Indonesia bags big terrorist

Fred! must have stared him down:

Indonesian police today confirmed they captured Indonesian’s most wanted terrorist Abu Dujana in a raid on the weekend.

There has been intense speculation that the terrorist leader was caught in one of a series of raids by Indonesia’s anti-terror squad, Detachment 88, across central Java.

Indonesian national police spokesman Inspector General Sisno Adiwinoto confirmed the fugitive’s arrest at a press conference in Jakarta today.

“Abu Dujana has been arrested with seven others,” he said.

The capture is good news by itself, and it’s likely to lead to more good news:

Dujana is wanted in connection with a series of deadly bombings, including the 2004 attack on Australia’s embassy in Jakarta.

Dujana is also wanted for protecting Bali bombings mastermind Noordin Top, who until earlier this month had been in the No. 1 spot on the most wanted list.

The weekend arrests follow a series of raids in March, in which authorities uncovered a huge stash of hundreds of kilograms of explosives, weapons and chemicals.

Police also found charts detailing JI’s new structure.

Blowback

Well, history has shown us that he will get a slap on the wrist from the Indonesian government. Unless, of course, they determine that he is a Christian. Then he will be executed.

Don’t those Indonesians know that the war on terror is just a bumper sticker?

Let’s hope the judge doesn’t let him off like they did with the last guy they caught.

Indonesia, being a very, very, very Islamic country (although some ‘progressives’ here in the States seem to think Indonesia is a model Islamic state), will be obligated to let Abu Dujana off with stern finger-wagging once he repents publically.

He should be extradicted (?) to Australia since it was an attack on Australian soil, where the PM over there actually understands terrorism

Plus, I question the timing.

They have executed several of the Bali bombers, though they executed some Christians first just to help assuage the public.

Glad they got him. I was in Indonesia for the 02 Bali bombing and the Austrialian embassy and the second Bali bombing.

Today’s top article in the Jawa Pos leads in with questions about why Australia was notified first. Apparently Australian foreign minister Alexander Downer announced the capture to the Australian press before the Indonesian press was notified. Oops. The headline is “Indoneisa reports to Australia.”

There’s gonna be a few folks a little nervous about their spot on the org chart.

Bryan, “terrorist” is not a pc term, and not one recognised (intentional spelling) in Britain.

Give him the usual harsh sentence!

2 whole years!

And then an early out for good behavior (AKA incessant Koran reading).

Wonderful, they caught this thug. Now the question is what are they going to do with him? Suggestion….slit his throat and send him to his 72 ASAP!
