give them "points" for coming forward sooner than later if and when we give illegals a path to citizenship, which is inevitable. The goal is to get the best and deport the worst. They say Mexicans don't commit more crime than the average population. THAT IS NO RECOMMENDATION! Zero crime from an immigrant is expected.

So the general consensus seems to be that it's better to let the democrats win than vote republican. There isn't one important issue that can't be made worse by letting democrats have control. Just like the kid that takes his ball and goes home when he can't control the game, you all stood aside and let the Dems have the House and Senate. Now you're willing to give them the presidency as well. Well played, "stupid party" members, well played. I don't think you'll all be patting each other on the back over this decision when you have HILLARY! running the country with Reid and Pelosi in supporting roles. But who cares? As long as we can tear down the ideologically impure it's a job well done. Better to be a minority in a Democrat controlled country than have Republicans in charge that are willing to actually compromise with the evil Dems. You do realize that there will likely be at least two SCOTUS appointments in the next presidential term don't you?

Here's the question I have. I haven't heard it expressed, but perhaps it has been in a different way and I am not recognizing it.

Once these illegals get legalized, do they stay in the fields picking fruit, or in the hotels and landscaping jobs, or do they become eligible for "real" American jobs? If that is the case, does not big business still need another subclass of workers to keep their profits high?

Why dose it feel like deja-vu all over? Bush Sr. lost because of the influence of Ross Perot and a third party and it got us the first Clinton. If the party once agains fractures it may very well put another Clinton in the White HOuse. I think it is important to remain Republican, but it is most important to vote for the candidates of your choosing, not the ones we are told to vote for. The RNC has been propping up some pretty shaky candidates. Can you say Chaffee? My tactic this time is no money to the RNC but rather to the candidate himself. Speaking of which we need a candidate in GA to challenge Chambliss. So far one guy, a former investigative reporter on tv has announced as a Dem and there are a couple of others toying with the idea on the Dem side. They smell blood in the water, but the message that needs to go out is we still want Republicans, we just want different ones.

In point of fact, the REPUBLICAN Party started as a 3rd party in 1856. The "two party" system was the Democrats and the Whigs. Their issue was abolition of slavery. The 1860 election was won by this 3rd party candidate: Abe Lincoln.

True the Whigs were on the ropes at the time....But so will the Republicans if the party splits.

I hope the party does NOT split. I hope that conservatives run aggressive conservatives as Republican candidates to replace the Republicans that voted for amnesty.

But if it does split, we had better prevail like the 1860 Republicans. Because I don't think America will survive 4 years of the Democrats controlling Congress and the White House.

I always wonder about the people who say a vote for a "third party" is a wasted vote. Maybe if more people voted their conscience, instead of settling for second best, the Republican party wouldn't think it could ride rough shod over the rank and file and try to pull crap like the amnesty.

Would it mean that a Hillary could win the White House? Sure. But as long as Republican leaders get the message to stay on target and not get in bed with the Democrats, then in the long run, it's a win.

We are divided while exploring the best candidate to win, after we choose then we come together. We are looking for the best candidate to represent us.

The democrats just want a candidate that can get by, open borders? no problem...higher taxes? no problem...let Iraq die? no problem...shut down free speech? no problem...increase the welfare roles? no problem...limit business? no problem...sign any treaty? no problem...Let Israel die? no problem...catipulate to the enemy? no problem...there is no problem they can't fix by caving in.

Maybe the audio is just bad, but it sounds like Michelle and Dean are both referring to you as OlivePundit.

I did not notice that but it's funny. Allah can I get my nick changed?

Seriously:
I give Bush a lot of breaks due to the times being what they are, but it is getting a lot tougher to do so. And I won't be abandoning the whole party for the same reason.

The current anti-conservative/no borders/pro amnesty post-RINO "Republicans" are the "third party", having left and betrayed their base.

Time to reclaim the original party of Lincoln.

And defend the greatest experiment in human liberty in history.

the “stay at home” or “vote 3rd party” crowd will do us in, worse it turns off moderates. It could be a blood bath

This is probably true. But I will not support the GOP with the usual flow of checks. If Michelle's not on the ticket, I'm staying home (just kidding)

It's not "third-party time". It's simply time for the conservatives to take back the Republican party in the name of conservatism and let the moderates running the party walk over to the other side of the aisle.
