My mother passed away recently after suffering with Alzheimer’s for many years. No I didn’t watch the video the memory is just too fresh. It is a debillatating disease and it is absolutely unbearable for family members. I can never forget the day I was visiting her and there was no hint that she even recognized me. One of the nurses had to tell her who I was and even then there was no response of recognition. She still had all of her verbal and physical skills then. That was the second worst feeling I have ever had in my life.
Folks it is okay to laugh, just make sure that you are laughing at the right thing.
Someday I may find humor in it, but that day isn’t here yet.

Strange disease. I had an aunt that was in her 90′s and could remember in great detail events that happened during the depression and WWII.

What she had for lunch or what her husband’s name was however were impossible.

Well, to be honest, with the daily juggle of my work, I have CRS. The cure…a very good planner :)

I have an aunt with this problem. She asks the same questions over and over. She called me at work the other day trying to figure out who I was and who’s phone numbers (written on a piece of paper) belonged to whom. I have enormous patience for her but it is very tiresome. Nevertheless, those truly afflicted with this awful disease deserve our patience. I really hope my life does not end up this way. I really want to remember all the people who mean so much to me, and why I love them.

It was extremely hard taking my grandmother to see him and him not knowing me. At least he knew her, knew their favorite song and knew Christ as his Savior.

My mother has Alzheimer’s (or rather, dementia brought about by Alzheimer’s, since Alzheimer’s can’t be confirmed without an autopsy)so I will use my Absolute Moral Authority to say…

…it was funny.

A friend’s 90+ grandmother had it and she would repeat the same conversation with you over and over. It was like the movie Groundhog Day. I would test different answers to her questions and see how the conversation would changed… it was interesting and freaky.

Another friend’s MIL had it and she smoked but forgot. She’d go crazy trying to figure out what it was that she did…
